  1. This is a simple clip i did from a vacation to Porto last year, used a D800 (with the bitrate hack) wth 35mm art lens and Samyang 14mm. It really is a simple clip, not that much storyline, just wanted to have fun grading the footage and assembling it to have something to look at thats all. Graded in premiere.
  2. According to DxOMark the dynamic range of the Nikon D800 is a whopping 14.4 stops. I have no problem believing that it is not the same as the Alexa and that the Alexa's 14 stops are calculated differently. It is interesting though that the Canon 5D Mark III only scores a mere 11.7 in the same test, making it almost a half stop less than the 6D (currently the best performing Canon DSLR in the dynamic range category) and 0.2 stops lower than the Mark II Nikon D800: http://www.dxomark.com/Cameras/Nikon/D800 Canon 5D Mark III http://www.dxomark.com/Cameras/Canon/EOS-5D-Mark-III Does anybody else find this a bit peculiar? Especially since the 5D is the "go to" DSLR for filmmakers, heck I even own one my self.
  3. Shot over the past few years when we go home to Salisbury NB. This is down by the river where the children play. WE have such a good time hanging out with friends and family here. Big thanks to everyone who comes out to see us while we are home. Shot on the Nikon D800 and D4 with the Dog Schidt Optiks FF58 Q1.5 Amber lens, Iscorama 1.5X anamorphic and other Nikkor lenses.
  4. This is shot using the D800, DSO Trump FF58 with Oval aperture, the new flare sex filter and towards the end the Iscorama 1.5X anamorphic lens mounted inside the Trump for a 2X oval bokeh.   https://vimeo.com/76912854   Some images of the trump I'll grab one with the iscorama in there too.
  5. Here is a short clip from last night, just hanging out down by the river with this massive swing my father put in. Love it down there, bonfires, drinks, nature, swings over the water.   https://vimeo.com/72460915
  6. Shot some small tests with the Iscorama on my d800 last week. Shot on D800 with the nikon 50mm 1.4D and Tokina +0.4 diopter and Hoya +1 diopter. I did the edit in premiere, grading in speed grade and second grade in nuke using some custom grading filters I made using filters from on set.   My site www.robbannister.com   Downloads page http://www.robbannister.com/downloads/   videos CC1 http://vimeo.com/64450588   CC2 http://vimeo.com/64464863   Hopefully I'll have some stuff really worth showing soon.   Rob

Just another short shoot with the iscorama and D800. I used the hyperdeck shuttle 2 recording to DnxHD out of the hdmi port.   http://vimeo.com/64695364
  8. I'm learning filmmaking besides my fulltime job, and unfortunately I haven't found much time to edit the footage I shoot yet. I put up one short clip for a few friends to see though, so I thought I might share it with you guys as well.   https://vimeo.com/59350324     Sadly enough, I found out that the fine detail was lost and that the sand which is blowing around in the foreground was quite blocky when vimeo had recompressed it. The original footage looks a whole lot better. If you guys have any tips on how to get the best anamorphic footage possible on vimeo/youtube, I'd love to hear them. I'm wondering if a 2538x1080 source uploaded to vimeo would have resulted in better video than the 1280x544 video I uploaded...   Also, I'm quite happy about how nicely the D800 is handling the dynamic range in this shot. In the light where I shot this footage I know that my old Nikon D200 stills camera wouldn't have captured a still with this much dynamic range in it.
  9. Hi, I have to decide which camera is better for an indie feature.
I need mainly two things: "cinematographic look" (and narrow DOF) and low-light ability. Filming will be make of long still "pictorial" takes based on indoor natural low-light only (even in evening). My first choice was 5D3 for it's low-light performance, but many guys say that it isn't a good choice for video, and that GH2 is a better choice because it's more detailed and without moire. I like the detailed GH2, but it's a bit noisy in low-light, and mainly I'm asking if GH2 detailed image has that cinematographic look I'm searching for, if it is a better "cine" choice than 5D3 or 5D2+MosaicFilter.
So, what is your advice for "cine" look (and narrow DOF) + low-light performance?
 1. 5D2+VAF(MosaicFilter)+MagicLantern?
 2. 5D3?
3. D800+VAF(MosaicFilter)+Shuttle2?
4. GH2+hackedFirmware?
5. FS100+Shuttle2? 6. Waiting for new GH3?
 Thx
