Keep in mind this is one single persons experience on the internet. And for the record, its published on a website that has a pretty proven track record of posting large amounts of BS at least once a week.
Give the camera a rental. Get it in your hands and see how it actually performs.

I'd say wait a bit more for some more long term reviews of the a7rII comes out and make your choice then.

BrorSvensson reacted to wildrym in Sony A7R II Review - Part 1 - Summoning the devil
Regarding a7rii vs a7s, it seems that a7rii 4k S35 mode can rival a7s 4k quality, even in low light (with a speedbooster).
However it is not clear wether a7rii 1080p s35 60 fps mode is on par with 1080p 60 fps from a7s, especially in low light?
Does anybody have a clue? It is an important consideration for those who use frequently 60 fps for smooth slow motions.
Is 1080p downscaled from 4k internally in a7rii, as it is supposed to be in a7s?

BrorSvensson reacted to Mattias Burling in Sony A7R II Review - Part 1 - Summoning the devil
Exactly, and where I live Sony stands no chance against Canikon. No competition. Not yet at least. Consumers are very different in different regions. Here Sony would have to cut the cost of the a7rii in half for it to even make it to the shelves outside of the Internet.

I would highly recommend the Fotodiox "Though E mount" it fixes all the issues with play and wobble

Sony seems to have a pretty consistent 6 months between each A7x camera so i would say december is very likely

I'm predicting that like all prior cameras with exception of the bmpcc it will be regularly available in stores that have it from day one and never out of stock.
A little plus of living in a small country, a place where pretty much nobody uses mirrorless and where Nikon is considered the "new kid".

BrorSvensson reacted to richg101 in A6000 color vs canon Color
The canon has better colours argument is a myth. It's simply that people haven't become accustomed to how to set their sony cameras up properly. If i take an auto white balance picture as a jpeg out of the A7R and compare it to a jpeg from a 5dmk3 the 5d looks nicer. But if i process the image, the a7r image smokes the 5dmk3 image. With careful adjustment of the wb - temperature + the cyan/magenta etc adjustment a sony can be made to look like a canon and vice versa.

mine works great on nex 7 plus lens turbo. Little soft wide open but really good at 5.6

The only way to get a nikon g lens working on a zhyongi speedbooster is if you get the canon version and get a nikon g to canon adapter with an aperture lever.

BrorSvensson reacted to utsira in nex 7 vs a6000
There is less moire and now almost no edge-weirdness (not really sure how to describe it) in XAVCS vs the old codec. Moire is still present though, the usual suspects like distant brickwork. I would say, less moire now than the 5N, but more than the Panny G6. The XAVCS is a whole lot nicer overall though. It doesn't break up when you have lots of detailed movement (trees blowing etc).

BrorSvensson reacted to Mattias Burling in The Dawning of the Golden Age
After playing for a year with 4K in the Bmpc, LX100 and NX1 I've now moved back to HD.
I don't really get any big benefits from it. HD broadcast in Sweden is 720p. 4k and HD on youtube looks the same. And anything looks good if not full screen.
Instead I focus on having a proper robust codec that can take some abuse. Also there isn't any 4k cameras that ticks all the boxes of what I need. And if a project all of a sudden require 4K I will rent. (Worth mentioning is that I have never used my own gear for serious work. Maybe a small gig here and there but otherwise my employer takes care of it.)
I guess I'm on the same page as the biggest broadcaster here in Sweden. When asked recently where they are in the process of 4K development they said roughly,
"We don't care about that right now because it wouldn't look that much better. What really would look better and that we are working on is 10 bit and wider DR.
The transition to HD isn't even done yet so no hurry for 4K.
I know this wasn't exactly what the thread was asking but it's the thoughts that came to mind when I read it.

BrorSvensson reacted to Don Kotlos in The Dawning of the Golden Age
If people that watch my videos complain about resolution, digital artifacts, lack of color or any other technical deficiency, then it is not the camera to blame or even the post process. It is my fault that I didn't make a stronger story.
But I can't deny I am a gear addict.

Maybe having a sticky thread at the top where people can write reviews would work better.

BrorSvensson reacted to utsira in switching from fcpx to adobe premiere/after effects.
I just had a search around, and it seems the Send To app I mentioned has disappeared, both the free version, and the paid app store version. I have the free version. I haven't used it for a while, but it was working fine last time I checked. You export the xml of your fcpx project, then you open the xml in Send To, select which shot you want to work on, and it automatically sets up a Motion project with the rush preloaded with the correct in and out edit-points, ready for you to work on. Here's the post describing the app:
http://www.fcp.co/final-cut-pro/news/743-now-you-can-send-clips-from-final-cut-pro-x-to-motion
Really sucks that it's not available anymore for anyone starting out with Motion. Anyone else have alternative methods for roundtripping clips from FCPX to Motion?
