Yes, prototypes to test tech and demonstrate capabilities to Nikon, Fuji and the m43 world - companies that are all reliant on Sony. Sony's sensor division does huge business, cutting into that pie and eating a competitors lunch makes sense for another giant electronics conglomerate. A NX-whatever simply doesn't in any way.

For sure that NX2 will come out in the same day of Breccia's Canon GX9 MKIII.

No way that this camera is real. Even not considering the unreal specs, creating a camera to promote the Galaxy S9 would be insane - most of the smartphone users don't give a damn for traditional cameras.

If Samsung wished that, making a ultimate vlogger camera would make much more sense - a 1" sensor with Dual Pixel, small form factor, foldable LCD, mic input, 4k120p, good fixed lens. Throw a new and easy way to connect the camera with with S9 (or even use the Exynos modem in the camera) to share fotos, and you have a winner with a much lesser cost and much more target to the intended audience.

Hmmm... rereading the rumor - it does appear to be in two parts. Part one, is that Samsung has designed/made a very high end (mirrorless) apsc image sensor. A lot of impressive detail in this part of the rumor. Part 2 of the rumor is speculation that this image sensor is going to be utilised in a resurrected NX2 (which sounds pretty unlikely.)
But just because NX2 resurrection is a non-starter doesnt mean that they are not developing the sensor. Why should Samsung leave the high end image sensor market up to Sony especially as they know that Nikon and Canon dont particularly like sourcing from one of their competitors (Canon uses Sony's 1 inch sensor.) Canon and Nikon would be bonkers not to put this tech and this sort of sensor into their mirrorless offerings. And quite frankly from Samsung's perspective, these sensors in Canikon bodies will show off their smartphone 'image sensor' tech far more than any fleeting interest in an NX2.

Plastic explosives could be hidden inside a working LiPo battery (Lithium by itself can explode and burn just by contacting water). Checked bags get heavier screening for bomb chemistry via high-energy devices: http://www.sds.l-3com.com/products/explosivedetect.htm. Additionally, checked bags are stored inside more resilient containers in the cargo hold vs. the relatively thin airframe where passengers sit. A bomb might also be used to gain access to a locked cockpit.
These directives come from intelligence agencies and were also implemented on various levels from the prior administration, only now becoming politicized and amplified by people unable or unwilling to seek the truth, unaware that they are pawns in a much bigger plan. The programming is brilliant as the victims aren't even aware of what's been done to them, where their first unconscious reactions are typically expletives, irrational behavior, silliness, ad hominem, and complete inability for calm, rational, and polite discussion when their programming is challenged. How effective and deep does this unconscious programming go? Does Shaq really believe the Earth is flat, or is he just trying to get traffic for his podcast? http://gizmodo.com/some-photos-of-earth-for-shaq-who-thinks-the-earth-is-1793422926
I've been studying the comment sections on MSM sites (all sides), comments on this forum too, and most people don't realize how close we are to nuclear annihilation. Everyone is acting like children insulting the previous and current leadership and each other. No one is trying to get along or solve the bigger issues. This is what the people behind the curtain want- everyone fighting each other! If the rumors of alien overlords here to protect us are false*, we're in big trouble if we don't start working together to live in harmony with each other and the planet. It looks like a highly advanced civilization on Earth was destroyed about 12,000 years ago. Are we going to repeat it? Will the iRock and iStick become the cool new gadgets?
    * UFOs look more like advanced terrestrial vehicles from everything I've seen. 99.999% look like hoaxes (nice job decorating your "UFO" like a Christmas tree). Truly alien or interdimensional vehicles could be invisible to us.

Sorry that you feel sorry for being white. Sorry that you are offended by something that doesn't affect you. Sorr.. who am I kidding, nah I don't care haha. All countries are not the same. There are good countries, like New Zealand, and bad countries, like everywhere else. Anything to keep me safe is good. Apart from those nudy xrays at the airport - that's not cool - although I understand why they want to see my body, it's glorious.

Interesting preliminary review... Great work finding out about the live HDMI output in 4k 422. The information I had read said this was NOT the case. Wonderful surprise!
After playing with the GX80 for the last couple of days, I've noticed some things:
    1) Having a stabilised, sharp manual focus preview REALLY helps getting a lock-on quickly with older lenses.
    2) It's a shame I can't keep the magnified view during focus AFTER half-pressing the shutter or starting a video recording.
    3) The back wheel for adjusting shutter speed/aperture is too stiff and has a protrusion just under it, making it difficult to turn and press.
    4) Personally, I haven't seen any moiré, but I didn't do any technical tests. My GX7 would have had in the same situations.
    5) Audio sounds like there's a faucet running in the distance whenever IBIS is on. Really, it's only good for syncing in post, I imagine.
So far, I'm enjoying it and the GX80/85 seems to be a great camera for both stills and video.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been looking into this over the past few weeks. Terms get thrown around all the time and there's quite a bit of confusion regarding lenses and sensor size. Here are my notes:
Focal length = angle of view, Perspective = camera to subject distance, F-stop = depth of field, T-stop = light coming into the lens and hitting the sensor
What makes a lens great = high micro-contrast, high sharpness across the field, low distortion, round bokeh balls, low chromatic aberration, no vignetting, and maintains colors, easy-to-use, durable. Seemingly mathematical, but if you like the look, you like the look. It's more subjective than people think.

