Canon releases a new camera line called MEH. Canon's chief architech Mishiku Opportuntzie speaks about the product development of their MEH line of cameras. "Canon is strong on two paths the first is Imposible and the second is MEH. We listen to our customers needs and offer to them the choises of MEH1 and MEH2.

Surely if he got this "AMAZING" and very expensive Nikon camera, he must have lots and lots of very nice Nikon lenses? (well.... he should, but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't?)

Thus logically a good camera to get is the Nikon D5200, it will be a huge leap up in quality (can match stills from full frame from only a few years ago, while matching 5DmkIII for video) while still being very cheap.
Or more likely, the D7100 as I bet his lenses don't have an AF motor built into many of them.
Another option is go mirrorless, and he can keep on using his lenses with that. Such as the Sony A7, which can be found for under US$1k on special.
If you want to go down the path of a fixed lens camera (rather than an intechangeable lens one, which I reckon is a way better idea), this article lays out good reasons to go for the RX10:

I'm curious as to what camera he got back in 2003, I would guess a Nikon D100? (which isn't so terribly terrible is it? I started out on D50, which is much newer but only marginally better if that)

How beneficial is the Shogun for the GH4?

If I am planning to buy the Ninja Blade right now, and I have no 4K camera, but I know I will be buying a GH4 in six months from now, does it still make sense to get a Shogun instead of a Ninja Blade??

Thanks Andrew for you highly valuable contribution DPRieview on GH4 video part.
I understand you have lots of things to do at the moment, but is there a chance you give us your review of the FZ1000 as you promised on Sept. 15th ?
<< The Panasonic FZ1000 (see my first impressions here) is an absolutely fantastic camera for video. I’ll bring you my full review and footage later today.>>
    Thanks in advance

That is an exceedingly thorough rundown of the video capabilities of the GH4.
Glad to see DPReview putting more emphasis on video.

I will  be making extensive posts on lenses.... new... old, vintage... cheap and expensive and what their main good points are and how to get the best out of them.
And also some useful articles on general lens use that will help improve your shooting and make things more dare I say more 'cinematic' and less 'video' which seems to be what alot are asking for.
so say tuned folks and watch this space......

If Sony wasn't so afraid that a possible A7000 would mess up with their A7's sales and market, we could have expected a a higher end one with mic and headphone inputs and that would had been great.
I'm also curious about the GX7 vs A6000 tests in terms of IQ, overall operation but also AF in video. How does it compare to the GM1 in terms of video quality? That should give us about where the GX7 stands against the A6000.

Shame about the audio. If it had the jacks I would buy one.
I'm not really that happy with my A7.
    Great article again. Thanks.

I brought the sample clip into FCP X to inspect on the histogram, and as suspected, it records into the "super-whites", just like many of Sony's cameras.  So by lowering the highlights a bit, you actually recover some more detail and increase the perceived dynamic range.
I also noticed some of the artifacts of poor compression around the shadow areas of flesh tones, which was one of the big drawbacks of the NEX-5n and made it almost impossible to color grade effectively (especially at high ISO).  The RX cameras don't seem to have this problem.
    I'm curious about:
    - Clean HDMI - I doubt it'll be 10-bit, but maybe at least 4:2:2
    - pixel binning: I've noticed that the Rx10 and Rx100 are sharper than the D5200 and 5dmkIII because the RX cameras use full-sensor readout.  Would be great if Sony somehow implemented a similar downscaling method in the A6000.
    - overheating: still an issue?
    - rolling shutter - was awful on the NEX5n; maybe they've taken strides toward improving it.
    - Is video autofocus improved, or just photo?
    - really a pity they didn't go for 35mbps at 60p. Just saying.
