Photo 6K uses H.265 as its base codec and 4K50p/60p 8-bit 420 also uses HEVC.
I wonder if HEVC will come to other 4K modes and if an All-I flavor of H.265 will also come later with the 400 Mbps firmware update or is it the 400Mbps already H.265?
The later firmware update will also add high-resolution Anamorphic Video Mode and Hybrid Log Gamma for 4K HDR Video (for playback on HDR compatible televisions).
Does that mean REC.2020 is also coming?

The reason for the delay is they are going to use the new H265 codec!!!

How fast storage you need really depends on the type of files. In most cases  >300MB/s is enough for the project media. For best performance media cache & scratch files should be in a separate (from OS) very fast drive. Don't waste your money on raiding SSDs for project media files.
For a 2 drive solution with spinning drives to give you that kind of speed you will need to use RAID 0 in which case this is a TEMPORARY storage. You will need to have these files in another place at all times.
RAID 6/10 can give you that kind of performance with redundancy but you will need at least a 4 drive bay. And yes, performance drops as these drives are filled up so if your media files are 8TB plan to have at least 10TB.
See here for some drive optimizations for Premiere (which can easily be extended for other NLEs):
    https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Adobe-Premiere-Pro-CC-2015-4-Storage-Optimization-854/
Its very detailed and you will need to look at RAW benchmark results as well.

I killed my MacBook Pro a couple weeks ago because of this. It was already dyin' due to other issues (graphic cards switching) and it was past it's due date (2010 model). Went out shooting for a couple days at about 0C, second day we wrapped up shooting, went for glass of wine at friend's house, I took the Mac out to download the footage and it was soaking wet. Keyboard gone, touchpad acted crazy. Luckily I had installed SSDs in there so the data was all recoverable, don't wanna know what could have happened if there were old spinning drives in it.

i think you guys should kno that my friend who *cough* works at an  a p p l store said that the new mbps are ALL fucked up in ALL kinds of ways
the 13 and 15" touchbar mbps have been returned for not working for every conceivable reason.... and people have bought them, then exchanged them, not once but twice, only to find that they have problems with a THIRD computer
    so: caveat emptor

Temp mixed with water content of the air. Condensation is more a problem when going from a cold environment to a warm one. The machine is cold and being introduced to warm moisture filled air (because inside houses people breath) creates the condensation. I tend to leave the camera in the bag when going inside and leaving it in there for a little while so it warms up slower.

Does this LUT do additional auto white balancing? Why recommend AWB in camera because most user says AWB makes wrong choices for image? AWB changes also color during a clip. On the other hand I like Panasonic AWB.

A while back, FaceBook was working on a video algorithm that identifies your video through certain unique signatures. Once you upload it to your main FB page, anytime someone uploaded something with a similar one, they'd be flagged for your attention.  AFAIK, it's still in beta.
This is a much better solution than relying on content creators to find and individually flag videos for YT to take it down.
YT could solve this problem if they wanted to do it.

Youtube has always been full of spam. At least for the past 8 years. There are bots set up to rank crappy slideshows for certain phrases, then affiliate links added. They don't seem to care about the duplicate content thing (stolen videos) either. Instead it is up to the maker e.g. Max to go and find all these stolen videos, then create copyright disputes. Youtube then automatically let Max monetize or remove the videos with their own bots. Humans are rarely involved so if Max is new to it and doesn't file the dispute correctly he may lose, plus there is a rather threatening warning that if you claim wrong your channel is at risk.
Youtube has zero customer support. I managed to get an ignorant sentence from an unnamed customer services rep recently. You need to be earning them a lot of money otherwise they arent interested. Even though we have a video with 2.3 million views, no response regarding monetizing it. Vimeo support is excellent, its just a shame they fell so far behind.
We have the number 1 type of video for a certain thing and a hundred more. Youtube has been great as a free advertising platform and free video hosting. But despite 4.5 million views on the channel they are not prepared to let me call, or email me to discuss making money with them with a premium channel. Its crazy, they must of lost massive amounts from us and now we want to go 50-50 on a premium subscription channel they don't care. So we have to make SMART TV apps instead and will continue using them for free promotion and hosting. Sorry my rant went a bit sideways there

