Yes indeed. Quite nicely in fact. I shot most of this in 1080/60p on the original a7s. Mix between crop and full frame mode

'I wish I could just stop using the forum but I know I'll get drawn back in' ~ you 9 months ago. I guess you're reborn?
Do you feel differently about the 'I think 70% of the users here are fucking stupid'? Or is that the reason you're plugging this site aimed at filmmaking begginers (and you want to be kept on as a paid writer and need to gather some readers)?
You did say 'I'm not going to change my tune'. But hey, time changes people and I guess everyone deserves a 2nd chance.
OT: Yeah, there are many different set-ups one could opt for that are better than a T5i with H4n. The one you suggested could work for someone. Depends on what they need.

Now I do like Canon colour, but it's not worth 3 times the price for a C300 MKii over this.
Sony pricing is hammering Canon at the moment... At this rate we will end up 100% Sony within the year from 100% Canon a year before.
    Come on Canon, catch up!

Keep in mind this is one single persons experience on the internet. And for the record, its published on a website that has a pretty proven track record of posting large amounts of BS at least once a week.
Give the camera a rental. Get it in your hands and see how it actually performs.

    All three of them?
The guy is obviously successful and very talented as a photographer (if a little pretentious) and I don't begrudge him his opinion, but I don't think he understands a lot about digital. He tells us not to complain about RAW compression with no adequate explanation, he claims he underexposes all his shots by up to one and a half stops (On digital? Why?), and he offers no insight into the sensor performance besides citing DXO. Also...a landscape photographer who hates using tripods? Weird. His statements about Nikon's PCE lenses being subpar makes no sense at all, considering they're among the best-performing lenses in the system. Yet he's impressed with the Sony Zeiss 24-70? Weird, weird, weird. The biggest problem is that besides not liking SLRs, I have no baseline for how this guy feels about other products and why, which makes it hard to contextualize his opinion.
I realize I'm reviewing a review, so I'll just leave it at that.

I just took a 6D with the 40mm pancake on a two week trip to europe and it didn't feel heavy at all. If I'm doing serious stills I feel like I want full frame.

Just watched the trailer. What about the look is it that you are liking? If I had to guess it has a lot more to do with the lighting than the grading. Everything looks pretty natural, lots of practical lights and windows.

I have both cameras, A7s with ShoGun and now A7r2. Obviously 1080p on A7s is not as detailed as 4k on A7r2. the A7r2 is a much more practical package the a7s with ShoGun. If you are mainly in one location, the external recorder works, but moving around and taking shorter clips, its a hassle. And with FE lenses, you get better stabilisation then with Canon lenses mounted on A7r2. I use the 24-70 if I want to be compact, but my new favourite is the FE 28-135. You will then have a video range from 28 to 200mm by using FF and S35.  And found out it also take very good still images !   Even for video I would pick A7r2 today over A7s (only better for high ISO), however I guess A7s2 will be even better for video (maybe higher frame rates). But if you want to shoot stills as well - no doubt a7r2 !!!
you can look at 4k video here : https://youtu.be/PbyDqby-oqY

I had to send mine back to the Sony shop as couldn't get the slow-mo in focus half the time due to a bug.
    Apart from that was great
Review is written but didn't shoot as much nice footage as I'd liked to have, which has made the edit a difficult chore in the midst of a lot of other interesting stuff to be doing, hence the delay
Wolf33d maybe you could crack the whip over my back a bit more, I am your unpaid slave after all.

I didn't trust the small body, wanted to get it over the RX10 in the beginning, as well, but held back. Just get the 10 instead if you're willing to pay the extra, same incredible image and no issues.

Just submitted a request for a return at B&H on this guy. I knew it was going to overheat after continuous use but WOW, not like this.
I know its summer, but literally within seconds of being outside an 30 seconds of a single take in 4K, it overheats and shuts off. Same story in 1080p 120FPS. Even in 1080p 24p I've got the overheating indicator on the screen, this is just after minutes of use. Even indoors in close proximity to photoflood tungsten lights it gave me an overheat warning, and shut off in 4K mode.
Battery life is also ridiculous. I had 3 batteries and still found myself wondering if I would make it through an evening of shooting.
This is incredible disappointing since the image is really incredible in the right conditions.

