    I think that it's less of a company and more of a one-man operation. Alan makes these and sells them out of his home. I don't think that he's in an unhealthy relationship with the internet like so many of us are so it can take some time before he gets back to you. It's well worth the wait; the quality of these adapters is superb.

    I have never seen that one before. It looks like a French version of the Century. 1.5x stretch, right? Is there a focus ring? What is your minimum focus distance? And most importantly, do you have any footage to show us?

      Those ARE unique looking flares. I can't quite put my finger on why they look so different. They don't show up when you'd expect them to (i.e. when you were pointing the camera into headlights) and they look solid. As in, they don't look like light but rather like something physical and tangible emanating from your light sources. Cool!

    It's nice to see a write up about these. I haven't seen people posting much info about them at all. The ability to rack focus is nice. I'm curious though, since this seems to be an optical effect created by mirrors, how do the flares look?

      I'm pretty sure it would just be Nikon-mount glass. I have a set of Nikkor AI-S lenses that would probably work with it, but for most non-Nikon collectors this would probably not be a great fit.

    To my eye, the image from the D5200 doesn't look as crisp. I'll be curious to see some comparisons between 400% blow ups.    Does it enable magnified focus assist when plugged into an external monitor? Coming from the GH2, that's a big one for me.

      Interesting. I never came across that one and I think that it looks like it  might work. In fact, I'd go for that over the Cavision; the velcro straps won't snap like the ABS can.

    I had the same issue. After much searching I ended up buying this: http://www.cavision.com/rods/R15-60LS06U.htm   It worked great the first time out, but the second time I overtightened it and one of the end-pieces snapped. Cavision sent me a replacement  for free but I have yet to set it up again.

    Great stuff, especially the skate video. There's something really special about the look from the 8mm anamorphics.   The Lomo square fronts exhibit rainbow diffraction as well, but I've not seen it with any other lens until your example.

    Nikkor 85mm f/2 AI-S is my favorite spherical for anamorphic shooting with my GH2, but you'd better have a good tripod if you are going to do this.   The 85mm Non-AI is also excellent and costs much less.

    Something I've noticed: anamorphic bokeh has a tendency to be more oval at the edges of a frame and more true-circular near the center. Clearly, this is a result of the curvature of the glass, but what focal length / distance / diopter combination gets you consistent ovals across the frame?

    Very nice. As far as I know, tilt shift anamorphic is a new frontier.   I think that I have told you before that your daughter has a great face for cinema (and I mean that, not everybody does!). And the architecture of Bordeaux looks so timeless. It's a perfect combination for shooting anamorphic films. I look forward to watching your next film!

    I find that for any lens with a focal length less than 50mm (on Micro Four Thirds), I can operate with a shoulder rig without shake/vibration. It's really only with true handheld, shooting out of a car window, or with some kind of an improvised dolly that I miss stabilization.

    I think that everybody here is secretly or not-so-secretly hoping to find an anamorphic that no one else has and to make that look their own.   This certainly looks promising. Congratulations on your find!

    I had time for another quick test, this time with the 35mm Square Front. At infinity focus, it is a true 2x stretch. But at close focus, it's only a 1.78x stretch. And here's what's really crazy: there is a vertical stretch of 104% as well!   I will have to try this on my other Lomos to see if I get the same results.   I also discovered that my 3x3 matte box will fit in front of my 35mm without vignetting (as long as I crop it to 1.5x). I was worried that I would have to buy a new matte box and filters that would offer enough coverage -- this is very good news!

    Sometimes focus "breathing" (i.e. shifting field of view when changing focus) can give you an odd aspect ratio. For instance, my Lomos are more like 2x focused to infinity, but more like 1.8x at close focus. If you were focused at 11.5 feet (for example), the correct aspect ratio would lie somewhere between the extremes and would not be a standard stretch factor.

    I have done a test with both and I can't really tell the difference. Maybe there isn't enough motion in my frame.

      I think these were made for Lomo Foton-A Anamorphic zoom lenses. If it is in good condition, you might get some good money for this.
