  1. Why? You knew it the GH4 didn't have V-Log when you purchased it. Should Panasonic stop creating new products because the old ones won't support the new features?
  2. Below is some footage I came across on YouTube. They calm this was shot on the Ursa Mini. Comments welcome...
  3. I hope this works. I'll gladly spend the bucks if it does.
  4. No plans on buying this camera anymore. Sony, no money for you! Lastly, remember you said this when it's time to sell this thing. Can't see it keeping its value with overheating and the risk of damage to the sensor. Good luck!
  5. It's a weak argument. And arguing this way will ensure that more companies put out substandard products. Gh4 doesn't overheat... Neither does Samsung. Over $3k gets you under 20 minutes in ideal conditions... Then what? Wait 10 minutes and be limited to 3-5 minute clips. If you are satisfied with that kind of performance, then you are mighty forgiving. I prefer cameras that can take abuse without skipping a beat. Clearly we have different standard.
  6. Those that think the heat issue is nothing to be concerned about will learn a hard lesson when it comes time to resale this camera. Especially if the new model is free of this defect.

    Pilotfly H1+

Really? That good... Can't wait to see your review.
  8. I'm contemplating getting an NX1 to shoot anamorphic with. I want sharp images. Also I would like to mount the setup on a gimbal. What are your recommendations? Lastly, could anyone here post some examples of the suggested setups?
  9. You see the problem here is the A7Rii is not the first in the line. This is a mkii product... The bugs should be fixed. And frankly bug is the wrong word to use here. Bug implies something that can be fixed with a simple software revision. This is a major design flaw. QC should have caught this early on. I'm puzzled why any purchasers would defend a defective product.
  10. I'm sorry but the solution of having two bodies is a copout. Before I buy two A7Rii, I think I would just by one FS7 and be done with it. Truth is I really wanted to like this camera, but for $3200, the overheat issue is unacceptable. Heck for any price the overheat issue is unacceptable. Can we all just stop tiptoeing around this thing and call it what it really is? The word is DEFECTIVE! There I've said it, the Sony A7Rii is DEFECTIVE. Don't give them a pass on this. It is UNACCEPTABLE. Name one other product in your possession that this would be OK for? Your car? Your computer? Your phone? This camera is DEFECTIVE, and frankly, a recall is in order.
  11. I recently came across the below video and thought it looked pretty good. This was shot on the NX1. I think it shows that the NX1 can truly be as professional as you choose to make it. In the right hands it can produce very good results. For me this really does beg the question that I'm seeing popping up more and more... Is it worth it to spend $3k + for a camera body when your story could be just as compelling being filmed on a more budget friendly option. And before anyone brings it up, yes yes yes I know about the transcoding from h.265 overhead, but I suspect the downside of h.265 will soon be an upside as support for the new standard becomes widespread. Indeed, in due time I have little doubt many will be seeking out h.265 cameras.
  12. I'm certain it isn't worth three times as much. And with the overheating, I'm not convinced it's worth as much as the NX1... Certainly not if you're using it primarily for video. Imo, the NX1 is punching way above its weight. While I was honestly hoping the A7rii would be an all around champ, the overheating issue appears real, and while it can be mitigated it cannot be fixed (an external recorder defeats the point of this camera). The main flaw of the NX1 H.265, is not really a flaw... It future proofs the NX1.
  13. Well I have to disagree... Sort of... The a7rii is just as much about 42mp images as anything else. So if the goal is an all around camera, then the clear choice is the A7rii.
  14. The ursa mini will support 3k anamorphic.
  15. Reminds me of the Snorricam... I think they could use this as a special effect by going more extreme with it. The they could do another version that is retweaked for DIS. I'm waiting for their next camera. Hopefully it with have 4k @ 60fps and improved dr to go along with a flat unsharpened profile.
  16. So where does this leave us? An otherwise great camera crippled by overheat issues. That ursa mini is seeming a more logical choice right now. Of course there are potentially the usual helping of blackmagic bugs to look forward to.
  17. This looks to be better than the Slr Magic Rangefinder, as it is compatible with front thread ND filters, and if the optical quality is the same as the other Rectilux products it should add nothing to soften the other lenses. Only problem I see is price.
  18. Is this the same as the SLR Magic Rangefinder or is this something totally different?
  19. It seems the op is trying to get us to consider the other qualities of a camera aside from 4k. But this is really a mute point, because there is 4k.
  20. What would you recommend if there were no movies?
  21. I'm thinking the overheat issues are weighing heavily on resale value.
