I wasn't the hugest fan of the early Leica stuff. Basically they were Lumix-vibe lenses with sort of a faint Leica hint. But boy, the more recent Leica primes, they look the part, they perform the part. Though... they cost the part. Lol. The 15mm f/1.7 is actually really affordable and super practical, that's something I really like, but the 42.5mm f/1.2 and 12mm f/1.4, argh, bro! I just don't know. Also love the Olympus PRO stuff, but... they are a little bit more on the clinical side, like a Scarlett Johansson cyborg bot, sexy is hell, but if you want some humanization, raw emotion, passion and character... dang, Leica's always been good for that decade after decade!

You come in here, start a rant, throwing arguments, then in fact you start to discredit people that dont do video the way you seem to think is the only way to do it and finally you finish by putting us on the DPR level where in fact you are the one rants about stuff no one said nor argued about. I dont see any sense in arguing with you about this, but I really want to express that this thingy here makes me quite sad and really dismantles this thread which is such an invaluable source of information for those particular cameras.

You're making stuff up and putting words in our mouths. Understandable that you would run. 
The G85 is basically a stripped down GH4 with some improvements like better color science (easier to grade), lower noise levels and IBIS to name a few. Tell me exactly how that means we're telling him to shoot full auto?

Sorry, but please point me (/us) to the quotes where the guy said he wants to learn video the way YOU understand video? Again, please quote where we (who?) said we want him to go full auto? And you know that you can use the GH4 in full auto, the same way you can do it with any other Panasonic from the GXXX lines?
IF you read his request again (which I did after being astonished over your "me vs. the world" rant), he didnt say anywhere explicitly that he wants to know / use vector scopes and whichever handy tools exist (which in fact he should, if he wants to achieve his goal, to be clear!). However what he stated is that he liked stabilization - in fact that is why he is asking his question within the GX80 thread. 

I wont start picking here, everybody as he or she likes. However I doubt that you need all those features of the GH4 to "learn video". How do you define to "learn video" anyway? Did I not "learn video" because I did not have a GH4 and used all of its functionality but merely a GM1 and a GX80? Does this make my work less good?
On the one hand you are saying basically that @jonpais is not right with his G85 recommendation because no one needs IBIS to "learn video" - yet on the other hand you practically tell him what he MUST have (vector scope, yadda yadda) to learn the craft. Seems to me like you are putting YOUR vision of how to learn video on him, the very same thing you didnt like in jonpais' statement. In the very same moment you encourage him to buy the GH4, which again is just your opinion - why is it any better than our opinions? Sounds weird to me, no offense.
It always depends on what you need. @vladsaysF just need to think about what kind of work he wants to do and then pick the right camera, end of story.

I agree with @fuzzynormal going down the prime route. I did it myself, too (more by accident, because I just lusted the Voigtländer). When I later tried some zooms, they gave me more freedom in choice, but I found out that I either use them at the shortest or at the longest focal length and that it distracted me a lot. So if I were you, I would try to find out which focal length I might be using most of the time and go for that. I started with 25mm and now went down to 17mm (4k crop) which suits me most. Occasionally I would love to have something even wider, but thats not that often.
So, it all depends on what you need. The maybe ideal focal length compromise would be 20mm - the Panasonic 20 1.7 is just about perfect, if not for the slowish AF. If you want more tele, choose one of the 25mm lenses either from Panasonic (Summilux 25 1.4) or the Olympus (25 1.8) - both are fine lenses. If you want to go wider, go for the Olympus 17 1.8 or the Panasonic Summilux 15 1.7.
In your case since size doesnt seem to matter that much, I would clearly advise you choosing the G85 based on mic-in, weather sealing and the flip out screen.

In December 2016, I wanted a stills camera. After some thought, I was swayed by the A6500 because of the video features. (typical!). 
I've been testing this camera mostly on the excellent Zhiyun Crane (on a price / value ratio I'd say it's the best gimbal you can buy). 
On my most recent shoot, I put it in the deep end. I used Slog2, the 18-105mm kit lens and exclusively used autofocus for the entire shoot. Felt weird. (stills attached)
Overall, this has the potential to be a very special camera... but it's not...quite...there...yet. 
Here's my mini mini mini review: 
PROS
The 4k image is the best 8 bit 4k I've used. Certainly the best in Sony's lineup. There's a very special sauce going on here - it's super gradeable, detailed and the A6500 colour is much improved.  Colour is improved? The image and skin tones are very, very pleasing - both using a standard everyday look and a stylised look (which I tend to go for). Sony look? Not here.  Autofocus is very responsive. Absolutely essential on the Zhiyun Crane, makes it so much easier to focus on the shot as the image is 99% always in focus, even at shallow DOF.  Compact power. Very nice to hold in the hand without a rig. Super light.  120fps is surprisingly good. Sharpened up and exposed nicely, it's a stellar 120fps.  CONS
Rolling shutter is a problem. It's easily avoidable however it can be annoying and ruin a shot. There's very little in the 120fps mode.  Battery life is poor. This is a constant issue with Sony mirrorless. Even if they make the bodies a bit bigger for a higher capacity battery, needs sorting! The LCD dims very low. Maybe this is to manage heat or whatever. But the LCD does dim quite significantly.  LCD gets scratched easily. These cameras need a cover to come with the camera, or flip the other way round. Got 3 scratches on my LCD from transit.  Some of the buttons are flimsy and thin. Sony need to extrude the buttons more. The wheel on the back i especially fiddly to use.  CONCLUSION
The 4k image in XAVC-S is absolutely fantastic - I've not been wowed by image quality in a while. But it do get giddy when editing it. What's going on there? 
The shortcomings do dilute the experience a little - and Sony should sort them out for the A6700. With other expected updates, this would be a classic camera. 
There should be more love for this camera, as it sits under the hype shadow of the GH5. (I expect the GH5 to be awesome, but haven't used it). 
Overall - it's a very useful tool in the bag with some stunning features, great for stills too.

