Scratch my previous post. I literally any full-frame camera released since 2018…with a catch. Never going to happen, but if someone were to decrypt the firmware and write a simple script to dump the raw live view feed to the memory card, magic lantern style, that would be my perfect camera. The just give me usuable autofocus and zebras and I’m good. So even an A7III or Nikon Z6 with a hack like this would be perfect. Never going to happen though.

Agreed we aren’t far away. It’s really not possible to truly complain about the images anymore. The 10 bit image from my Nikon Z6 is already good enough that I don’t think one needs better, plenty of DR, good color, thick coded and easy grading. FX3 is even better. We literally just need internal ND and waveforms basically and we are good

Canon 70D. Interesting cheap camera with ML RAW mojo and dual pixel autofocus. Paired with a sigma 18-35 could be an interesting combo!

Random lens question. I’m thinking of picking up a cheap old Tokina 12-24 F4, as it covers around 16-24mm without vignetting on full frame. Will be using on a Nikon Z6 with FTZ, but I won’t get AF support so will have to manual focus. If I’m zoomed out to around 16mm, is it possible to do tracking shots on a gimbal without having to worry too much about focus? As in I can set it to infinity and it will be good? I know it’s an F4 on FF, though my thought is it might be fine since it’s so wide so there will be little shallow DOF.

Panasonic S5 II (What does Panasonic have up their sleeve?)

True. He does at least present the info in a nice format, sometimes I enjoy watching his channel versus reading the rumor sites. That being said, I get why it’s a little annoying that it’s not original content. -
I'm telling you the FZ1000 is an underrated low-budget camcorder killer! Only the micro HDMI is a shame.
-
True, I guess I was just thinking about Andrew’s whole thing with not selling your gear on the forum without his permission unless you are a long-standing member.
-
Good point. So eBay fees are pretty intense I presume!
-
Note: I AM NOT TRYING TO SELL MY GEAR ON THIS FORUM, THIS THREAD IS PURELY FOR ADVICE
-
I’m leaning toward selling my camera setup as I want something to record internal 10 bit. May end up getting the glorious Panasonic S1 or ponying up a bit more cash for an FX30. Anyways I don’t want to sell on Adorama, B&H or MBP because I won’t get as much money as I could. I also want to get my gear sold fast. How easy and reliable is eBay for selling gear? Is Facebook Marketplace preferable? What is the best route for maximizing profits?

Agreed. If you want to rely on Digital IS, the best option is to shoot with a high shutterspeed to avoid motion blur. Of course that won't work well for indoor footage, and if you want motion blur still you will need to apply it in post. Davinci Resolve Studio and RSMB both can give you decent post-motion blur, and I've heard RSMB is essentially the best out there in this regard.

Wow with the low NR and zero-sharpening the GH5 II is shaping up to be an organic beast! The thing is cheap on the used market too!
-
I saw a used copy at Adorama for $79 and almost jumped on it. It’s rated “good” though which is one of the lower conditions.
-
Actually the 14mm is full frame! The 12mm F2 is the one that is crop sensor.
-
For sure I should have acted on those stupid cheap Samyang lenses. The 14mm 2.8 was like $130! And it’s a full frame lens too!!!

This is hilarious. I intended this to be about how the C100/C300 codec holds up in 2022. We are talking about something SO DIFFERENT now
-
For me the context is moreso the Nikon Z6 with an Atomos Ninja Star bolted to the hotshoe
-
True there is something very unique with 14 bit RAW. So much depth to the image.
-
Awesome man. I feel this is truly the first successors to the 5d Mark III with ML 14 bit RAW
-
FS5 isn’t a bad option for 1080p use because it’s 10 bit 422, might be oversampled too. Formfactor gets weird if you use an Atomos recorder for the 4k CDNG or Prores RAW
-
True. Still though, if we assume I get this super high bitrate then I wonder if 8 bit will be a big issue given the lovely canon colors and CLOG’s magical 8 bit handling.
-
What about a C100II with an Atomos ninja star for 220mbps prores? Still 8 bit though but you do gain 422
-
True though I shoot oversampled 1080p anyways with the Z6 to the Atomos ninja star. So if anything resolution should be comparable. And is dynamic range at least decent in CLOG1? Like decently better than Nikon FLAT? I know NLOG is worlds Bette than Nikon FLAT, and I feel CLOG1 might have a solid highlight rolloff too?
