Huge update for the Sigma FP, allowing a total of three RAW flavors, and a lot of other thinhs. Here the list of enhancements :

Maybe a good reason for Canon not to cripple their products to “save” the higher end. I say give the people what they want and that is a Canon camera with no-crop 4K60p+ with DPAF and 10-but clog.
The sports photographer will buy the 1DXM3, the wedding and event and landscape people will buy the R5, the vast majority of YouTube crowd will buy the R6, and the serious video production rental companies will buy the C300s and C500s and maybe R5s. It’s pretty simple.

Agree with you. Just looking at the c300 MkIII, which is even more interesting in my opinion than its big brother c500 mkII, with the no cropped high framerates, the incredible dual gain output, new sensor technolgy...
Aside from the difference in sensor size and resolution, c300 is not crippled in any way, so much that on c500 users FB groups it makes people kind of upset.
Canon made up their mind in 2020.

yeah I also read or heard somewhere that even though you don’t get a raw panel in FCPX any adjustments are still happening in linear space prior to debayer.

Looks like my comment has got some Sony fanboys triggered.
Canon actually had their Cinema division work hand in hand with Imaging to produce R5. That’s how they leapfrogged the competition.

I stand by my words, only Sony can compete in this FF hybrid battle due to their AF & sensor advancements. But they will have a hell of a hard time matching let alone trump Canon on this one.

The specs are out did you not get the memo?
    8K / 4K120fps + IBIS > 5.9K / 4K60p + EIS
Obviously the C500ii has a slew of other advantages that are proper to Cine cams of that price range but on resolution, HFR, stabilisation.. YES the R5 outperforms the C500ii. And on the codec front they are similar which is also unprecedented considering the C200 doesn't even have 10-bit internal.
Log options, recording times, media, I/O, NDs etc.. obviously all goes to the C500ii.
What you can't seem to get a grasp on is that it's a first for to have a consumer line hybrid stills cam outperform a dedicated cine cam on both resolution and HFR.. as well as equate it on codecs and sensor size.
That alone is huge and a total game changer.
DR & RS? Of course it will probably still tilt towards the cine cams.
C300iii even announced a breakthrough in the DR department.
Canon aren't crazy, they will not stop developing & innovating their cine line, I never ever stated that.
Their strategy however is to stop pulling the cripple hammer on consumer division.
They've realised the +$10K cine market isn't the same as their consumer hybrids and that there is little to no risk of cannibalising these two markets. If anything, pros will buy BOTH cams for A/B purposes.
Again this is a giant game changer as far as imaging/cinema strategies within a Japanese company.
I know its hard to believe this is all coming from Canon, a brand many had lost all hopes, but it's true.
These are all FACTS, not some dreamed up unicorn A7S3 R5-Killer Sony fanboy wishful thinking.
If you don't realise that, then you're the one who should take your own advice and get a grip on reality.

R6 will have my attention... I'll stick with my beloved S1H for now... The ProRes Raw firmware will help me wait on more infos to make any decision...
Beautiful times to be a filmmaker (but strange times overall with this health crisis and lock down)...

The sensor is basically on par with the A7R4: https://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/PDR.htm#Canon EOS 1D X Mark III,Sony ILCE-7RM4
This does not mean that in RAW video it will have the same DR.... but for photo the sensor definitely has a really good DR

Oh my god they made everything right this time. i'm just waiting for the dynamic range improvement over my Canon EOS R (not difficult) and if it comes close to my S1h, I might pull the trigger 😉

Of course it is real IBIS:
For the first time on any Canon camera, 5 axis In Body sensor movement Image Stabilisation is offered which works in harmony with Canon RF lenses to combine Optical and In-Body Image Stabilisation to provide the ultimate in shake free super-sharp images and movies.

Actually I think there are only a few shots in ProRes RAW. But you have this video that was shot entirely in ProRes RAW :
This one too (just a trailer shot bu Sherif Mokbel) :

Obviously Canon made improvements, they couldn't be as bad as they were. Just look at this quick test I made between my two camera bodies (Canon EOS R and Panasonic S1H).
Same settings (except I had to put iso 400 on eos r and iso 640 in S1h as I was shooting Log and compensate with aperture), same scene, 30 seconds apart.
Guess wich is wich. Easy to spot the bad highlights handling right? 😅
So much room in the highlights with the S1H compared to the Canon EOS R !! I really hope the R5 (or R6) would do better than this cause I'm very interested in it. DR will be the main selling point for me as I know the AF, the colors, the handling would be great. I just want improved DR and maybe I'd consider it over my S1H for video, to complement my EOS R wich serves me so well for stills.

Only question I have left, is how many DR it will pack, as that is one department canon was dropping behind. (and for me one of the most important specs of the camera)

4K120p Full Frame 10 bits 422 with C-LOG and DPAF and IBIS, all in a Canon ergonomical package?

For the past 3 years I have asked this repeatedly here on EOSHD, people laughing at me like it couldn’t happen as late as 2019. In fact, I asked those exact specs, but with 60p. Canon comes and does it with 120p.
There always was an issue. We had no IBIS in Fuji, mini sensor on Panasonic, or bad ergonomics, or bad autofocus (S1).
Now it comes in the most perfect possible way. Absolutely insane. Its crushing the competition so much that I don’t see Why anyone on earth wanting a mirror less for video and has the money for it would choose anything else
Thanks Canon. It was about time.
Now let’s get rid of those Sonys.

In my case GAS intensity is usually inversely proportional to the amount of shooting I do, so the more I actually use my gear the less I want to upgrade it.
Sounds counterintuitive, but that’s the way it is.
If I’m grounded and have nothing to do, then I fantasize what piece of equipment would be nice to own, what would come in handy.
But then I just go shooting and forget about the whole ‘you-need-this’ thing.
It’s definitely in our heads and I think that by clearing our shelves,  we clear our minds of unnecessary fuss, too.
So – congrats on the decision, it’s a wise one if you feel good with yourself.
I think I’ll be letting go of one or two lenses, too..

Canon really need to up its game regarding sensors and dynamic range.
