neosushi got a reaction from Pavel Mašek in Samsung NX1 - Maximize the "RED" look
Agreed ! I only shared this because I thought maybe the author was referring to this video.
Thanks I actually shot this with the NX1 and a Leica Summilux 50mm (thanks to a very good friend photographer). It's actually a modified NX1 to fit a Leica-M lenses. Regarding the colors it's just a M31 Lut if I remember correctly.
That's my latest work with the NX1 :

100% Agree with you Andrew. I discovered the first footage of the NX1 through your video in Portugal if I recall correctly. Now I'm filming a documentary about handicapped kids in Ukraine with the NX1. This morning we filmed in a swimming pool using an underwater sleeve and it was great. This camera sustained rain, snow, and some falls. We already have over 2TB of footage (using hacked NX1 with 120 to 140Mbs bitrate) and almost shot everything with the 16-50S lens. This thing is so amazing. I keep looking for something better and considered many times changing but after renting a FS5 + Shogun and a BMD Urasa mini, I am keeping my NX1. It just seems the only 4K camera (not talking about Red or Arri) out there that actually resolves a resolution of 4K. Everything else (especially Sony) seems like FullHD + to me. Now it's disconnected... and it sucks.
(also we are using a Lensbaby 56mm macro velvet which is an NX mount lens. Beautiful crazy footage coming out of it ! Very interesting alternative to the 60mm macro Samsung)

I suggest that we use another topic to discuss the Speedbooster for the Nx1.
I know that we don't have much news about the hack development lately but lets keep on topic here, please.

neosushi reacted to NX1user in Opinion wanted ! NX1 footage inside
I don't have a side-by-side comparison for you. The videos I saw, I didn't see much difference either. But since the hack was free I installed it. I notice much less noise in shadow areas and less or zero compression artifacts in things like movement over asphalt, leaves on trees on a windy day. etc. in other words fine details.
The other thing with the NX1 is, like all cameras, it gives you much better results when you light your subjects properly (even when going for the "natural" light look). The NX1, to my eye, has a huge difference in quality between lit and unlit compared to other cameras where I could compare (C100, AF100). ON your subject under the tree, if you had used a reflector or a light, you'd see big jump in quality.
Try either of the hacks first though, they're free. Try the bitrate around 160 or 180. I, along with others, haven't noticed a jump in quality above 180. You just get bigger files for your computer to choke on. The hack is reliable too, I've filmed 50 or so hours since installing without problems. If you have problem though, you might need faster SD card.

neosushi reacted to NX1user in Petition for Samsung NX1 hack
Ha! That is true. The people that have been looking were all people who shoot daily and have used a lot of different cameras. They could care less about it being a dead system, they want it for what it can do today because that's when they are shooting. They also aren't using any Samsung lenses, so that's not an issue either.

neosushi reacted to IronFilm in C300ii has dropped to $12K
My experience with the C300 mk1 (which is similar shape/weight) is I really wouldn't want to use it all day long, unless I had to, even my F3 is better suited to rig up for this, and an FS5 would be far far nicer than either.

neosushi reacted to DBounce in SONY FS5 vs SAMSUNG NX1
Seems there's much you don't know. But for sharpness you might want to try the Samsung 85mm prime... one of the sharpest lenses available by many accounts.
Here's your review.

Prime vs zoom... trying for humor are we?

neosushi reacted to Andrew Reid in I am depressed by the lack of articles on this blog.
A massive part of the internet has gone mobile, which means people's usage and interaction with the medium has changed.
I used to really look forward to spending hours researching a camera, reading an enormous Philip Bloom review with a coffee handy, or watching a nice long informative Camera Store TV review, truth is... how many people are now doing this on a phone, in the 30 or so seconds it takes to distract themselves on a commute to work?
We glance and shim and swipe like hell through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
It's really sad and pathetic actually.
The internet should be much more than that.
I want to find my passion again for the gear, but that too is a little dimmed right now. i enjoy reading a review from someone who's pumped up about a camera or lens, like Steve Huff always is, but more often than not I'm feeling increasingly cynical about this, that somehow it's futile because no matter what is around today, there's always something better right around the corner, eventually it becomes exhausting and really dulls your excitement for new releases. Plus all this gear is costing me an arm and a leg!
