    A7Sii to be...

Well this fresh review sums up my thinking pretty well "Now, if you are in a rush and have no time/patience to read my full Sony A7rIIreview, let me summarise it for you in two sentences: – Sell your A7s (or any other photo camera that shoots video you currently have)– Buy the new Sony A7rII …. Sony’s engineers did a remarkable job getting it right. I can’t remember myself having so much fun shooting and then looking at the footage with any other photo camera that shoot video since starting reviewing those cameras. (I currently own the Sony A7s andCanon EOS 1DC)." https://***URL not allowed***/sony-a7rii-review-first-impressions-footage/

    A7Sii to be...

Or not to be, that is the question. With the best of both worlds performance of the new Sony A7Rii, are we certain that Sony with release a Mkii version of the A7S? The upgrades needed to make the A7Sii a decidedly better video camera than the A7Rii, would also make it serious competition for the much more expensive FS7. With this in mind the A7Sii's viability come into question. So those of you holding out for a successor to the A7S might be out of luck. You could be playing the "I'll wait for the next model" game for quite a while.
  3. Color me impressed. FF looked pretty good upto 10k. Cropped looked usable upto the limit. It seems like the A7Rii is very flexible. Great for both stills and video. I'm still waiting for more footage... Some cinematic stuff would be great, but I'm starting to see some real potential here. So now the question: How do you decide which glass to buy for this camera? Do you go FF, cropped with speed boaster or both?
  4. Much better review. Your commentary is welcomed. We are interested in how you feel about the camera in real world use. Is it possible to upload higher resolution? Seems YouTube limited it to 1080p.
  5. Well we can expect to see people unloading their A7Ss on ebay and the prices dropping pretty soon, as it seems the A7Rii will be a more balanced camera in a smaller form factor when shooting 4k.
  6. Here's some graded and ungraded footage: Ungraded:
  7. "silent film era" (1894–1929), please do not attempt to bring it back... That is not a review.
  8. Is this right? It looks like the A7Rii has less noise than the A7S!!!
  9. Wow, the full frame RS looks great. Can you do some low-light test also stepping through the various ISO setting?
  10. Low light test would be helpful. Is this good enough to forgo the A7Sii?
  11. Impossible to determine usability without real world footage at different ISO settings.
  12. I've been researching, and doing some comparing to the dedicated anamorphic lenses from Cooke. Granted, those cost much more. I feel it's gives some insight as to how close to the big boy glass this little rangefinder gets.
  13. Awesome! Here's to hoping it blows us all away!
  14. I've heard about using spherical lenses in place of Anamorphic lenses. What are the benefits and which lenses work best in this capacity?
  15. As interesting as the rangefinder is, I am much more interested in the slr magic anamorphic prime lenses that they spoke of. I think a true anamorphic lens is the only way to overcome the short comings of using all of these various adapters. And I also would love to see a sharp anamorphic zoom with a reasonable price tag... That means affordable for normal people... Under $3k.
  16. Color IS subjective. Canons push reds, Sonys lean towards a cooler image. All can be adjusted in post to look however you please.
  17. So Canon simply do not have the technical know-how to create DSLRs that are 4k. Interesting to see them admit this.
  18. The biggest problem with the 1DC is it's price. And I'm not talking it's used price. Used is like a box of chocolates... And since new is $8k, what exactly is the point in comparing the two as if anyone actually cross shops them. If I was seriously considering the 1DC, I would also be seriously considering the Ursa Mini, and the FS7, and the C300 Mkii. So how does the 1DC fair in that company? And I'm talking the total package, IQ, easy of use, media, workflow etc... So given the current options, and the NEW price of the 1DC, how many here plan on picking up a 1DC for $8k new?
  19. Again, you didn't understand the question. Or did you miss the "all else being equal" part? Why not just say you find out the guy with the Alexa is a zombie and ate the last person he worked with? Honest opinion much?
  20. Will you have a review of the Ursa Mini 4.6 vs the 1DC since they are priced very close?(1DC $7999 vs loaded Ursa Mini $4995 + Evf $1495 + Shoulder mount $395 + Battery plate $95 + Battery $218 + Cfast card 2 x 256gb $1198 ($599 each) ). All prices via BH.
  21. All else being equal gear can make a difference. Not sure why everyone keeps bringing talent into the equation. I believe the assumption is that the person buying the "high-end" camera is a professional who is capable of delivering pro level work. And if this is the case other factors now come into play. If not all movies would be shot on $197 camcorders purchased at best buy.
  22. It's almost as though the ursa mini wasn't announced. Save your pennies and get something from 2015 era.
  23. That's great news. Could you do some side by side comparisons of the lens with and without the rangefinder installed? That way we will have a baseline.
