Vesku reacted to hyalinejim in GH5 - How do I use BOTH manual and auto focus?
Honestly, some things are just mind boggling though. Why not allow the shutter half press to perform the function of the clicking AF button?
Why not allow Continuous AF ON / OFF to be assignable to a Fn key? Yet I can assign a million other silly things I'll never use...
Why no ISO on the jog dial? It would be truly useful there. There is the possibility to assign a Fn key with the ability to switch the shutter and aperture dials to ISO and WB. But if you press the same key again - you can't switch them back! It's fucking madness, I tell you. Madness.

Ken, I am seeing micro vibration in your video shooted with 14-140mm lens. Is the GH5 IBIS working properly? The 14-140mm OIS makes strong vibration but DUAL IS should fix it. This video needs post stabilization. AF works quite well. I dont see hunting. There is still not very difficult movement, just slow walking at constant speed.

It is good news the GH5 shutter is quiet. My GH4 shutter is disturbingly loud in many situations and causes soft images by shutter shock.

So it was cosmic rays and radiation (from the sun) as I thought in the first place.

Cosmic rays maybe, radiation from Botanical gardens nuclear power plant, magnetic field of electric fence, dark energy....
    Is the damage permanent?

I think this video is for stabilization comparison, not for skin tones. The scene has very difficult lights, yellow low sun and sky blue everywhere in snow and shadows. What is right or good skin tone in the first place? People generally has very different skin colors. This GH5 video shows quite low dynamic range but it is maybe poor due to settings.

The difference is quite big but the GX85 fullhd is also good. You have lots of movement and soft backgrounds so the resolution difference is not visible all the time. I shoot a lot static or slow moving sharp nature clips so the clean resolution shows better.

One user says Panasonic G-cameras (G7, G80, GX80 etc) has different 4k 100Mbs codec than GH4. Any opinions?

Thanks for sharing. I liked the video quality and good stabilization of G85/14-140mm II. I liked the colors, sharpness and calm camera handling. Low light is quite good with f3.5. I have 14-140mm II/GH4 and the lens OIS is vibrating badly. Glad to know when I get GH5 I can use the 14-140mm with good quality.
Can you remember what settings you used in this video? Profile, contrast, NR, sharpen, exposure mode, possible idynamic etc

My opinion is that Panasonic colors are accurate and close to what an eye sees. Usually no need to add red. Canon colors are too sweet and warm and little unrealistic.

The aperture is not moving in photo mode until you take the final image. It stays fully open for focusing. If you use manual photo mode (M) and "Constant preview" from custom menu the aperture changes when composing an image. The "Constant preview" is always ON in video mode.
    Can this be your issue?
Can I ask is there aperture auto exposure stepping with Pana lenses when using video mode S in GX85?

"GH5 becomes the first Panasonic to allow the use of Auto ISO in manual exposure mode. It also maintains exposure compensation when doing so. This is true for both stills and video....you can now set the minimum shutter speed threshold before the camera raises ISO"

"Like many other recent cameras the GH5 also has a built in stereo mic. What’s different is that it has an extra little internal mic that acts as a reference to cancel and reduce noise."
Is this a counter noise tech for IBIS hissing?
Same battery as GH4. Good. I have 6.

There is still some NR even with NR -5. When using 4k photo there is less NR at same setting as with 4k video.

Tomorrow is the premier of GH5. The camera will be in stores later in spring. They are making final adjustments for FW. I hope the GH5 will have:
-auto iso in M with EC for photos and video
-auto iso and shutter speed limit for photos and video
-showing exposure values in all video modes
-semi-auto exposure mode for video. Exposure, focus and AWB sets when starting the video and then stays unchanged. Canceled by pressing AE-lock.
    -separate AE-lock, AF-lock and WB-lock (FN-buttons)
    -all menu items for FN-buttons
-during dialing iso should not block seeing other values
-AF+MF should work all the time when ON. (not only with half press)
-manual focus shift (focus pull) via FN-buttons with adjustable speed
-EV comp and video buttons programmable for FN use.
    -adjustable EVF sharpness
    -EVF protecting cover
-sensor zooming or different crops for 4k video
-more accurate and wider histogram with better warnings (like in Olympus)
-My menu for favorite menu items
-symbol for idynamic and wind filter in displays
-ability to save the whole camera setup with names like indoors, outdoors, etc
    -more range for bracketing (-2,0,+2)
-play button to right side via FN-button
    -iso100 for video
-no need for using everything in manual if using very slow shutter for video (less than 1/25s)
These are little things and mostly doable with FW programming.
