Shield3 got a reaction from Nikkor in First sony hack unlocks time limit and language selection
As one who shot 5d3 raw back in May 2013 with a camera that cost about as much as the a7r2, I figured what the hell.
I can confirm this works perfectly with the a7r Mark II.  I threw the grip on to see how long it'd run.  I got 1 hour 4 minutes before I ran out of disk (64GB card).
Keep in mind this isn't a "firmware" update or anything - it's simply a Playmemories app to install.  Simple and easy and takes literally 3 minutes.
    Link to the "hack" app.

Thanks to this I can let my a7r2 run for a while now and not worry about it for long shoots.  No overheating icon the entire time either.  See attached pic of a7r2 w/grip...

Yeah, but the ergonomics aren't really that relevant when you add a huge recorder to the back of the thing… The FS700 is the steal right now, you can get that whole rig for probably under 5k at this point.
I would say that the Sony FS5 probably can get much nicer color, due to the S-LOG update, etc. The colors out of the fs700 are seriously tough, they were improved a ton in the fs7.
Does this update enable 4k/120 burst? The FS700 can do this which is awesome.

Quoted and usable DR are two very different things, and you'd find real world they're very close in terms of usable DR. FS700 for me comes close to, ergonomically, one of the worst supposedly 'pro' cameras I've ever encountered. It does have a lot of great features though. Sensitivity will be similar between the two, but the FS5 will be better at higher ISOs.
Big distinction, I think, is that the FS700 is more or less sorta a 4k-geared camera, whereas the FS5 is sorta an HD geared camera. FS5 gives you 10-bit internally @ 50Mbps which you can't get out of an FS700. FS700's SDI output is also only 8-bit, so to get more than that you're forced to shoot raw.

With all due respect to YouTube bloggers, a field I do enjoy sometimes actually, it's not my circus, not my monkeys, I don't care if they buy a million 80Ds, it doesn't make it a successful product for those with a more cinematic, higher image quality benchmark in mind.

I must not have explained myself clearly; my fault.  The 70d has the flippy screen, great AF, will allow them to see themselves in the LCD.  Nothing new in that regards concerning the 80d was my point.  Same video with slightly better detail, but same exact functionality.  80d isn't any more groundbreaking to v-loggers than the 70d, which was my question why anyone would say suddenly "this is going to be big for v-loggers".  Plenty have been using the 70d in the exact same manner since the end of 2013.

This is a common misconception among stupid people and the facts are very different.
I have seen market research at meetings with Sony and Panasonic, also information on how the cameras are marketed.
    You have not.
Canon's market and marketing is not that different.
By the same token you can also argue an iPhone is for stills. Yet a lot of iPhone owners use those for casual video shooting.
The 80D is quite an expensive consumer camera - more prosumer and hobbyist, middle of the pyramid, than something a super-casual consumer would use.
It's in exactly the market where video usage peaks.
In fact I cannot believe you are still bothering to put across this kind of argument in 2016, when every DSLR press release mentions video (and a significant proportion of the text too, sometimes as much as 50-50), a GH4 sells like hot cakes and the manufacturers are spending vast amounts of R&D putting 4K into stills cameras.

Seriously though, good capabilities.  I'd stop that 1.2 down a touch though.  It's actually kind of amusing to see "night" shots a bit over exposed.  Technology these days is impressive.

Is there a hack yet for the NX1 that allows me to toggle between the EVF and the rear LCD after I've hit record?  This was my #1 dealbreaker for long outdoor shoots.

"A7r ii nothing but headaches".  Hasn't been for me.  I'm sure I am clearly in the minority here not hopping on the anti-Sony bandwagon, but having owned the a7r / a7s I find the colors of the a7r mark ii noticeably improved over the first series a7's.  Are they as pleasing as the 1dc or the 5d3 raw?  Of course not - just different.  I don't shoot Slog-2 often and leave the picture profiles completely off, and I make sure I manually set my WB first every time.  I'm loving this little camera, and in s35 mode + the Metabones speedbooster I'm getting great footage with it and my Canon glass.  I shot the 85 1.2 II handheld the other day and was amazed by how steady the shot was.
Shrug.  There is no perfect camera yet.  I think the UHD downscaled to 1080p from the a7r2 looks stunning, and I shoot people and landscapes mostly.

There is some for sure.  I wouldn't call it severe - this was the 85 1.2 II @ 2.8.  Closer to wide open it gets worse.
Just went back into Lightroom - I didn't even have the "remove chromatic aberration" box checked.  But IMO this lens is known to exhibit purple fringing badly.  It's not a defect that bothers me that much, so who cares.
I like lenses with character more than the sterile "sharp" image.  IQ and what is best is always subjective.

Exactly. I can sell my 5D3 because there is a finally a camera that completely replaces it. You can still get close to 2k for a used 5D3.

I'm curious to see the high ISO of the Nikon but I very much doubt either one of these cameras "slaughters" the other.
Unless it's video and then the 1D X II definitely slaughters the Nikon

I'm not sure I understand all the critics about this camera.

Is it, so far, the best photography camera for sport/event/nature photographer ?
    My answer is yes.
Is there somewhere something on this price range (6000 USD) who can do at the same time (Cropped) 4K 60 fps and (a bit less cropped) 120 fps Full HD (not even the C300 MK2 don't do 60fps in 4K) and the sony 7SII is far away if we consider all the camera aspect (bitrate, battery life, solidity, lens availability, color science, autofocus...)
    Not that I know of.

Yes, the footage will need to be converted if shooted in 4K, but according to the 2 statement below, I don't think it's so much an issue.
I also agree if the camera was doing 4 K all-I internally in 10 bit 4.2.2, have peaking and XLR input,... it will be the absolute winner, but come on, please, this is not so bad for now.

I completely see some photographer very happy to get sometime very nice 4 K footage during their photo work.
And again, Any video camera on this price range is not doing at all photography as this one does.
    Thanks Canon!

I think the crop should be calculated diagonally not just on the horizontal res.
To be honest I am 1.4321 from not giving a crap. Eno why don't you go and make a XXXXXXXXing film.
    Haha.
I hope he enjoys his 0.421x share of Nikon as much as his crop factor calculations.
Eno, you can bullshit and bluff your way out of it all you like - the upshot is I will just dislike you even more as it shows you can't put your hand up and admit you made a mistake. You haven't used either camera, either.