I am really excited about end of 2017 when we might get some successor for the GX80/G85 with some of the features of the GH5 trickling down. GX80 with mic in, weather sealing and 4k60p would be all I might ever need. Until the next camera emerges 

So as some already know, I recently purchased a 5D3 primarily to shoot Magic Lantern Raw. Well this week I started my first short film with it. It was definitely a learning experience but I really don't know of any camera where I would have achieved such pleasing images. I also purchased the Canon 24-70mm f/4 lens and I am consistently blown away by what a great lens it is and the OIS is so damn good, even at 70mm, that the majority of my short, thus far, has been shot handheld.
With the recent 4K Raw developments, I figured I would post some pros and cons in case somebody else is looking to pick one up.
Well the first pro is that shooting Raw could not be simpler with it. Set up Raw histogram with the overexposure hint and when it shows your color channels are starting to clip or the word "over" appears on the histogram, then just dial back your exposure a touch.
Another pro is that there are a bunch of people on this forum still shooting with the 5D3 and everybody is helpful. If you have a problem about any aspect of the process or workflow, there are plenty of other ML shooters around here that go out of their way to answer even the stupidest of my questions... not nearly as daunting as the ML forum.
Now a couple cons... you need a bunch of cards... or a computer and hard drive to offload your footage... 12 minutes on a 64GB cards gets filled quickly. Even with 3 cards, and trying to be conservative with my shots and shot ratios, I still ran out of space 3/4 of the way through my second day of shooting.
Converting the footage is a bit tedious. The RawMagic route of converting the MLV files to CDNG is fairly fast but then you still have to process the footage through Resolve or After Effects before really seeing what you have. I really like the MLRawViewer program, but although you get to preview your footage, the conversion is slow and after I updated my Mac to Sierra, the version I have does not work with it, but I believe there is a newer version,  so hopefully it will work then.
I guess that's about it for now, so I'll leave you with a couple graded screen grabs, from a couple shots I briefly messed around with yesterday...

Over the course of this on line conversation I considered the GX85, mulled it over, bought one, tested it, enjoyed the results, bought another one, began to shoot 6 short documentaries with 'em, learned to resent my producer along the way, clashed creatively like I've never done before, shot a ton of misc corporate stuff, did some time-lapse that one time, finished the documentaries, sold the first one to a woman so she could take pictures of her newborn grand-daughter, sold the second one on ebay, and generally enjoyed using the camera during it all.
Didn't fall in love with the GX85, but liked it plenty.  Still seems like the best value for money on the market if you like smaller-sized cameras.  I'll continue to recommend it.

I'm tempted to register there just to reply to him that the only way we'll definitively know if Canon are ripping us off is if we have to pay by Western Union and Canon tell us their mother is posting the 5DMKIVs back.

Jase, the taking lense was a Nikon 24 f:2 . It vignetts but not so much when you are recording 4K. Was my first time using it with the Pan GX80 and IBIS was ON. Now I´ve learnt not to do so, is like it affects the alignement, what happends with IBIS and anamorphics?¿

Yeah, I sold mine and kind of regret it.

I use standard on an old gm1 for all my product videos on Youtube. Looks nice imo. Would probably look just as good for landscapes, etc.

Interesting specs, but this is the camera for the rich at 5300 Euros. The A9 II will come out in just 9 months, tumbling the price of this one. I'll just stick with my GX80... good enough for stills and video and un-matched value! Period.

Well, I used the extra E-stabilizer in this video here entirely and I did not notice any disadvantage except the crop:
 

Firmware 1.1 just announced, releases April 24th. Includes:
-10-bit 4:2:2 in 1080p
-4:3 anamorphic mode (3398x2496), also in 10-bit 4:2:2
-exposure adjustment problem in VFR mode (I'm guessing this is the darker screen when using shutter angle)
-V-Log high-ISO ghosting problems (doesn't this happen in normal profiles too? Hope this addresses that too)

Yes - everybody looks like the living dead. Easily corrected in-camera but watch out for the fifteen pages of people moaning about the red channel whilst ignoring that little slider thingy in their editing suite.