A tip of the Hat to you Andrew!
I am a professional video producer and have historically found my business benefits most from focus on story - grading / color has been down on my list of priorities in terms of what my clients notice and pay me for. I have seen a lot of my colleagues get bogged down in grading to the detriment of their delivery schedules.
However This workflow is so easy and fast and the results so powerful that I simply cant ignore it.
Indeed I am noticing dramatic results using the LUTS. Especially highlight roll off and color pop - I have always been a fan of those deluxe reds and blues from Canon and now I have them. Those popping colours are a matter of taste - i like candy colors so I am stoked. but one can always dial them down to taste.  (Of course I am bracing for the usual online slamming about how my colours are all wrong...)
I put together a quick and dirty before (in camera using recommended settings) / after  (LUT applied) edit so you can intuitively feel the difference this LUT workflow makes - In my case on GH4 footage - with an Oly 7-14 at f7.1 - shutter speed way up as i don't have a vari ND set up for this lens yet.
Dont discount setting idynamic range to high if you are in a challenging dynamic range situation - i put an example of this at the end of the video.

LOVING the images I'm getting with this Lut! Gives you a great looking image with one step, and if you want to grade further the images just sings!! I feel that it works great with my grading style! I like to lift the shadows first and extra detail by inverting the image with an adjustment layer, then adding the Pro Color, then grading to taste! Such a great time saver! I'm happy to have this in my arsenal now.

Biggest thing I could hope for from Panny on the GH5 is if they move to the newer H.265 format. That would really free up space for a looser, better Codec.

Thanks for using Pro Color on the video JazzBox.
I see you had contrast -5
It would have looked better with the optimal settings in the guide, which have contrast at 0.
When you set contrast to -5 it doesn't give you more dynamic range.
It reduces the amount of tones between one colour and another = Less colour information in the end result even when you add contrast in post.
This is EOSHD Pro Color for Panasonic with Contrast at 0 (optimal, as in guide):

And this is at contrast -5 (see how the tones on the face are mashed together?):

I made a small tutorial on how to handle out of range video levels in Premiere Pro.
Some cameras record out of range video levels, one of them is the Panasonic Lumix GX85 / GX80 on which this tutorial is based.
Hope this helps and please go easy on me, as this is my first tutorial.
The UHD should be available shortly as YouTube is still processing it.

Use Wordpress and buy a theme which is almost exactly how you want it to be from Theme Forest. Only choose themes made in past year with at least 20 4.5 star overall reviews.
Embedding videos is much easier and it will boost the video rankings on Vimeo or Youtube.
Buy your domain name from internet.bs (avoid GoDaddy they will hammer you with unnecessary addons).  Host it with Hostmonster if in US or Vidahost in UK. Cheapest package is fine. Actually the domain name may be free with the hosting.
Use Tinypng to compress photos or the plugin SmushIt if you want to batch compress. There is also ImageOptim app on Macs for jpeg. Page speed is a big ranking factor for Google.
Dont buy any spam links or it will get banned or penalised in Google. Join Google Analytics and Search Console to help get the pages indexed in Google, get advice and see visitor statistics.
Join Google My Business Local if you want local clients or Brand if not. Make sure the category is right, then get a couple of reviews and it can be a short cut to the top with the Google Maps listings.

Mat Mayer reacted to dahlfors in If I put my laptop outside in cold will it render faster?
If you can lower the temp in one room, lower the temperature to somewhere around 10-14 degrees celsius. Should be a decent operating temperature for the laptop. There's often a major difference in cooling if you can lower the ambient temperature from around +22 degrees celsius to around +16, so a few more degrees cooler might be enough to quit the throttling.
Long-term solution: get a laptop that is made for higher performance tasks for long periods. Probably will take a bit of research to find out which ones are good for such use. MBP are quite decently built for these types of uses.
There's also laptop coolers that transports heat away from underside of computers. These might be a quick aid. They lower the temperature, but don't expect them to fully fix the throttling/overheating issue: http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/best-laptop-coolers.
