It undermines nothing. These are still DSLRs. Adding Log does not change that fact.

Hey, man, I already purchased EOSHD C-LOG from you! I would just be very upset if Canon added the official Canon LOG to the 5D4 and ignored the 1DX2

Fingers crossed for a 1DX-II update too.... Could make for something of a perfect hybrid camera, once c-log is added (or maybe a 1DC-II at NAB)

Then they should add it to the 1dx ii unless there is an upgrade to the 1dc on the horizon.

Just get your facts straight and you will be fine.
    - 5D3/D750 aren't 4K cameras, so no 4K monitor can help you there
    - The monitors we are talking about are NOT real 4K monitors, is this comprehendible enough for you?
    - Full frame focus with 1.4f lenses is almost impossible to focus right for more than 1 second - or less, even if you had a 65" TV worn on your  head, it isn't about the monitor/screen/focus peaking, it is about physics. That is another huge conversation, about the 5Dii revolution, and the effects on moving image mentality and psychology, not for this topic.
That's what I said, that's what you seemed missing completely, people with less knowledge are reading these forums, and they will try to find 4K monitors to use with their D750, or else they won't be able to pull focus with out a focus puller on 1.4f lenses, filming a soccer game.
I did not call you anything, I just disagreed with your generalities and offered facts to your myths, while it is truth, people didn't use 4K monitors until a year ago, and still just a wee tiny portion of video makers have a true 4K monitor (something like a 0.4%) to help them with focus, do you disagree with that?

That has nothing to do with "hacking". It's just a bot registering new users and posting rubbish. Maybe the register form needs a good captcha function or the new registrations should need manual approval by a moderator before being able to post for a while?

My eye was particularly taken by his post about promising to cure relationship problems using black magic.
On the basis of that, I've ordered an Ursa Mini Pro.
I'll keep you posted on whether it does indeed stop the missus nagging me about doing more around the house.

I was gonna say for 1080p, 5D3 RAW, with the exception of DR and highlights (though you can do a lot with Adobe Camera RAW if you have the processing time), is the Baby Alexa Deal of the Century...

It isn't so much about "affording decent lighting equipment". if you're shooting run & gun, events, weddings etc.. you don't have time to set up lights on every shot.. that's where Canon/Sony cams come in handy. I don't see those type of shooters switching over. For all the marketing, BMD cams are still mostly cinema cams in their ISO handling. They're trying to compete with Red/Arri on a budget. Amazing for studio & narrative with controlled lighting or sunny california outdoor shoots but for other types of shooting or low light conditions they're far from ideal. You'll get all kinds of noise & block artefacts that Da Vinci for sure can't solve..
Also I hope they've fixed that magenta cast issue the 4.6K sensor had!

One area where Sony/Canon destroy BMD is ISO performance. Ursa's base ISO is 400/800 and maxes out at 1600. This alone rules them out of quite a few situations..

Canon is not going to do anything, no need at all, and Sony will continue doing the same thing, crapy skin-tones in 6-month depreciated cameras……GH5 is the big winner here, it is going to sell like french fries, I think the only that could have stopped in some portion the mayor GH5 Tsunami should have been the announcement of a pocket v2….

Hi, some months ago I found peer-to-peer transfer websites and now I always use them to send large files. They have no file size limits. My favorite is takeafile.com because is more professional (robust to short net disconnections and so)

It's generally easier, faster and cheaper for me to just mail a hard drive with return postage included (at least in the US using Priority Mail flat-rate packages). Anything over 5GB requires paid subscriptions, and postage is cheap.

