Magenta in the WEX video 100% a result of their grade. Aggressive NR is = YouTube's compression.
So here are some ORIGINAL files to play with straight off my card. 1.4GB's worth.

These are 10bit 422 V-LOG / V-Gamut on default settings. I recommend avoiding VLC Player to look at these especially on a Mac. Messes up the gamma curve. They won't play in Quicktime either. Pop em in Resolve or your NLE of choice and give them a good LUT. I used Fuji's F-LOG to Eterna BT709 LUT which worked well and built in Premiere Arri Amira LUT in Premiere was a good match.

Yes the whole point of ML for me, is that the images are artistic, low-fi, messed-up, film like, amazing to grade... The opposite of modern 8K digital.
No matter how good our expensive full frame mirrorless cameras get, there will always be a place for a ML raw video or Digital Bolex Super 16

Sigma 18-200mm. not very good lens but some shots were impossible without the zoom.

This is because they are doing something that they shouldn't There's nothing wrong with the skintones of this camera, if you use the proper settings and profiles. I'n enjoying the dynamic range also.

We did a little research for an all arounder in the family a couple of months ago and we bought the S9+.
For work, I bought the LG G6 last year, and it is still going strong, recently got Oreo and another upgrade, while its second cam is an ultra wide one, that I enjoy more than any other cam I have ever used (phone cam I meam obv!). Nowwdays is dead cheap too.
LG is back since the G6, and with the new V series. Give them a look.
Another extra is the low SAR numbers of the Koreans. That was one of the selling point for us, while Apple, Xiaomi and Huawei usually are close to the permitted limits.
In day time its processing is more pleasing to me, but in darker environments the small sensor (smaller than the latest flagship phones) is very limited.
All in all, I have vastly better quality with my NX500+30mm 2f pancake, or the 16-50PZ.

The non Pro versio of the Huawei P20 takes better raw pictures than the pro version IMHO. I found out that the best balance between photo and video is in the Samsung Galaxy S9. Best video quality is Sony XZ2 but lacks photo raw support and 4k 60p. Lg G7 also has very nice lens and video but the sensors lack in dynamic range. Its incredible what can be achieved nowadays with a good phone, both in video an photo. Raw helps a lot in photo because jpeg phone algorithms seem to be balanced to social media and to look sharp when reduced to "intagram" size. Xiaomi and ZTE have the best ( natural ) sharpening algorithms IMHO. Apple is out of the game in every way except color.

gatopardo reacted to LippyLee in Lumix/GX80 Cinelike D enabler Android App (with on the fly setting changes)
I've spent a day converting the existing GX80 Cinelike-D hack html file into an Android APK. There's an added color temperature function.
This app should yield some usability advantages as it allows on the fly changes to the various picture profile settings and contains all settings on a single page. It also saves your last selected settings.

    Notes on installation:
-Allow installation of apps from unknown sources

    Instructions for use:
    1. Connect to your camera's wifi network
    2. Start the app
    3. Click handshake (ignore any update warnings)
    4. Click recmode
    5. Change settings before or while filming

    Other notes:
    1. The app may erase existing settings saved in your various picture profiles
    2. Camera IP selection is not yet implemented, apologies to those who do not connect to their cameras directly
    3. Tested on a G7

I have them both and I actually like GX80 colors more. 50 fps 4K is for me the only reason GH5 is a better choice (and to be honest GH5 looks more like a professional camera, as GX80 looks more like a turist toy). I find V-Log unusable colorwise and I don't see a big difference between 10 bit and 8 bit footage.

gatopardo reacted to BTM_Pix in And For My Next Trick....... (aka Why I was hacking the GX80 in the first place)
So as I've hinted more than a few times in the other thread, the discovery of the Cinelike D and other bits and pieces for the GX80 etc was actually a bit of a happy accident while I was trying to do understand the Panasonic wifi stuff for something else.
And here is that something else.
Well at least a prototype of it but it is fully functioning and will just be finessed a bit more.
Basically, its a wireless hardware remote for the G series cameras that operates over wifi and can currently control record start/stop, shutter speed as well as aperture and focus if you're using a native lens, including a single shot AF switch.
For the non-Cinelike D cameras that can now be hacked to have Cinelike D there is also a dedicated button to toggle it on and off so you don't need to mess about with browsers and computers or smartphones anymore.
Focus and aperture control are done on a joystick and everything else is switches.
I'll be putting a layer switch on so that it can be toggled back and forth to a different control mode for ISO, WB and other stuff.
As this is the prototype it is nowhere near the finished piece and it will be reduced in form factor to just be about the size of the control board. Power is by any USB source so there are billions of options.
There is a lot more finessing and feature enhancement to go on with regard to the focus control (and yes, I know exactly what you'll all want it to do !) but the hard part is done now.
It does support the display of the values on a screen and I'll be sorting some options out for that.
The purpose of this gadget is primarily for use with a gimbal but it can also be really useful on a tripod bar for anyone shooting live event stuff. For cameras with inbuilt lenses I'm going to add a zoom mode on the joystick.
A very quick very rough demo so you can see it in action.
Any lag you might see between me operating the controller and the camera video is just a sync issue between me throwing the two recordings on very quickly

The LX100 accepts the Cinelike commands and changes it's colour profile to something unusual.
I'll look at it again at some point as it would be a very cool thing to have on there I think.