William Koehler reacted to Andrew Reid in Is the majority online really idiots? (Ghostbusters Trailer)
People are all entitled to not like a film for whatever reason they care to choose.
It does not make them misogynists.
I honestly don't think anyone 15-35 of my generation even know what sexism is any more.
The term is applied so liberally to so many things.
People need to learn the difference between prejudices, tastes, personal preferences and the -IST words.
You might prefer pizza over burgers. This is a preference for pizza, it is not a form of food-racism.
I am sure many of the people upset at the new Ghostbusters movie are just saying that the don't like it, rather than saying that they think men are superior to women, whites superior to blacks, slimer superior to marshmallow man.
I think if they substituted Lara Croft with Rambo in the next Tomb Raider, fans of the series would be equally disappointed. And that is mostly the sentiment here.
I am sure we all have our preferences when it comes to much loved 80's films and what made them work in the first place. For me the male buddy-comedy central characters were a big part of that.
This does not make my opinion sexist.
Now some will say that preference for a male cast is sexist... some will say it is anti-feminist, anti-woman, even anti-ghost.
This shows they do not know the definition of terms like sexism and racism.
    Do I like the trailer?
    Nah.
Fan edited one is better than the studio's own!
It is definitely not a feminist film despite what the marketing and the gender of the cast wants you to believe. Crude vagina joke, lame script, poor VFX.
The reboot is far more a cynical box office plot to appeal to a larger female demographic than anything else.

Panasonic has done a great job of steadily and vastly improving the GH line of cameras.  It is coming up on a year and half since the GH4 was announced, much less actually available for sale, several FREE firmware updates have been released with additional functionality, and they still get trashed for not providing the next FREE firmware update on OUR schedule, whatever that might be?  I'm sorry, but to me the #1 problem is expectations outrunning what is realistic.

The A7RII isnt even out yet, and for some reason this makes the GH4 (which is now over a year old and a third of the price) insignificant? Do brand new camera releases suddenly mean the previous awesome camera (GH4) isn't awesome enough to film with?
I haven't bought a GH4, A7S, NX1, FZ100, LX100, G7.. (or any other 4k mirrorless). Still using my GH3 as the small camera. It does fine, still makes money. Doesnt have V Log or 4k and is just as good as when I bought it 2 and a half years ago. All on cheapo FD lenses.
Firmware is a simple equation. Either crippled for product segmentation or promising the world (whilst delivering poorly in other key areas such as battery life!). Let's just buy ALL the cameras and we can have all the firmware we want!
I do agree firmware is very important though. Poor firmware affects my creativity. The slow, sluggy speed of the FS7 menus means I have less time to work on the shot. The Monitor LUT dissapears. WHY!? The 1DC (official cinema DSLR champion) doesn't have peaking. And this camera launched for $634,000,345 as a Cinema EOS whatever thingy.
"Modern" firmware is the way forward. Samsung has ideas and Blackmagic really seem to be onto a really simple, inutitive, elegant system. Sexy.

While I agree that V-log on the GH4 should be released Asap, since it is already late I kind of disagree on releasing lots of firmware updates.
I feel that Samsung should have done more to make the H.265 format more editing software compatible. That is doing its bit for greater sync. The biggest complaint of users was inability to use the codec either completely, or fast enough, and that workflow was seriously hindered.
Right now the GH Series only lacks in-body stabilisation and higher ISO. The higher ISO is partially dealt with by faster lenses, that with the new metabones adaptor go all the way up to f.0.8. That's 2/3rd of a stop more light that an f2.8 lens. While I am sure the next in the GH series may consider in-body stabilization, new pistol gimbals have mostly dealth with that too.
One can add these, considering the Enormous Price difference betwern Panasonic and its Sony competitors.

About the Varicam, well it records in 3 different formats, simultaneously, and has some very interesting in-camera grading options apart from a host of other great features.
The good thing about Panasonic from GH2 onwards, is that they seriously listen to user feedback. Only if they would hurry up with the V-log now.

Panasonic disrupted everyone last year and this year they got disrupted. I don't think they deserve the criticism yet.
I do think you have a great point that firmware is the way forward as hardware is really solid now.

To be fair, most of the cameras sitting at the edge of convergence between stills and video have a limit on the clip length.  For most it is under 30 minutes.  The number that go past that can be counted on one hand. Of course for a camera that is being marketed for video at this price level, even the dinosaurs at Canon realized they had to do better.

The one thing the XC10 has got is record until the card is full.

Having said that Sony could easily take this cameras sales by taking the RX10 and:
    1. Enable 4K recording, just like the AX100
    2. Remove the clip length limit
    3. Sony could even give the price a healthy bump from $999 and most would still be happy.
As it is, many will head to one of Panasonics u4/3rds offerings, methinks.

Really keen to see this. I got a cheap second-hand NEX6, fantastic for stills, but as many have pointed out (Johnnie Behiri, Brandon Li), the video is awful, almost un-useable, worst moire and aliasing I've seen. A real disappointment after the 5N (which was reasonable on the moire front IMO). Looks like I might be trading the 6 in for a 6000 tho....