It's simply a matter of time before Canon, Sony, Panasonic, as we know them today, will cease to exist. Will take less than a decade, guaranteed. Market for cameras will become extremely niche and majority of consumers will have needs met by next gen smartphones with better optics and sensors.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg as changes go. We're living in the twilight of captilism. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Jaime Valles reacted to Jimbo in Sell my 1DC for GH5?
I've been a Panasonic user since the GH2 and each upgrade has been fantastic. They've successfully delivered worthwhile improvements in every area of function and image and seem to really listen to their user base. It's an exciting yet reliable system to be a part of. The GH5 looks certain it will continue this trend and two areas of promising improvement seem to be low light and colour given the current videos (an area where Canon has historically had the edge).
However, like @Flynn says, a lot of Canon users love the colour science and can't let it go despite the cameras lacking functionality and features. If that specific mojo inspires you to make films then you may struggle with a switch to Panasonic.
How do you use your cameras? For earning money, for filmmaking on the side, or a mixture of both? I use them for both so the practicality and features of the Panasonics win the day. I think I would feel like I had one arm tied behind my back if I tried making a living as videographer with a 1DC now.
My other thought, was that if your dream is to clear your debts and get to LA (not far off mine!) then I would be making all my decisions based on what would get me there faster. At the end of the day, mojo, lowlight, codecs, and all the jazz we are all guilty of getting sucked into on this forum, are secondary to having a great idea, writing it and shooting it. If you've got something dynamite, it can be shot on anything and other factors such as writing, lighting, acting and editing will be what get your piece noticed.
Final thought, networking in LA will probably advance your career more than any camera ;-)

Not sure I would part with a 1DC for a GH5. The image from the 1DC looks great.  But I would certainly consider it as a B-cam.

Jaime Valles reacted to fuzzynormal in How Not To Work With A Client
So, trying to function as professional in the industry is more about people skills than not.  At least that's been my experience at the level I'm at.  No one's ever going to hire me because I have a craft level that's superior to those in the upper echelon of film making.  I'm just not that guy.
Which leaves me in a precarious situation --as most of the time the work I'm doing has been quick boutique "one-offs" wherein I go in for a day or two, gather footage, then take it back to the homestead and edit it together.  Rather simple, small and fun stuff to do.  Nothing special about that.  12 year olds have better equipment and do the same.
The tough situation I'm facing is that my ability to tolerate a difficult client has diminished.  Maybe it's a sign of getting older?
This is no small thing.  Seriously, the desire to coddle a client has seemingly disappeared.   For instance, I'm working on a documentary thing where the client is so maddeningly absent minded, she has forgotten about shoots, called me in at the last minute to locations, sent me on location for shoots that are irrelevant to the product, has failed to produce shoots that offer any useable coverage, won't stop talking (about herself) to the documentary subjects on location to allow clean b-roll of said subject, doesn't seem aware that words from an interview require some sort of image to cover the endless droning of a talking head, refuses provide interview (trans)scripts with accurate time-code, etc, etc, etc....
Basically, she's kind of incompetent (from my point of view) to direct documentaries.  Nice person, but her choices and process are maddeningly pathetic.  Nevertheless, she's paid me a flat rate to do all this stuff for her.
    Aha!  Therein lies the problem.
Never, ever, work with a bad client on a large project for a flat rate. --AND ALWAYS assume first time out of the gate, no matter how sweet they are, that you're getting in bed with a potentially difficult client.  You'll end up being exploited and resentful; resentful to your client and resentful to yourself for agreeing to such ridiculous terms to begin with.
Anyway, that's my advice.  How to y'all cope with a shitty client?  I drink lots and lots of wine and get fatter.  You?

Sorry to bump this post but there was some discussion of the WFT-e8A on here. I had a huge lag when using it with the Camera Connect app and the Ronin-m. after a bit, I narrowed the problem down to the bluetooth connection inside of the Ronin. It always on and you can't disable it.

The trick to fix it is to have your Ronin-M on and connected to the DJI Assistant app so that there is an active bluetooth connection, use the "viewer" mode so that its transmitting data to your phone. THEN setup your WFT-E8a network with the connection wizard. It will detect the interference and use a different channel. Drove me nuts! So I hope this helps someone else.
