Emanuel reacted to Piet Haag in GH5 v2.1 firmware
Hey all
New firmware update, 10th October 2017:
Following bugs were found after updating the firmware to Ver.2.0 but now they have been fixed.
[Power Save LVF Shooting] was automatically set to [1 sec].
(This makes the camera go into sleep mode in 1 sec in a standby mode.)
* [Power Save LVF Shooting] will be set to [OFF] when the firmware Ver.2.0 is updated to Ver.2.1.
If you would like to enable [Power Save LVF Shooting], please set it on manually by selecting a designated time.
The parameters of picture quality adjustment in Photo Style were all set to -5 when setting the recording mode to [MP4 HEVC(AAC)]. This bug has been fixed.
* The parameters of picture quality adjustment in Photo Style will be reset to ±0 when the firmware Ver.2.0 is updated to Ver.2.1.
If you would like to adjust the picture quality in Photo Style, please adjust them manually.
There were cases where [V-LogL View Assist] did not work, This bug has been fixed.
There were cases where motion pictures recorded in [AVCHD] cannot be divided. This bug has been fixed.

After some tests i figured this out. When you set GH5 to record 4K 60 fps, for some reason the shutter speed goes up to 1/30 sec and does not stop at 1/60 as it should. So if you accidentally set the shutter speed at 1/50 for example (as i did), then the camera records at 30 fps (it totally makes sense). In FHD 60p mode though the shutter speed can't be set at these values, it stops at 1/60, again as it should be to prevent mistakes. So be careful with the shutter speed setting when you are recording 4K 60 fps, it's different than shooting FHD 60 fps.

Yeah I get it, I just believe that conversations sometime evolve and great information can be had from that evolution... so I guess I just don’t see the big deal if a side conversation occurs. But it’s not my forum, just my opinion.

Hi
Good news, thanks for reporting back, and I've seen successes and failures reported on non V90 cards even if the speed rating suggests it would be okay, so it might be a luck of the draw a little bit. (My Sandisk V30 cards work fine with FHD at 200Mbits/sec but failed after 20 or 30 seconds at 400Mbits/sec for 4K but that was expected). I'd be inclined not to trust anything important to a non V90 card, but otherwise if it works it works. In terms of backup to two cards, Panasonic have stated in their manual insert update for firmware 2.0 that at least one card must be a V60 or better for the back up function to two cards.
Good on Panasonic for not blocking non rated V60 or 90 cards which I thought they might have done, so the camera at least can have a best effort attempt at any card.
Regards
Phil

One lens, One love, One life... my friend ;-)
Great song BTW:
Apologies to Bono Vox, but as much as the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 nothing beats the unique when some_ONE pops up... :-P

So, for image quality for the most common type of film, I guess, it's very near its peak. We don't need more resolution, nor dynamic range, if you shoot it right. Film was plenty good more than 70 years ago
I don't know how hdr will change things. I haven't been loving the hdr stuff i've seen, but tech for that will get better in other areas too. And plenty of current cameras work alright for hdr. 360 video and vr will advance quite a bit clearly, but it's something I don't care about.
Multiple uses is just a different way to interpret the question, but a good point. Fitting in your pocket is a nice feature, but the lens you like most wouldn't fit in your pocket on its own, not including the large sensor camera. So that's 2 cameras
I'm hoping for a revolution in work flow, I guess. Immediate cloud transfer and teeny files is something that could make us look back and scoff

It looks like it works pretty well, when you stay within the realm of reasonable. I'll never understand the jumping completely in and out of frame tests, Honestly who shoots that way.

In your opinion, does the GH5 give you half the quality of the Ursa? More than half? Less than?

Not a great response by him, but do not take it too personal as missteps occur. Some older people can get grumpy or impatient at times with youngsters who they feel should do a little research on their own first (google, youtube, vimeo and this forum's search engine). Sometimes younger people are also impatient with older people who maybe don't frequently use or understand new ideas, technologies and trend directions as well. Maybe and hopefully, a different approach in response can be considered in the future instead. On can never stop learning and this forum as a whole has more people willing to offer advice than not.

Indeed. That's my point exactly. If you're happy with, why to move along? : )
I have to be pretty sincere on here. I normally resist to trade in my tools for the newest promise to keep up the vibe. To me the secret is always on combos. That's just my weak point :-D
Speaking of devil, 5D2 only had two flaws: DSLR form factor (I did the move to the GH series to begin with the GH1 and never looked back in any way other than as when ML RAW popped up) and aliasing/moiré. The latter one much prone to overcome with the proper handy skillful workarounds. We did a feature film with (even before ML hack) becoming a web series too later, at least:
