  1. Blackmagic cameras have a very filmic look. And I find this appealing, but that said I'm thinking Sony with get my money this time around... Then later, after the dust settles with the mini I'll decide weather it's worth buying. This decision is largely to do with a change in my shooting style, opting for less static and more dynamic shots. With that in mind it will be easier to fly the smaller Sony than a rigged out mini.
  2. Here's a test performed by Tony Northup on the A7Rii. He also did overheat testing.
  3. Are these lenses made irrelevant by the SLR Magic Rangefinder?
  4. Don't worry, I'm sure Samsung will make one.
  5. I would be looking to do video. I want something that would work well on a gimbal like the Ronin M, or cameTV single. So does this mean autofocus and primes? I very much like the motion that these systems create. I also want the ability to get in close for intimacy with the characters. I'm open to suggestions.
  6. I thought their closest rival was the Rokinon Cine Lenses.
  7. I believe he is talking about both.
  8. I recently watched a video in which the reviewer claimed that there is a quick and easy fix for the Sony A7Rii and RX10ii overheat problems. He claimed all that need be done is to position the display so that it is away from the camera. He said by doing this he was able to record over an hour no problem. I'm sure many here would be interested if this claim can be confirmed. Can someone with an A7Rii perform a test and report their findings here? Claim is at 00:19:30
  9. Thinking of picking one of these bad boys up towards the end of the month. What lenses do you recommend and why?
  10. I always take a wait and see approach with blackmagic.
  11. Don't you think eating them was a bit harsh? Perhaps next time just a good talking to would suffice?
  12. From the article: “We can obviously see a considerable difference here and so straight out of lightroom the A7Rii is nothing short of incredible. Let me remind you, this is +5 exposure and +100 shadow recovery!” http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/first-a7rii-vs-5dsr-comparison-sony-outperforms-the-canon-and-is-nothing-short-of-incredible/
  13. So it would appear s35 mode it's a special use mode. Nice to hear heat is at least not an issue in FF.
  14. Does resolve 12 support the gyroscopic metadata that the ursa mini records? Can this data be used for post image stabilization? If so this is potentially a really big deal.
  15. So far I'm liking what I'm seeing from the A7Rii. I'm sure the ursa mini will be great, but the size of the Sony is a major win for gorilla style shooting. I'll wait for some more info on the mini, but I'm starting to feel that the A7Rii might be enough.
  16. Looks good. Have you run into any overheating?
  17. You risk about $500 in resale, don't panic.
  18. I seem to recall reading that the IBIS in the A7Rii is an updated version to the one in the A7ii.

    A7Sii to be...

I can understand where you are coming from, but FS7 and Ursa Mini are both permit cameras, whereas the A7 series are not. That means a lot more flexibility in these little cameras as far as real world practicality.
  20. Wow, looks great. Would love slowmo, but I can't fault the footage. Much to like here.
  21. It's seems to just get better. Looks like Sony might have knocked one out of the park with this camera... Link to story http://www.newsshooter.com/2015/08/02/sony-a7r-ii-part-iii-5-axis-stabilisation-and-heat-issues-going-handheld-to-tell-the-story-of-a-london-busker/
  22. So what is the later and greatest in film cameras?

    A7Sii to be...

Weren't you recently singing praise for the 1DC used for $3500-$4000? And now in light of the new A7Rii, would not such a purchase be in question?

    A7Sii to be...

You can currently buy a new A7S on ebay for $1799... Prices are dropping, and will continue to do so as word gets out just how capable the A7Rii is for video.
