  1. to be honest I thought slog2 held onto highlights better than clog on the C100 did. But the 8 bit was a problem with slog2 on the a6300 sometimes causing strange artefacts and banding, whereas 8 bit on clog seemed to work better. 10 bit slog2 and slog3 from the FS7 had way more highlight retention than the C100 in clog though
  2. So you don't understand how DR is measured but came onto a thread about using manual focus to tell us all that Panasonic is deceiving us. OK, as you were....
  3. Ha yes have had to accept glasses as part of my life now, makes going between viewfinder and screen a little trickier. I also now have XT3, will try your method and see if I can get used to it, can see AF being useful for tracking when only one person is in the scene
  4. There is but it felt like a very clumsy way to choose where to focus, maybe I need to keep at it but it didn't feel very intuitive - I do enjoy focusing manually, feel like I'm more in the scene. I realise tapping the screen is a better way to choose focus but I prefer to use viewfinder and my eyes struggle with a screen up close - that's what happens when you reach 50
  5. I meant how can I tell AF where to focus when using the viewfinder - focus peaking for sure when manual focusing
  6. As I said I like to use the viewfinder especially when going handheld, always have done - how do I tell it what to focus on then? I don't really use a gimbal, I generally prefer handheld aesthetic and feel they are way overused. I trust my manual focus skills more than I do the cameras AF
  7. It is the Film Convert giving the greens that yellowy look, had the same issue when using FC with Canon C100 particularly some of the Fuji presets, Kodak ones seemed a bit more balanced but they all messed with colours too much for my liking
  8. I prefer to focus manually but can't make a lens magically stabilise itself. Make sense? When handheld I like to use the EVF - how do you tell the camera which part you want to focus on when using AF? I don't trust it to read my mind
  9. The EOS-r is the most expensive here in the UK - the S1 is £150 cheaper than the EOS-r, seems much better value to me. Z6 you can get for £720 less than the Eos-r - also great value The S1 to me is the benchmark right now for image quality, colour, DR, IBIS, lowlight and with great 10 bit internal
  10. Would you still be able to get the free V-log key if it's grey import, would you be able to claim it via UK offer?
  11. Their website is full of goodness

    S1 Anyone?

Fantastic news, this camera is the new benchmark for mirrorless video, patiently waiting for sales to tank and for them to slash the prices...

    S1 Anyone?

Ooh the S1 with Voigtlander - what a lovely combination, do you have any footage or screen grabs you could share?
  14. the now free full V-log firmware update which I think comes out in a few weeks will give the S1 the best audio quality of all the mirrorless offerings, especially if you pair it with their XLR microphone adaptor DMW-XLR1
  15. Some great stuff here, the EOS-m looks like a true little bargain thanks to Magic Lantern, shame they haven't got it working on the M50 before I sold it, may have kept me in the Canon family
  16. I have to laugh at your rolling shutter comment after it not being an issue for you on the EOS-r, but you're right about this Hassleblad - it's a beautiful piece of design which keeps some of that classic Hasselblad feel, hope it isn't all form over function and I don't think video was ever going to be high on their list of priorities
  17. Stop with your misinformation and I'll stop calling you out on it. Simple really. Anyway yes sorry Squig, am also interested in your findings
  18. It seems you're now spreading misinformation about other cameras too... as you advised your employer to buy a camera in 2019 that only really works in hd then ok let's talk hd - the Sony A7r3 and A73 have in hd full frame and s35 (according to Samuel from DVXuser whose results I trust) some of the fastest rolling shutter speeds he has recorded. The XT3 isn't bad either. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?303559-Measuring-rolling-shutter-put-a-number-on-this-issue! I can't find any hd measurement for the EOS-r, Samuel said if it was a more interesting camera he would try to measure it. Maybe you could send him a sample and he can put a measurement to it Having had a play with the EOS-r I can say that unfortunately the sharp s35 hd mode you compared to the C100 also has terrible rolling shutter. It is only the fairly soft full frame hd that is useable handheld. Not great in 2019
  19. According to Mattias there is no rolling shutter with the EOS-r ?
  20. that's the S1 which does 4k 60p 8 bit internal 10 bit external, think SH1 is limited to 30p in 6k
  21. I was referring to the SH1 doing 10 bit 422 internal. No other camera in its class does 4k 60p 10 bit 422 internal I've just got an XT3, wonderful camera for its price, have not tested 4k 50p at 400mb for long periods, how long do you think you could record before it overheats? AM curious
  22. I think 10 bit internal may have quite a bit to do with it. And Sony don't seem to care too much about their 8 bit cameras overheating
  23. Although talking of cameras under £10k the Varicam LT is now under £9,500 (I realise you need to spend more to get it up and running) and that image is hard to beat. The S1 and SH1 would be great b cam and gimbal cams to the Varicam with their 14 stops DR full V-log and Varicam colour gamut and 10 bit 422 internal. Neither Sony or Canon have such a small camera with high DR and 10 bit internal to support their higher end stuff, (although the lenses obviously have different mounts)
  24. for a feature film and with RAW internal yes I think the UMP4.6k has the best image of all cameras under £10k, at those used prices I would go for it
  25. The Canon c100 is a great camera with a lovely image for 8 bit, is a pity Canon never seemed interested in supporting it with a decent hybrid b cam. BM pocket 4k is a great camera too, but rightly or wrongly is haunted by the 'unreliable' reputation that has preceded other BM cameras. Is a pity as the image is wonderful, hopefully it will gain in trust and we get to see more of them used in productions