I don't feel I'm getting defensive - I just think this forum is quick to jump to the most ridiculous conclusions about products, and completely rule out products based on one, single, unscientific 'test' done by someone who is likely a newbie.
That RED Dragon footage I saw that was insanely noisy, had blown-out highlights, crushed dynamic range, terrible skin tones etc. Instead of saying 'wow, how terrible is the RED Dragon, I'm never going to use it, it's a weak camera with terrible colours, and dynamic range and awful low-light ability' - I watched footage from others and did my own tests and came to the conclusion that you can get really beautiful looking images out of the RED Dragon, and that awful footage I saw was simply user error.
I've seen 5D stills that are awful. I could have said 'man the 5D is just a terrible camera to use for portraits, obviously.' Of course, we all know that to be untrue - the 5D is a great stills camera. I'm not going to judge it based on a small number of people who aren't photographers, or don't know how to use it or expose their photos.
No camera is perfect, and learning more about how they perform in certain situations is always good, and allows you to find strategies to compensate - but let's get some perspective here. And lets do our own tests before jumping to random conclusions. As I've said many times - people here talk at length about how 'awful' the colours from the A7s is. I'm yet to have the same issues. I do have some issues sometimes when skin is under-exposed, but overall I don't get anything like the issues that many seem to have here. By doing my own tests, I've figured out what I can get out of the camera, and how to compensate for other things in order to get great images.
I didn't look at posts from people who were only using the camera for the first time and couldn't expose their images properly to base my decision on purchasing it.

Thats what I would call a crappy, poorly exposed, poorly processed image with a giant crop on the darkest part of the frame. Its like you want the camera to be bad!

This image had about 50 dead pixels in it.  from the a7rmk1.  I could have left them in - the resolution is so high that the dead pixels are almost invisible and people are looking at the image rather than searching for the dead pixels, but i felt the 2mins effort processing and removing them was worth it.  I'm pretty sure Sony would have just stuck the same sensor into the mk2 if there wasnt an advantage from the new sensor they've spent millions developing.
I suggest people look on flickr for samples of landscapes from the a7rm2 before taking unskilled people's opinions seriously.  Plenty of talented photographers showing what this camera does with lenses on, rather than with lens caps on!

Compression be damned - I've taken incredible landscape photos on both the original A7r and the A6000. I've got a 20X30 (which happens to be a long exposure) hanging in my office that I took on the original A7r, and its sharp as a tack. I raised the shadows roughly 2 stops in post as well.
I've seen plenty of long exposures with a body cap on, but not a single legitimately good photograph that shows a real issue.
Here are some long exposures by Philip Bloom and they look fantastic given the ISO - https://www.flickr.com/photos/philipbloom/sets/72157654505454403

Heres a quick clip uploaded in 4K! Shot in slog2, graded with film convert. Around 70mm F/5.6 or so. I think I'll typically stay away from SLOG as it generates so much noise on this tiny sensor. I was using hot fluorescents on either side of the camera, and the camera did give me an overheat warning while shooting, but never shot off. I was sweating!
Added a gradual crop throughout the length of the video.

Just received the RX100IV today and I'm dang excited to create some things with it. I had the mark 1 and despite its limitations, had lots of fun shooting with it.
I created a 15 second instagram video at work today just as a means to try out the 4K mode. I was in a hot warehouse in Texas right next to an open door. After 1 take, it began to display the overheat symbol. After two takes, it told me to let the camera cool and shut off. Switching to 1080p mode and I was just fine.
This is by no means an A Camera, but I do think it is an absolutely incredible creative tool. Its so versatile! The 4K is sharp and clean, and the image grades well. This particular short was shot in  Picture Profile 4 and graded with film convert to add a lot of punch. I'll continue to share my thoughts and include more video after I've had more of a chance to shoot with it.
