AF sampling speed changing with shutter angle?? This is interesting. I wonder how it works with 4k 60P? What happens with Panasonic lenses?
    Thanks for sharing Emanuel.

Does it show exposure info (aperture, SS and iso) in all video modes? For example auto iso reading in manual mode?

GH2 has poor dyn range, much noise, ugly greenish color science, aliasing and unreliable hacks. The only good thing is the wider sensor. It was very good in 2012 but not today.

I just found a new cinema tech introducing 10 times more light than current best cinema projectors. In dark theater the reflecting light pollution ruins the contrast but this will be interesting.

There is surprisingly little talk about GH5. The new HLG profile makes it very interesting without paying additional cost of vlog-L. Most users have not figured it yet.  HLG also helps with  noise issues of GH5. The HDR is also difficult subject and makes too nervous conversations and confusions.

Thats it! The IBIS hum is probably the reason GH5 must cut low frequencies  of internal audio.

There is not always a "subject" in video. Ambient sound is quite often all I need. If I want to hear someone talking I try to put the camera as close to subject as I can. A good directional mic would be helpful with people talking in noisy places. A good mic is of course better than in camera mic. In my videos the in camera mic has been good enough. I just dont like the way GH5 limits low frequencies.
A big mic may be a bit scary too for a subject if I want the most natural or "stealth" recording. Also in some places it makes too much attention to use a big mike. The guards or officials may want to stop me shooting if they think I am making a video story or documentation. With a plain GH5 I can shoot more freely and without too much attention of others.

Odd talking in technical hobby forum. You this, you that, You are ...., you cant, you dont understand....etc, etc.
Have I never said anything personal to anyone. English is not my mother language so I can not be so sensitive and polite all the time. I want to talk about camera features. If I have different opinions about gear is that rude? If I share my findings about my GH5 or my TV how can it insult you? Is there only one right and proper way to use our gear? Is it insulting to use camera differently than your way. Why it is bad to be exited about hobby? Is it important to share private videos online? Is it wrong to share information of hopes or issues?
We have here in Finland very dark, depressive and wet season. I have now plenty of time to test my cameras and talk about my hobby online. Can you find my posts during last summer? What do you think I was doing? Yes I was shooting videos, thousands and thousands and my GH5 worked brilliantly. There is still always room for improvement. I am waiting new GH5 updates and new features. I hope Panasonic makes GH5 even better.

Thanks, very interesting and deep. One little fact popped to me:
" ...the standard for peak luminance in the movie theater has long been only 48 nits..."
Even SDR videos/movies looks more vivid and colorful at home with at least 100 nits TV and even brighter. HDR in big TV is many many times more life like than a dim film in theater. I was in IMAX theater last weekend and the image was very dim and low contrast. I think it was about 25 nits but the screen was big. There was no true color and no whites. I also watched earlier The Revenance in big 4k theater and the image was very dim in big screen.

Your LG OLED can show in theory the infinite amount of dynamic range in black room. For example from 0.001 Nits to 700 Nits = contrast ratio 700 000:1. It is about 20 steps of light intensity difference. Another thing is how much the files contains captured dynamic range and how coarse is the reproduction of that brightness scale. 10bit has less banding and smoother gradations than 8bit but the extreme whites and blacks are the same.
So there are at least 3 different factors of dynamic range:
    1. captured (scene) dynamic range (GH5 about 12-13 stops, Cine camera 15 stops)
    2. Display contrast ratio difference from black to white (LCD about 1:2000 and OLED 1:infinite).
    3. Display/file ability to show smooth gradations between black/white and ability to show wide range of colors in all brightness levels (LCD better in whites, OLED better in dark tones).
To show extreme dynamic range we dont need super bright display. We can have better dyn range also by darkening the blackest black levels. It is the difference (contrast ratio) what matters.

Maybe Panasonic finally removes the blinding of exposure info. Maybe finally I can see what shutter speed, aperture or iso the camera is using during video recording if using  P, A, S or auto iso.

    From Dolby test laboratory: https://blog.dolby.com/2013/12/tv-bright-enough/
"...At Dolby, we wanted to find out what the right amount of light was for a display like a television. So we built a super-expensive, super-powerful, liquid-cooled TV that could display incredibly bright images. We brought people in to see our super TV and asked them how bright they liked it.Here’s what we found: 90 percent of the viewers in our study preferred a TV that went as bright as 20,000 nits. (A nit is a measure of brightness. For reference, a 100-watt incandescent lightbulb puts out about 18,000 nits.)..."

On an average sunny day, the illumination of ambient daylight is approximately 30,000 nits.  http://www.generaldigital.com/brightness-enhancements-for-displays

Vesku got a reaction from jonpais in GH5 all-i 400Mbs vs ipb 150Mbs frames comparison:
Yes if your video contains 400% enlargements of stopped frames of complex motion
Editing should be easier but the management of large files can eat that benefit out.

GH5 all-i is pretty constant 400Mbs static or moving. 150Mbs is also quite constant 150Mbs although it is variable about 145-155 Mbs.
I remember GH3 all-i was very variable and seldom reached its maximum.

I made many tests today. My final conclusion:
All-i is better with complex motion. A surprise is that ipb is little bit better in static scene. It compresses the important i-frame less. The difference is very small. Motion difference is bigger but still quite marginal.
A static comparison first and moving second (red). I hope this site dont re-compress my images.

Vesku got a reaction from maxotics in HDR on Youtube - next big thing? Requirements?
Yes I have found the same thing. HDR demos in stores shows often normal contrast scenes adjusted very contrasty and colorful. The result is over saturated and eye watering unnatural images. When I go outside I dont see over saturated world. The normal world is actually quite dull and boring color wise. A good HDR system should show high contrast and high color only if the subject has it. Just like a good audio system is not making too much bass or too load sound all the time (Action movies does ) .
It is a difficult question. If the HDR system works right the image should look majority of time normal. Only the high contrast/high color scenes will look different. But it is difficult to sell a new expensive system which looks the same as old majority of time. Film makers must find shocking colors and sunsets to make HDR shine but in normal life there are not so many shining moments.

GH5 has 6k video. It has many times more 10bit information than GH5 normal 4k 10bit video. The 200Mbs ipb h.265 codec has enough bitrate and data. It lacks 24P but maybe FW update will fix it.

Vesku got a reaction from Emanuel in GH5 - How do I use BOTH manual and auto focus?
I have been asking this question for many years with my GH2, GH3 and GH4. To enable continuous AF I must browse menus  using about 10 button presses at worst.
I also wonder why it is impossible to use separate AF-lock and AE-lock. And why single autofocus AFS is disabled with 6k photo? Why AF+MF works only with half shutter ruining the effect?
