New article for DigitalRev plus video competition!

As regular readers (the best kind) will know I recently joined DigitalRev as a contributor. This time I went out and about with my Sony HX5 to get the low-down on how it’s Sweep Panorama produces amazing digital fisheye images, which are almost identical to ones done with a real fisheye lens!

Exclusive interview with cinematographer Rob McLachlan ASC/CSC – Part 1

EOSHD has in the last few days been talking to Human Target and Final Destination Director of Photography Rob McLachlan about the Panasonic GH1 and HDSLR shooting.

Robert McLachlan ASC,CSC is a leading cinematographer based in Vancouver. Rob shot 1st unit on Final Destination, Dragonball Evolution and Fox’s network TV show Human Target. McLachlan has also completed technically ambitious 2nd unit cinematography work on The Golden Compass and additional photography for Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D.

Canon shoot own TV advertising campaign on EOS cameras

Canon, rather unsurprisingly you might say, are using the 5D Mark II combined with the 550D and full HD super-zoom Powershot, the SX210 to film their own TV advertising campaign.

The campaign is in the format of ‘stories’ about photographers and artists, and is set throughout Europe, beginning in Italy.

I don’t think it’ll be as good as the one currently airing in Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan about the Vixia camcorders though! (Pictured). Reminds me of the Levi’s flat eric character – a classic of advertising if ever there was one.

Nikon – sleeping giant, soon to come on board the video train?

According to NikonRumors.com there are new signs today that the sleeping giant has finally recognised the demand for video in HDSLRs and will begin a push to implement and market it – properly. Until now, Nikon have had a very poor implementation of video mode on their DSLR cameras despite being first to the market with it!
