  1. I believe better low light performance trumps global shutter. But as you state $15k with unknown warranty/support is a bit too much of a gamble for most. I believe this camera will soon be in the sub $5k range loaded up. Ursa Mini will kill any hope it had of selling at its current price. Just look a Cion, and those still aren't flying off the shelves. They have to first sell cheap to win over some early adopters. Once they establish a reputation they can demand more. Before that point, it's going to have to be one hell of a bargain.
  2. But would you buy it? Or wait and see?
  3. There's a new Kinemax 6k review up on YouTube. This looks like a interesting camera for what it does and the price point. Believe it is Chinese. Not sure that I personally would take the plunge to be an early adopter, as I do not know very much about Kinefinity. But perhaps once they have a more established track record I would be more open to them.
  4. I would just go for it. Sony is not going to drop the ball with the A7rii. Only reason to wait is if you are holding out for the A7sii... If they make one.
  5. Ok... but no. Your A7ii has a totally different sensor technology than the A7rii. The new chip has memory directly attached to it. This allows it to achieve super fast readouts. Also it is backside illuminated, so it should have a 1-1.5 stop advantage over a similar non-backside illuminated sensor. That's why I figured you must have an A7rii, because doing this test with the older A7 series cameras would yield meaningless results. Oh well, guess still have to wait and see.
  6. This is the graded version of the footage from Philp Bloom. I don't feel this is his most cinematic work. I have mixed feelings about this camera. I love the dr, but... It's the but I can't put my finger on. I guess I'm just not blown away. What do you think? Graded footage
  7. I played with the downloaded footage in Resolve, and believe getting it to look cinematic is pretty easy. There's lots of latitude. I also agree that the AF is the best I have seen yet. The C300 Mk2 is an awesome camera. But... that price? Surely they could have placed it under $10k and still turned a decent profit? Still impressed with the FS7 bang for buck. And we will soon see what the Ursa Mini can do. Good times.
  8. Get the S-Monster. It is pistol grip and converts to two handed. Best of all it can handle 8lbs if memory serves. Hence the Monster part in the name.
  9. His is correct, rolling shutter is better in FF on the A7rii. Check out this review by NeesShooter.
  10. Looks like Blackmagic is having a meet on July 22nd to demonstrate all the products that they announced at nab. Here's a link to register for the event. I would imagine the Ursa and Ursa Mini will both be shown. This will likely be the first opportunity to get a good understanding of the capabilities of the new 4.6k sensor.
  11. The slowmo goes a long way towards making the footage less shaky. But I wonder how useful it is in normal speed.
  12. Price kills this as a reasonable proposition. Too much else out there and most of it sharper. The colors feel very Canon to me, and that's not a bad thing. But I would pass. The lack of a screen that can rotate kills this for self filming also. This feels like a good crash cam for the C300 mkii crowd.
  13. Personally I like the Letus Helix/jr. This is largely because of all the crotch shooters using the more widespread design of the Ronin. Just seems to me that most of the shots I see with the handle on top gimbals are almost always looking up from chest or crotch height. Whereas the Letus lends better to eye level shooting. It can also do briefcase mode, as well as do 360° barrel rolls. Plus the small one can hold 12-16 lbs.
  14. News Shooter did a pretty detailed write-up on the A7Rii. Check it out here. https://vimeo.com/133083372
  15. Well the rumors keep on coming. Heres a link. Taken from the article.
  16. Looks like Sony has posted the A7Rii manual online. You can get it here.
  17. Mattias, I can see how the IS helped, but it still looks handheld. FuzzyNormal's footage looks like it was done on a jib/slider. Fuzzy is a dam ninja!
  18. The NX1 is a great camera. Buy it and make something amazing.
  19. You seem very convinced regarding the new A7Rii. I'll admit, on paper it sounds pretty interesting, but from what I've actually seen, video wise... Well let's just say I'm not sold... yet. And what of the A7Sii? Surely a more compelling choice for people in this forum? If Canon can deliver on the promise of a true successor to the 5D, I'm certain most everyone here would be willing to consider it. Of course it could be a matter of a dollar short and a day late.
  20. Either you're a brain surgeon, or I need to stop drinking coffee.
  21. I like the ability to do slow zooms and simulated slider shots.
