  1. I hypothesize it will either: punch an interdimensional hole in the space-time continuum and collapse our universe, or, be totally benign to the camera sensor. Difficult to say for certain.
  2. It's too bad right? In the past having expensive gear like a 1DX and macOS basically meant you were a filmmaker. Now that the tech is a commodity, a passionate 6 year old can have more YouTube views on a single upload than that filmmaker will ever have.
  3. Egads. This is a great video to show why EIS is terrible for movement. You've got motion blur galore (from excessive camera shake) and yet the software has aggressively locked off the frame. It looks completely unnatural and the human brain can pick it out without any knowledge of why it looks "wrong". You should read up on some technical papers on how OIS works. The TLDR implementation of most manufacturers is that it offers 1-2° of correction, which means you have to keep the lenses pointed in the same angle while capturing video. Even excessive handshake will cause the OIS to hunt and create that ping-pong effect you see from most people who complain about OIS not working. This shit ain't magic. At the end of the day it's using data from a gyro and some code to predict what should be happening. Plop a clueless human into the equation and you end up with...
  4. People who can't adapt are dinosaurs. Your skills should be platform agnostic. I still remember using iMovie on a Bondi Blue Mac. Anyone remember lusting over the XL-1s? <3 MiniDV and so many CCDs! Now I couldn't give a shit if I'm using FinalCut, have a rig with RAID SSD scratch discs, or use MS Paint to quickly build a matte for tracking. Fuck it, I'll cut a video on my phone.
  5. Can also be mounted as a filter on the front of a lens. Keep in mind if you use a fillament to create flares, bokeh will have lines.
  6. Not to be rude or detract from the conversation, but I never noticed the "character" or colors change when they went Sony. Shooting on Leica glass for Youtube is just as nonsensical imho. Compression kills whatever IQ advantage you may get.
  7. It's simply a matter of time before Canon, Sony, Panasonic, as we know them today, will cease to exist. Will take less than a decade, guaranteed. Market for cameras will become extremely niche and majority of consumers will have needs met by next gen smartphones with better optics and sensors. And that's just the tip of the iceberg as changes go. We're living in the twilight of captilism. Enjoy it while it lasts.
  8. Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera. Bonus points for them being Aussies too.
  9. Jimmy pls, the average viewer actually ONLY cares about DoF, dynamic range and how heavy the rig was.
  10. Haha, ok dude. You want everything and the kitchen sink for no money. Good luck with that! Edit: can we see your work? Are you delivering to theaters or perhaps IMAX screens?
  11. I don't get it. If you want good IQ and reliable AF, Canon has the 1DXII and C100. What's the problem with those cameras?

Really? Motion module is so fucking loud. I ended up dumping my copy on a docu shooter who literally begged me to take it back, I think near the end he was willing to pay me almost $500 to take back the plus+motion+target combo. Have you tried your slider on sticks? After a few months the timing belt fucks up and there's this were rattle at center when travelling. And the target head has so much play and backlash, it visibly wobbles at focal lengths greater than 35mm.
  13. Sorry to be shitty but that's not a lot of views. I did over 1.2 million this year with just 6 videos. (I'm not counting the views my channel accumulated over the last 12 months from videos that were released prior to 2016.) No ad monetization, made a little under 40k USD. Didn't spend a single cent on hosting costs. I have garbage SERP on Google. All my traffic comes internally. SEO-wise, all I did, besides make awesome content I know will convert, was to ad subtitles so my videos ranked faster. Anyway, long story short: YouTube is awesome, yes there are spammers, keep your head down, produce great videos AND (most importantly) target a segment you know spends money and is low competition. That said, sorry for your troubles this year. Getting bogus DMCA claims is awful.
  14. Got a link to share? I'm always curious to see Canon's C-line produce cinematic pictures.
  15. Only worth it if you need 4K60. Otherwise an insane waste of money, need new: cards CFAST, glass STM, batteries. Not to be a shithead, but we all know the gear doesn't do anything. Production value is all: sets, lighting, camera moves and gimmicks. Too bad Blackmagic can't fucking ship a solid product yet. I bet the UM4.6K is almost the perfect cam for you.
  16. Just purchased a few Aputure LS1S panels. I'm fairly happy with the price-quality ratio but have about a week to decide if I want to keep them. Are there any alternarives you would recommend using?
  17. You made a thread about the Inspire 2 drone. The X5S isn't specific to the Inspire 2. https://m.dji.com/product/zenmuse-x5s?site=brandsite&from=buy_now_bottom Looks like the camera will be available to purchase separately. Might me compatible with the original Osmo. So not just for drone shooting.

  19. Then why are you posting here? This isn't the blackmagicdesign website. You can even call them up: US: 1 408 954 0500 United Kingdom: 441 565 830 049 Japan: 81 3 5295 5661 Singapore: 65 6339 2171 China: 86 134 5022 0935
  20. 50-100 focus breathing is massive. I don't think the mark-up for the cine version is worth it. Just use an appropriate follow focus gear to get the 120' turn ratio. That said the tripod foot on the stills model isn't removable and therefore getting a gear around the zoom ring is almost impossible. And you can buy the DS version set (24, 35, 50, 85) four times for that price.
  21. 4k export is enabled for the free version of resolve. What's not included is 3d stuff, noise removal and lens distortion fix.
  22. Pros are working with this camera. Why would a pro without a blog or YouTube channel waste their time producing content, that will not earn them as much as they could working, post samples? And yet at the same time, very few pros are working with this camera. Why would you buy when you can rent or have local support. What the fuck do you do if this camera breaks during a show and you have to send it back to just a mere handful of global repair centers. This is a sensor in a box time cinema camera. What's there to look for at someone else's footage? In mixed and low light it'll preform as bad as a DSLR and anything well graded and lit will be lambasted for being achievable with any other camera.
