Above: myself shooting with an anamorphic LOMO on the GH2 I’ve already fired off my suggestions for the GH3 to one of my most helpful friends in the industry. Thanks a great deal. Now you can see the suggestions to in this open letter to Panasonic. I’ve listed the requests in order of priority. Yes I’d really like to see that Canon G1X style built in ND filter.

Canon have introduced a kind of augmented reality to their factories, when a designer is evaluating a physical prototype, a more detailed CGI image reacts to his movements and gives a live CAD video feed through special glasses.
Above: GH2 on a heli rig Today the first episode of Zacuto’s 2012 shootout is aired. (Update: it is now live – watch it here). This isn’t really a shootout in a technical sense rather a subjective and less scientific comparison whereby each camera is made to look as good as possible. [vimeo]http://vimeo.com/44064956[/vimeo] I’ve shot a comparison in Berlin today between my modified 5D Mark III and the standard 5D Mark III. The modified 5D Mark III is similar to the Nikon D800E in that the anti-aliasing filter has been removed. (Which is why the modified 5D Mark III is dubbed 5D3E in the video). But is it any good?

DPReview have updated their D800 review with comparison samples and image quality analysis versus the D800E. Along with a 2GB uncompressed file from…
Regular followers will know I’ve been a big fan of the Sony HX9v (shooting this piece on it last year in Berlin), a compact camera and the first to do 1080/60p. The video mode of this camera (and the G lens) were superb even though it had a small chip and lacked manual control. Resolution and detail was great and the stabiliser was out of this world. The updated HX20v…
