Just tried it out for the first time
    It's fucking good.
Looks more like A6500 than X-T2
No crop either. Super fine noise grain.

We carry the Second Shooter where I work and I've used it a handful of times. It's very easy to set your points and adjust your speeds based on what you need. It's a very strong system and the menus are very straight forward. It's solid.

Granted I haven't used it extensively, but this is from testing and slight use in the field.

FS100 lacking NDs is a little annoying for me personally. Trying to avoid that. Image is nice though. Another reason I'm looking into the AF100 is because I'm invested in M43 a little bit. C100 doesn't have slo mo options which is something I need, and F3 + lenses would be a little out of budget. Plus media.

Just gauging to see what people use. Thanks for the input!

Sample footage! You can '>download the full resolution 3840 x 2160 Ultra HD file from Vimeo here if you're a 'Plus member'.

Keep an eye open for my Production Camera review in a forthcoming issue of Mac User magazine available at all good newsagents in the UK.

I am currently shooting 4K with the Blackmagic Production Camera on loan from their British office which features a global shutter and Super 35mm sensor for $3000. Yesterday I found myself at an aeropark built in 1930's Berlin, thanks to a suggestion from Lars Rehm of DPReview who also finds himself in Berlin for some reason! The girls are shot opposite an old wind tunnel and a giant egg shaped concrete structure which the Germans used to test the aerodynamics of fighter planes in, until the Russians came and nicked the fan. Part of the wind tunnel still has an inscription from the invading Russian forces noting that it's "free of mines" which cleared the way for them to take all the advanced technology back to the Soviet Union with them.

Today the aeropark is part of a university campus and parts of the Charlize Theron movie Aeon Flux were shot there. This shoot was my own experiment and not a commercial one.

Mondo got a reaction from Alex Kidd in Advice on eBay anamorphic lens listing (No advertising)
Just came across a lens called "Manon Anamorphic-8" on eBay and couldn't find anything else about the lens. It has a 1.5x squeeze though, which got me intrigued. Anyone know anything about that lens? Looks like it can't focus closer than 5 feet but I may be wrong.

The C100 and FS100 are both super 35 cameras.
Which means that the only camera out of the 2 that can deliver a full frame look (if that's a priority, or you have a lot of EF glass as opposed to EF-S glass) is, ironically, the Sony. As metabones don't make an EF to EF-S speed booster.

So your 24mm 1.4 will look like 24mm on the FS100 with the adapter. Get a Smart Adapter as well as a Speedbooster and that same lens can double as a, roughly, 35mm as well. Same goes for all the other lenses you have. Provided they are EF mounts. And you get 60p as well.

On the Canon the Super 35 crop is all you've got. And you can only get 60p with the 60i Premiere CC work around.
But the C100 is just so easy to pick up and shoot with. I've only used one twice, but each time it's a pleasure. The ergonomics and metering are spot on in my opinion. As for the FS100, I've only used it once and that was all tripod so I can't comment on what it is like hand held. But handling it at the end of the day it seemed ok but no where near that solid and compact feeling that you get with the Canon. Again just my opinion. The images that both these cameras can produce is great.

Personally I haven't been able to justify owning anything other than my GH3, my SLR Magic 12 and 25 and my Voightlander 17.5. I feel that I have a hell of a lot to learn before I can truthfully say that I've out grown those.

I've always known the GH3 packed a great punch in its IQ since I saw how much the latitude in the shadows improved over the GH2. It was my first sign that this little beast mixed with the right glass could produce amazing images and finally, having the time to create something for the art of filmmaking, decided to dive into the world of anamorphic and create something that I hope you all enjoy!   https://vimeo.com/71554911   All the technical details are in an article linked on the Vimeo page.   Used the Isco Ultra Star 2x anamorphic lens

    My personal workflow in premiere:

    1) Set up a custom premiere project at the aspect ratio I want. 2880x1080 for 1.5x anamorphic, or if I want 2.40:1 / 2.35:1, I use 2592x1080 / 2538x1080.

    2) Then I drop in the footage to the timeline, select it and go to Transform and do the proper width scaling (uncheck the box with uniform scaling) for the anamorphic. 150% for Iscorama, something around 1.7x (170%) to 2x (200%) for the Isco projection lens.

    3) Now you will have the center crop of your footage, with the left and right edges going outside.

You could do the same while working at lower resolutions, but I prefer to work at 1080p height if I want to output some high-res version later on. If I want to output it for vimeo or youtube, I usually let adobe media encoder do the job of downsampling it.

Canon GH2... good one. It's from Panasonic.

    Magic Lantern = Canon only.

There are hacks for the Panasonic GH2, they give you very high bitrates, and (out of the box) the  GH2 has better resolution than 5D II and III (also out of the box). There's no such thing as a raw hack for the GH2 and don't expect it will come or that ML will bring it.

Perhaps delete this thread & we start again to make it a place for recommendations, tried & tested, the weird, & it could also be a place for people to ask questions about anamorphics they've come across (is this separation or how bad is the separation on this lens) or prices (eg. Q. Is £4k a reasonable price for an Iscorama? A. No! )

But don't allow, "i'm selling my anamorphic on ebay" type stuff - we all know ebay & can do our own searches etc...

not one person dealing with this issue seems to have contributed positively at all to this forum.  Just come here to take take take.  either selling or buying, they bring NOTHING to the forum.  Personally I think there should be a stop to all this posting of ebay listings, personal sales, etc.  at least topics of this nature should be only postable and visible by regulars.

Also, someone please close the ebay listings topic.  this has to be the most ridiculous idea ever.  Share your findings with the world, kill any chance of you or anyone else savvy to anamorphics getting a bargain because everyone and their grandma can come in and see a run down of anamorphics worth bidding on.  If it were a secret topic to regulars I'd understand, but literally, I'd say that topic alone is contributing 50% towards the current silly inflation of anything with a squeeze ratio!

Mondo reacted to QuickHitRecord in Large Production Nature Docs - Gear questions
I had a film at the International Wildlife Film Festival last year, and I talked to many nature doc DPs about their techniques and some of the cameras that they were using. I was surprised by their answers. The Panasonic Varicam came up a few times, as did Red Epic, the Weisscam and even the AF100.

As a sidenote, I am actually contemplating doing another nature film, perhaps with the BMPCC coupled with the Panny 100-300mm. With the crop factor, that seems like that could be an insane combination for nature doc work.

The MoVi is way too expensive but I found the technology exciting. Rather than be hyped about RAW cameras and the latest Blackmagic camera, I'm more interested using my current camera and using new production gear to pull off more complex, interesting, cinematic shots with small crews, tight budgets and timeframes.

So anything below the MoVi is of great interest to me. Much more so then all this camera talk! I do ideas, not specs ;)

I'd like to point out that the GH3 has MUCH better low light handling and dynamic range than the GH2. It's more in line with the Canon crop-sensor cameras, even a bit better.
It's also lightyears better as a stills camera than the GH2. There's a much bigger difference in stills quality than video, in fact.
