  1. Ditto! I'd have got a NX500 instead of a Z Cam E1 in a heartbeat at that price.
  2. Oh very sorry, only very hastily read @ntblowz post! So when he said "14mm Panasonic pancake" I thought he meant the specific adapter for that. Anyway, even with the one he said, there is still no MFT to E mount adapter at all?! As you're using a screw on wide angle, direct onto the front of the lens. And the one I use is the Panasonic DMW-GWC1. But yup, the Sony VCL-ECU1 could achieve the same result in the end.
  3. I kinda like that this forum just mostly has a "main forum", as I've seen too many other forums decline if they try to split off into too many minor subforums to try and cater to every possible niche. Exactly. Sub forums only make sense once you get to a very high traffic volume. (such as say dvxuser had, but then they made waaaaaay too many sub forums, which is now killing it. So even if a website does have the traffic volume to support sub forums, the extra sub forums should still be added in at a sensible pace which matches the rate of the growth of the overall forum size. )
  4. The render shows also a mic input, if so this would be the PERFECT camera for vlogging for me! I've been wanting an ultra compact camera, with a 1" sensor and flip up screen which also most importantly.... has a mic input!!
  5. Remember that at around 16mm (or 14ish?) you can even use the Tokina lens on a FF camera! Thus is certain to cover at the same focal length a GH5 with a focal reducer. That is exactly what I use on my BMPCC for vlogging! You're not stacking any adapters at all.
  6. I am assuming Kinefinity just doesn't care about IP laws for the E mount: http://www.kinefinity.com/shop/k2e/?lang=en
  7. It happens more often than you think. People shooting on say a GH4 on a gimbal with a wireless follow focus.
  8. Remember the Phantom 4 Pro has a 1" sensor, which is much bigger than any Phantom has ever had before.
  9. You'll need more than one finger. You'll need three fingers! So yup, one hand is plenty with fingers to spare. I can still remember the daunting task I had of choosing my first ever DSLR (the Nikon D50) and choosing my first ever camera to film with (Panasonic GH1).
  10. Nope, it didn't go past me! I knew about it even before it was officially announced. But it is just very uninteresting and unappealing. Thus I didn't talk about it. I don't think I want to add up the money I spent last year on sound gear so I can calculate the ratio..... as the total would be scary! But I can safely say the ratio would be high indeed! Because on the camera side of the equation: I purchased the Z Cam E1, think I might have got a couple of lenses or so, oh and the Samsung Gear 360VR camera. Plus a few bits and bobs like a variable ND filter and a VCT plate/rails. However that is pretty much all I did for the year when it comes to camera gear! But sound gear? Oh boy, a lot.... I don't *only* post to EOSHD ;-) Yeah, but there is no shortage of options for small portable handheld recorders like that. (I for instance own a Zoom H1 original and the Tascam DR22WL) And this new model is no great leap forward over the original H1
  11. Punch the right search terms into Vimeo and you can see tonnes of footage from people: https://vimeo.com/search?q=tokina+panasonic It is wiiiiiiiiide! I'm a cheap bastard, and use the RJ Lens Turbo
  12. Everything comes to those with the patience to wait! Now, how long do we need to wait for a NX2? ;-)
  13. Good point I think. Do all those companies which make E mount products do it with Sony's blessing? F Mount patent has expired however. Thus others can make for it as well. (remember how the BMCC EF came out right after the EF mount expired....) Nah, won't happen. Nikon photographers would be pissed as hell if they do not conform to their industry standard. They will if it means Nikon has an overall stronger system that enables them to be #1 in mirrorless (and thus then #1 in the entire camera world in general in the future....). It is balance Nikon will need to play between more revenue for them from having all of a smaller system or part of a much larger system.
  14. I've used a X-Rite ColorChecker Passport on a lot of shoots over the year, and just late last year I purchased my own one! You need to use it sensibly, thinking about where you place it in the scene to measure from, and perhaps even use it in even shot if there is any notable change in lighting at all from shot to shot.
  15. Not really, good wireless is expensive! Be that wireless audio, or wireless video, or wireless focus pulling, or wireless whatever!
  16. Yeah if you find yourself doing multiple new threads each week, then maybe pause and consider if any of those can be consolidated into a few less threads. Then again if you're making less than one new thread per week, then what the hell, just make that new thread! :-P
  17. On the downside if you're trying to market yourself as an Arri Alexa owner with the "current" sensor (which is true, the original will create an identical image to even the latest as of right now in 2018) then you'll have a tough sell once the new one arrives (but that is also exactly why the current ones will go down in price! Maybe... they might not if the new one is a flop)
  18. The Tokina 11-20 is pretty sweet. I have the older 11-16mm This can last you many years across many systems. And who the hell needs AF for UWA anyway? Your DoF is measured in feet after all!
  19. Whenever Arri finally finally announces their new sensor then that will shave off a couple more grand from the secondhand price of the Classic in hurry.
  20. D500S is a good point, like the D300S was nothing really for photography over the original D300, but the D300S did add video. Maybe D500S will have focus peaking, no crop 4K, and dare we hope for it..... 10bit?! ;-) One can dream! Hope so. Always been impressed and tempted by the D750.
  21. Well well, that is news to me. Little surprised DJI is going after that extreme bottom end of the market.
  22. We did exactly some of that post zooming in a little short I did recently.
  23. Don't worry, doesn't seem like they're doing anything too groundbreaking here. But we'll know more at NAMM
  24. You're changing the angle depending on the distance of the subject?! If I was doing it with GoPros btw, then I'd get this from Timecode systems: https://www.timecodesystems.com/syncbac-pro/hero4/ But I feel the Yi 4K or Z Cam E1 is the way to go for DIY VR. Or if BMD does a price drop like with the BMPCC, then the Micro in a heartbeat.
