  1. I don't have experience on Kowa, but Iscomorphot 8/1.5x I do have. If you want small, not dual focus and dreamy looking anamorphic it's for you. But if you are looking sharp glass even in small apertures then it definetly isn't for ya! Let the images talk for themselves: Entire video shot with GH4 Helios 44-2 58/2 and SLR Magic 35/T1.4 and ofcourse that Iscomorphot in the front. I wanted and maximized the dreamy look. I love it but it's not for everyone or every video.
  2. Oh, is it? Phew... Thanks for info. Haven't tried that. A bit shame. They must correct that if that photo mode is even ever meant to be used with anamorphic lenses... Does anyone know the answer for my earlier question? Iscomorphot 8/1.5x with this MustHD monitor: is there way to see it de-squezed correctly in some of those aspect modes?
  3. If I shoot with my GH4 in photomode wih 3:2 aspect and use my Iscomorphot 8/1.5x - am I able to get correct aspectratio with this MustHD monitor? In 2.35:1 mode? If yes, then this is a must buy! :)
  4. I have SLR Magic 12mm T1.6, 25mm t0.95 and 35mm t1.4. I don't have much experience from the Rokinon lenses but some. Those are good also and good if you want to use speedbooster. SLR Magic lenses doesn't allow that. But they are smaller, great build, got some nice character,(beautiful flares and bokeh) and not extreme expensive. I have been thinking if I could find Duclos modificated Rokinon set from Europe I might get those. They are announcing them in near future. They have removed some coating from the lens so those should flare quite a lot. Sounds good for me :) Personally I don't like panasonic 12-35 look. Too sharp and hate the aperture changes during zoom. It should be constant aperture but it isn't quite that...
  5. I don't remember exactly what was the station that I shot at. I tried to google German underground station that has longest escalators. Hmm... Maybe it was that Hauptbahhof that you mentioned? Nice to hear that you appreciate using tripod in these shots. Actually I have had quite a while this "I want to shoot long takes on a tripod and trust that those takes last". I do this for living also and now days it feels every project are so "quick and dirty", "fast cuts", "handheld", "faster, faster, FASTER". That I'm a bit tired of it. I shot quite long takes when doing this. It came even bit faster tempo because of the music that I orginally thought. But works quite well for my like. Viewers are getting so fast tired for the footage if nothing happens... Just like people are today. If Google page isn't opened in three seconds after clicking the browser icon, you flip out "what the hell!" :D Thanks for watching, liking and commenting! :)
  6. I was on a vacation at Berlin. Wanted to capture some moments from that lovely city by day and night time. Sidenote for myself: don't shoot anythingat the underground stations with a camera, because almost got arrested about that. :l Please check and comment, Thanks!
  7. My cards are these Transcend 64 GB UHS-3 cards: ' alt='' class='ipsImage' > But if it is because of the card speed shouldn't the problem most likely be in 4k mode, because then the card write/read limit is most demanding? My problems occured only in slow-mo 96fps mode.
  8. I have installed this new firmware 1.1 and have had trouble with the slowmo shooting mode @ 96fps. Camera has freezed totally severall times during recording. Only way to get past that is to pull the battery out and put it back in. A bit annoying when u are in the middle of shooting and you are loosing some important stuff because of that freeze... No other problems have popped out, yet.
  9. Thanks Rungunshoot! Oh, it's the Vimeo embedding / system that is darkening the image a bit? Have been thinking about that why it is like that. On my desktop files look okay but after upload I see that darkening. Thanks for the tip. Have to remember this in future.
  10. Great tip nahua. And simple practical way to see it by eye. Have to perform that tip with my adapter and taking lens sometime. It's shot with Panasonic GH4 with Iscomorphot 8 1.5x adapter + Helios 40-2 and SLR Magic 35 1.4T lenses. Dreamy look was something that I fast after when making this video. Actually I prefer the dreamy and soft image look really much. It's quite personal thing, I think. Even the GH3 image with sharp panasonic lenses was something that I didn't like. Too sharp for my eyes, had to blur in post :) And GH4 with 4K is stepping again in new dimension with sharpness. Iscomorphot should allow focus racking and only focus from the adapter. Although I noticed when I was shooting this video that focusing on both taking&adapter did help to focus more closer. But thanks again Matthias for clearing things out. I am going towards conclusion here that... Just judge yourself what aspect you prefer and don't think too technically these things. As always should go. Don't think too much technics but the content and final output :)
  11. Thanks for the tip. So as I shoot with 1.5x adapter in 16:9 sensor native stretched HD resolution would be 2880x1080 and squeezed would be 1920x720. Is that right? Maybe I should try that next time :)
  12. Bad to hear that this problem is in other cameras also. I have tried several cables also. And it's just clear that the HDMI port is faulty. If I put side by side other cameras with micro HDMI port those works great and looks a bit different. GH4 HDMI port's pins are too high. My body is going to exchange as soon as I'm not as busy with paid jobs that I can wait for the repair/new body. Anyone has experiences with Panasonic warranty/repair service? Especially the European service, cause I'm from Finland. Please tell if you have some experience. Thanks!
