  1. Why do you need a remote control for product photos? Seems like the Nikon D5200 is the obvious choice as you've got those Sigma lenses in a Nikon F mount already. D5200 has the latest 24 megapixel APS-C sensor in it, making it a rather terrific stills camera to start out on. A quite good video camera too for its price (which is almost nothing these days on eBay!): http://www.eoshd.com/2013/02/nikon-d5200-vs-canon-5d-mark-iii/ http://www.eoshd.com/2013/02/nikon-d5200-review/ I'm still using mine, as recently as yesterday on Sunday and Saturday too, covering a motorsport event. Together with my G6 and BMPCC.
  2. I wonder where these online courses are? Are you sending it via Western Union?
  3. Another common trick, and one I used as recently as on today's job, is use a fanny pack and stick your monopod in it.
  4. Hmm... it is the same resolution, and even smaller than the Atoms Ninja 2, and I don't want to go back to that! I use a Samurai Blade now (with my F3), and I think that is the absolute minimum quality I want in a monitor these days.
  5. Doesn't its resolution of 800 x 480 seem very low?? http://ikancorp.com/productdetail.php?id=1738#tab
  6. Darn!!! Both of them? Surely you must have a third available for sale? Maybe even a fourth you could offer to sell as well?
  7. You are getting the BMCC and BMMCC mixed up together.
  8. From @Ed_David's video post to the Ebrahim Saadawi epic saga thread I stumbled across Ed's YT account, and saw you posted this 360 degree test, wondering which camera is it (a Gear 360 maybe? I see you're holding a cellphone in your other hand) and what project you're doing the test for? I've been getting into 360 degree video myself. Here are a couple of quick ones I uploaded myself today (last one is the first one I uploaded, thinking I wouldn't get time to do it again plus I captured that rarest of beast.... my brother was in the shot! ha. But then I re-did it a bit later on with it a bit better planned out, and each got uploaded to two separate Facebook pages for the expo this weekend): Both shot with a Samsung Gear 360, stitched together with a Samsung S7, then uploaded painfully over a crowded 4G connection at the car expo I was working at today doing their filming for.
  9. I can't do $500, as I only have $499. Could you do that instead? Just first send me $1, and then after that I'll be able to then send you back $500.
  10. LOL LOL LOL LOL, I am loving reading these outrageously ridiculous conspiracy theories some folks are making up! Keep them coming :D
  11. http://nofilmschool.com/u/ebrahimsaadawi Did a reverse google image search of it, nothing showed up unfortunately. I had always assumed Senior was so old he might be semi retired, and thus had plenty of spare time, and Junior was at school and thus also had a fair amount of time on his hands to post to forums. People have pulled off selling RED cameras with much smaller forum profile than they had, so I think if the intent had been to pull off a grand scam to bank big on, I'm sure it could've been done instead and long ago. So it doesn't make any sense to put in all that effort over years and years purely just to make a couple of thousand.
  12. My respect and admiration for Saadawi Senior has only gone up from his reply he just made. Is understandable if you feel like you need to take a break for a little while, but please do come back! Biggest lesson here: don't use weak passwords! And keep them different. And change them. Don't leave yourself logged in unnecessarily.
  13. Agreed with the calls to wait before rushing to grab the pitchforks. These for instance are three plausible theories laid out by Mattias. Or it might even be something else we haven't thought of yet.
  14. Had it for sale on Reduser as well: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?134422-SLR-Magic-Rangefinder-very-interesting&p=1631174&viewfull=1#post1631174 And again here: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?141541-Slr-Magic-Rangefinder-Cine&p=1631171&viewfull=1#post1631171 Timotheus, would be good idea if a warning thread got posted on Reduser as well by you. You can add to that, this link as well which is his blog (though hasn't been updated in ages): http://ebrahimsaadawi.blogspot.com And his FB: https://www.facebook.com/EbrahimSaadawi
  15. It shocked me too. Astonished to read this thread, as is an account which has been such a valuable contributor to this forum for such a long time that previously I'd have had no hesitation whatsoever to ever make a transaction with such a person if I'd seen something here I wanted (not that I have ever made a purchase via this forum, but I have a few times on a few other forums. Including when I purchased my first ever camera..... a hacked Panasonic GH1! :D ). Timotheus, I recommend you making a warning post like this to dvxuser as well. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?347115-SLR-Magic-Rangefiner-Low-Price!
  16. I wouldn't term that a "huge" price, as the BMCC and BMPCC already in my eyes cry out for adding a decent monitor to them!
  17. We've got the KineMax 6K already to get a feel for the Terra 6K, and they're got a track record (KineMini etc). If I was in your shoes I'd feel confident about waiting for the Terra 5K to see what comes along and happens. No harm in waiting!
  18. RED's "upgrade" path is just pure marketing spin, don't buy into it. The costs are so high you could buy an entire new camera (such as a FS7 or Terra 5K) and end up having TWO cameras! You're previous one and a new one. If you have a $10k and looking to buy a RED, look instead into a Kinefinity Terra 5K when it comes out, and have plenty of cash left over afterwards to spoil yourself with an extra lens or two.
  19. I dunno.... I think it is a case of six of one, half a dozen of the other! I went with the Samurai Blade for my F3 and I keep on kinda wishing I had got the BMD VA instead..... but deep down in my heart I feel sure if I'd got the BMD VA instead I'd be wishing I'd got the Samurai Blade instead! ha! "Grass is always greener on the other side."
  20. Great find!! If only I had the cash I'd leap on this as a client/director's monitor on set, to pair it with cheapie HDMI wireless. Though they're very scarce on the ground! But this here might be an option: ========================= https://www.amazon.com/YILETEC-13-3-OPEN-FRAME-YL-1303T/dp/B00SXI3VWU/ I see this one is listed as sold "by Lilliput", which is of course well known brand of monitors. Wonder what is the relationship of Lilliput and YILETEC, a subsidiary brand perhaps? There even is a 15.6" monitor at the same identical low low price as the 13.3" model: https://www.amazon.com/YILETEC-15-6-YL-156MPCT-CAPACITIVE-MULTI-TOUCH/dp/B01CF1BPTG/
  21. Skip the Ninja 2 completely, as its screen is so outright sh*t. The little tiny extra cost for a Samurai/Ninja Blade or BMD VA is totally worth it.
  22. If using a focal reducer just use the next step up in sensor size coverage at a minimum Thus if using a focal reducer use FX lenses on APS-C sensor Or DX lenses on MFT sensors if using a focal reducer But yes, if just using a straight adapter then a DX lens will be fine on an A6300
  23. BMCC EF is a no no due to the hefty crop. Skip the BMCC MFT in favor of the BMMCC which is a lighter form factor and gives you 60fps slow motion
  24. As you rarely shoot raw, you thus are not taking advantage of the 2.5K that the BMCC can do anyway. As in ProRes the BMCC can do at max 1080, so by switching to a BMMCC you'd gain a more friendly small sized *AND* gain 1080 60fps, a double win!
  25. Don't get the A7.... only go for one of A7s mk1 / A7r mk2 / A7s mk2
