Nikon will announce Z6s/Z7s updates, with dual card slots and 4K 60fps

Sorry if you get that impression, I'm not stalking you just found your comment a little ironic after the discussion the other day. Anyway hopefully no harm done, I come in peace, back to the Z50... -

Sorry for the slight off topic but it's funny you didn't describe the canon RP (1.6 crop) in such disparaging terms when you were bigging it up against the Fuji XT3 the other day. I think the z50 has its place although I agree that it is going to have a hard time against its more established mirrorless competitors until the price goes down even if it does seem a better spec'd camera -

John Brawley has said they are still tweaking the IR filter and it will be a different one on the final camera release From.dvxuser.com IR filtering is still being tweaked. My comments wouldn’t mean much because I had a prototype camera that had a different IR filter than what will ship so that’s a bit difficult to draw conclusions from. I used all internal ND’s on my shoot. There was also a calibration difference with my camera that wasn’t picked up till recently. Most of the RAW files are shot at the default WB of 5600K +10, which is the “standard” BMD daylight default. BUT When you start to go into he RAW tab you’ll find it’s really about -500K to -1000K (Less warm) and -5 to -10 tint (less magenta) I didn’t change these on my initial clips, but I have on these ones... https://vimeo.com/440479199 Which also by the way show the 8K and 4K modes 🙂 -
Disappointed in the Canon R6 - Coming From A Canon User
ade towell replied to herein2020's topic in Cameras
Ok yes you're right let's stop asking for useful things to make our lives easier and products better. Point is it would be in Canon's interest to make one, would certainly add a few possible extra sales (me included) and make their product at least as 'usable' a video camera as the competition. You wouldn't have to buy it if you didn't want to -
Disappointed in the Canon R6 - Coming From A Canon User
ade towell replied to herein2020's topic in Cameras
It's called an XLR adaptor and is a seperate item from the camera itself but integrates well - the Panasonic one is great with 24 bit high quality XLR audio into the camera, what's not to like? The Sony one could do with an update as it's not made as well and is 16 bit but still a really good addition to their mirrorless cameras - I do think it would be great if Canon made one, with that and the ef vari nd adaptor they have for the R mount it would turn the R6 and R5 into pretty impressive video cameras when you need it -
But then you need one set of lenses for full frame photos, one for crop video... Anyway hope the OP has enough to chew on to make their own decision
-
But he says he wants to film in 4k... Anyway no worries the OP can decide for themselves what is important - I guess to me the difference in video performance is so big between the 2 cameras I find it hard to fathom on a video centric forum the RP being suggested as a better choice than the XT3. The quality comparison isn't even close
-
You don't need to film in 10 bit to see the difference in video quality of each camera - not just in DR and RS, in 4k which the OP mentioned wanting to use the RP doesn't have DPAF so the AF advantage goes to the Fuji. There's 4K up to 60p with Fuji compared with 30p of the RP, and the 120p of the Fuji is also very usable. The video quality of the RP is poor in my opinion. For photos the RP does have full frame and slightly better AF Just think we owe it to the OP to give them the full picture
-
But the OP said he wanted to make videos in 4k, even as a die hard Canon fan you can't really recommend the RP for video over Fuji XT3 can you
-
That crop would make the 35mm pretty limiting on the RP if as stated the OP wants to film in 4k with no budget for anything else
-
It's all subjective but I prefer the colour of my Fuji to my C100 particularly skin tones. If video is important the XT3 is a much better camera, true if full frame and AF are more important then get the Canon or buy a speedbooster and get full frame look for the Fuji. Can't full;y remember but hasn't the RP got terrible RS ,a big crop and no AF in 4k?
-
That sounds like a good deal. The XT3 is no slouch as a stills camera too. Maybe get the 18-55mm 2.8-4 and a prime or too within your budget, sell your m43 lenses and adapt your Nikon
-
For video definitely not

Your ignorance is overwhelming. And I thought you were a real DP the way you big yourself up in that hot air way of yours John Brawley uses BM cameras with Alexa all the time on real sets on big productions. Check out this recent thread for example on dvxuser, the guy is a fountain of knowledge http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?367345-John-Brawley-s-quot-The-Great-quot-on-Hulu&highlight=brawley

Blackmagic casually announces 12K URSA Mini Pro Camera
ade towell replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
It's definitely going to give RED a run for its money. That you can film in so many different resolutions of BRAW is huge ,there's even 6k super 16 mode for documentary type stuff -
But I love that they're thinking out of the box and giving something new, why create what every body else is

I said it in the other thread which is now getting a bit fractious but I think they're going for RED's market -

Yes I think the hi res BRAW in this camera is going to be much more useful and workable than the huge 8k RAW of the overheating R5. The beauty of being able to shoot at different resolutions in BRAW is genius -

apparently it edits very smoothly on 2017 laptops -
https://vimeo.com/436209544 RS figures sound amazing, JB says RS is 15ms at 12k and 6ms at 8K.
-
I think they're going for RED's market more than anything
-
I guess it's all subjective but I prefer the image quality of the BM Ursa to the Sony and Canon, it's all the other usability stuff where the Japanese companies excel. That it can do 4k 6k 8k 12k Raw opens up all kinds of possibilities
-
JB has said it's not a Bayer sensor and did 12k edit and colour on 2017 laptop
