There are definitely lots of non photog buying X100 because of the hype. Like when I use my X100VI I do get response from normal people, unlike all the Sony/Canon/Pana I used before people just being indifferent.

4k50p is too much for pocket zoom camera as they will literally explode π

https://www.wired.com/story/28-years-later-danny-boyles-new-zombie-flick-was-shot-on-an-iphone-15/ Unlike previous film shot on iPhone which was on limited budget, this one is proper budget and the whole setup for that iphone looks like 70k in total. But then 28 days later was shot on xl1, I guess they want to keep the consistency?

Thanks for the write up, It does look like current R5II user are still beta testing for Canon. I don't remember my 1st release R5 have this much problem except the fake overheating timer.

End up selling to a friend so all good. Found a full time job but they use Canon there.. so back to team Canon π -
If I was all on RF L lens with my FF camera then C80 definitely fit better, those FF lens is not really great on C70 due to 1.5x crop And I really notice the sharpness when I punch in post, the R5C is way more clearer.

There definitely seem to have lots of komodo for sale lately on my local auction site, one guy list the reason is less cinema and more social video π And the best cam for social beside phones will be Panasonic with their Opengate mode and M43 is the closest to a square sensor vs 3:2 on APSC/FF -

I have Nisi True Color which doesnt have color tint which is good, but pricy. (sick of those yellow tinted VND) There is Neweer True Color variable nd which was released a month ago is a lot cheaper, and have 1-9 stop ver without color cast. They also sell the non true color ones but those will gave u the tint.

Of course content is the key When you watch on Onlyfans would u care if they shoot on iPhone or Pro grade camera? I think 99.9% users of OF don't care. π Anyway I moved from Sony FX3 to Canon R7 this year as my personal main cam. Most client couldn't careless, and image quality wise most won't tell the difference except that low light which I hardly shoot.
-
Yeah that is your opinion, I also shoot occasional 8k for virtual production or those showing on big LED And 8K is needed for VR applications, those 6k 360 cam is not really sharp for Vision Pro.. Raw on the other hand I rarely use it so it must be gimmick π

Says the guy who research a lot of cameras π I am definitely keen to try filming in super 8 though, should be simple compare to modern camera? Just the film is expensive to buy and develop and only 3 min for each roll.

Yeah, 1080p cropped for vertical is like 600*1080.. even less than 720p resolution. With 4k you can do fake dolly or slider in post or punch in for close up, much more to play with and give you abit of headroom for errors. Does people even shoot only 2MP photo nowadays?
-
We shoot 4k for flexibility in post, and if u want to make portrait video for social from the same footage then the 1080p will be too low res for that.

I think a used EOS RP will suit ur need, since it is FF it still beat any apsc out there for low light capture, and should be in ur budget too.
-
On Sony body Sony lens is more stable than Tamron.

Yeah r5's 4k120p is all-I only, so in terms of practicality R5II is massive improvement on that. R5II's 4kSraw for 25p/24p is like 350mbps, that is much more manageable vs R5's 8k only raw with huge 1700mbps. But then again not having card to test is a bummer, really keen to see how it fare with c70's 4k raw.
-
So had a play with R5II in store today They fixed IBIS wobble for wide. 4k120p is now only 300Mbps instead of R5's 1880Mbps and with sound too FHD 240fps with sound as well, that will be pretty epic for shooting action/sports etc. The false colour is nice, it gives u a guide too so you know what to look for. Clog2 does seem to give that more DR vs Clog3. In clog 3 there is white bar on the right on histogram but clog2 u have full range. The tracking with the ability to stick to 1 subject completely or occasionally change or change more often, in conjuction with face register that should able to keep say bride/groom in focus all the time instead of random people that is on the screen. I tried eye focus for a bit, but since I did basic calibration so the system might still need tune more, for now I still prefer touch screen/joystick. And no 60mbps ipb lite vs R5, 100mbps is the lowest for 4k25p and 150mbps for 4k50p. Ability to choose fine 1080p is nice, but there is no 4k fine in crop 4k60p though, since I can't take my own card so I can't verify if it does supersampled 4k50p on cropγ

Yeah I bought the Canon 28mm cause I really miss the 20mm and 14mm pancake back in the day with m43, 22mm with M50/M6ii, 24mm with 200D and surprisingly there is no AF pancake for Sony FF system. R8 with 28mm is slightly more depth than my X100Vi Limited.

Last year I was trying out Sony after being laid off hence selling most of my Canon gears, this year finally found a fulltime job and they use Canon, so I m back to full Canon again. It's funny given how popular Sony are but all the fulltime ones I went they all use Canon for video. And to most people they wouldn't able to tell supersampled 4k or normal 4k.. they only care about how their face/skin look on cam.
