Hi @christrad I read a post on BMD's forum yesterday..

    POST...

"My camera update went til 70%, once there all the usb devices disconnected and windows showed a "can't recognize the usb device" it was stuck and it wouldn't show any activity. Now, the camera doesn't power on and the front recording led is blinkg in white. ¿Is there any way to reset the camera? or it is a brick now

EDIT: I sent a mail to BM support and they answered right away with the solution: copy of the response, in case anyone needs it:

Confirm that the camera is still connected via USB, switch the power to OFF then back ON.
Immediately after powering ON, hold down the Focus Button (the one with the crosshairs) for about 10 seconds.
This should put the camera into recovery mode and allow it to show up in the software and allow you to run the update again."

    POST END

Hope this helps, otherwise contact BMD yourself :)

Matthere thank you so much, the focus button trick worked very well for me! Now my dear pocket 4k is fully working with the newfirmware! Love this forum, love my pocket 4k. Big thanks again matthere!

Thank you so much for your quick answer! I'm not at home right now but soon I'm back, i'll try the focus Button trick and let you know...

  3. Hi, I'm an idiot!

I thought the update was quick and did it with a battery! I know...and I hate myself.

Of course, the update take a long time and the battery died during the process.

Now when turning the pocket 4k on, the screen remain black and the update utility doesn't recognize it anymore. The blue light on the left front is blincking but that's all.

So, I was thinking about maybe a reset of the camera but I can't find anything on the net about how to do it.

Any help? Even for a fool like me?

  4. I'm 100% with you Andrew! Shame on Blackmagic for not inviting you nore giving you a pre-production model for testing! (That being said, I surely will buy the BMP4k, just waiting for some reviews ; sadly not yours apparently...)

I don't understand why so little eoshd users shows their support after all you done for us all these years! (I will never thank you enough for starting the anamorphic DIY topics)

Let me be optimistic : maybe Blackmagic will read this topic and make it up to you...So you will do a nice and helpfull review and John Brawley will help you!

Trying to look at your picture, but the site 4shared has a lot of download buttons not for the raw file. More spam than file... Can you share it a different way?

It's a joke : a picture saying "oops april fools!". So don't waste your time like I did with mine, thanks to lucabutera...

I wanted to understand why is everyone so obsessed with 4:3.

Is it because there's more height pixels, or because of the aspect ratio itself?

One answer : 4:3 don't crop horizontal flares!

I quit GH4 for the colors, now i'm happy with my NX1 except the 16:9 crop my flares :(.

  7. Takumar Lenses do a great job on nx1 and are pretty cheap (except the 85mm). You can use the Super Takumar Serie if you want flares, and the SMC or super multi coated ones if you don't.

But Caleb is right The Konica 40mm is a must have!

And of course you might consider the famous Helios 44-2, but remenber you loose the swirly bokeh on S35, sad! But the rest of the character is worth it.

Thanks all fort the advises! I think I will go for the Kowa Prominar 8z / 16h. But question tot Christrad, if you film slowmo in NX1, it is HD quality at 1080. When you crop to 1:2.35, you will drop your quality seriously.... How bad is that?

Pretty bad when you have to upscale 1080p slowmo to 4K. That's why I don't crop when in slowmo like in this video and others

  9. The Konica-Hexanon 40mm work very well with S35 (aps-C) sensor! It's much sharper than Takumar lenses BUT there is a problem with coating and when you shoot with the sun in front the image fall appart imho.