  13. Thanks for the comments! It's always so exciting to see what happens with different music and sounds. It will have a whole different feeling and story going on with the music above.
  14. Thanks for comment and liking! :) You might be right. That's the problem I have had with this first anamorphic project and in the future also if I don't get it right. Actually I have this problem always that it's a bit difficult for me to see if something is not in right aspect ratio. Have watched many movies that are 4:3 in 16:9 and then noticed after watching that "oh, it was 4:3 movie" when been looking dvd box :D If you know, or anyone else what the aspect ratio should be please help. This was made in Premiere pro using these values that Matthias posted above. I made sequence 2560x1080 and stretched the image vertically to fill entire image area. Then exported as 1920x816 (also had to stretch there again a bit because it left in top and bottom some black bars) and I chose "stretch to fill". So please someone clear this for me how should I do it.
  15. Thanks for the help guys! Here is what I got together from the material:
  16. Earlier in anamorphic forum I asked advice for export options for my first anamorphic material shot with GH4. So here is the result from my shooting: After encoding to Vimeo, material looks a bit darker. Don't know why. Exported master file isn't as dark. Maybe it is because the h.264 encoding? Please comment and share if you like, thanks! :)
  17. I am also interested to know the workflow for gh4 cinema 4k + anamorphic combination. Asked about this in my recent topic about anamorphic rendering out of NLE with correct settings...
  18. Oh, didn't known that there is micro hdmi cables that are different versions. Thanks a lot for the info. Just bought this cable from ebay and it was branded to use with black magic pocket camera. Thought it would fit put seems like it won't. Where should I buy the right cable and how do I regonize this "new" version micro hdmi cable?
  19. Well it has to be damaged in the factory/assembly because mine hasn't got any hits or anything that would have caused some damage. Sad thing because I'm afraid that I have to be quite a while without my camera if it goes to warranty :/ hope that Panasonic has good warranty services.
  20. Hi there anamorphic shooters! I need someone to explain me as clearly as possible how am I going to get right aspect ratio and best result out from Premiere Pro after editing some anamorphic material. Sory if this is stupid question but I am a bit lost all the settings and aspectratios etc. So, I bought Iscomorphot 8/1.5x adapter. Shot with GH4 and now I have edited my video and would like to export it. I have on timeline material that is shot in 1080p and 4k (yes, that was my mistake. Wanted to shoot all 4k but first day shootings came back in 1080p thought I was shooting 4k) 4k is shot in 3840x2160 (after my 1080p mistake thought it would be easier to get these two format to match in edit.) I have bought Andrew's great anamorphic shooters quide but still after reading it I am bit confused. If I now want to export best quality anamorphic video out from my Premiere for web use: 1. Just output 1920x820 (for 2.66:1 ratio) resolution from Premiere? 2. Should I first export the 4k files and bring them back in right resolution (1920x820) and after that render everything out again? Sorry for quite long text. But hope someone could help me with this, thanks! Ps. If I shoot more anamorphic videos in future, should I use GH4 4k UHD (3840x2160) or 4kC (4096x2160)?
  21. Did you notice any difference with my hdmi port compared to yours? Does your hdmi port have those pins up there like mine has?
  22. Hi! Been enjoying my GH4 until I needed to use my external monitor with it... I tried to plug my micro HDMI to HDMI cable to camera and noticed this problem when plugin it in. It won't fit there easily and actually haven't got it to work at all. So I thought that I bought wrong cable or the cable is faulty. But tried the monitor with my sony rx100 and gopro 3+. Works with both of them. So could someone who has used hdmi port on gh4 to confirm if my hdmi port looks a bit wierd? (images attached below) There is these two pins that are too high up from the bottom of the port? Or did Panasonic reinvent the HDMI micro port to sell some Panasonic branded cables... Don't think so.
  23. Hi! Long time reader, first time posting. I am going on a holiday to Germany, Berlin next week. Been there few times and really like the town. Now I would like to shoot some footage there. Mostly been thinking shooting on streets capturing moments of everyday life. So I am asking some advice from you guys that been/live there. Where is some good looking shooting locations in Berlin? I am moving light, walking and with train/bus. Some rough looking places would be awsome also! :) -Teemu-
