  1. hmm, you could buy 33 bmp4k's @ $1800 australian for 59400 but you probably want to only get 30 and have some change for memory cards and a couple of rig solutions and a tripod perhaps

maybe us owners should start a thread here on the forum for it ? At least then members wouldn't have to go far to get info or an opinion on it
  3. i'm going to play devils advocate momentarily, they may demand 4k but what do they deliver ? I live a long way from any broadband connection so my viewpoint is extremely biased, however you try pushing 4k down through the internet to everyone, that sucker is simply going to melt. i notice tv stations are falling over themselves to present us with hd content let alone 4k, where i am 38 channels of 576i compared to ( lets be optimistic and ) say 4 channels of hd hmm thats like an excellent ratio dont you think ? Australia at least, is a long way behind the eight ball where hd and 4k are concerned. How other countries have it sorted i have no idea. It maybe true you can easily buy a 4k tv but getting or steaming content to play on that beastie is another issue all together i feel. Unless you live in a city 500 meters from a broadband hub, lucky you. What sort of data plan would you require for 4k or 6k anyway ? HD can chew through the gigabytes, 4k or 6k will be epic and next level, and require superconductors and still probably melt both polar icecaps, but they were melting already so its no big deal. There is 29,614 people on this forum, 6 billion on this planet and counting. Where video is concerned, i think that makes us a bunch of elitists. Notice i include myself in this description as well. If you can afford 4k, 6k, 8k cameras and everything that equipment entails i say awesome. If you can send receive or stream all that then your doubly awesome and must be living in utopia. Planetary wide, i'd say hd is probably a drop of water in the bucket. Personally i love my tech when i can afford it and playing with it. If you get paid to play with video and can claim it on your tax thats also awesome. But if i think on it really deeply then there is a bunch of people out there that would say my 4k pictures taste like shit and a can of baked beans would taste better and they would be right.

i was out and about today, found out there was a road up to the radio tower thats on the eastern side of town from talk at the local mens shed. They have actually put in a lookout up near the top as well this may be my new favorite spot. Had the p4k with me so here's a still from it. The tokina at the 28mm end of things
  5. have to agree with you on this, the photo button does require too much depressing which has to introduce camera movement. I like taking the occasional photo or dng. how do you propose to implement it btm_pix ? mind you go light on the duct tape ok
  6. not really. i retuned the tv the other day got like 38 tv channel some tv stations have like 4 channels with exactly the same crap on each one. after that theres still only two or three hd channels, the rest are 575 lines or what ever they are, why migrate to 6k and the added expense that would entail for 1 tv that would probably end up in my bedroom no broadcaster over here could use 6k anyway
  7. quite a few of the blogger reviews had double orders and i know of other that had multiple orders and once the first order turned up they either cancelled or tried hocking it on ebay at an inflated price. pretty suss behavior if you ask me but thats seems to be the way of things. my only question is how long till we hit 400 pages like the p4k did. personally i wont be getting one anytime soon, theres still plenty of life left in the p4k i got
  8. careful you might start a whole new craze, the double flares are interesting
  9. well done, very nice, and double focus as well. makes me think i'm a wuss wanting a single focus solution lol
  10. to be eligible you have to be over 18 otherwise those kids of yours would clean up ?
  11. well that proves i dont know too much lol. do you find it beneficial or include it in your work flow ?
  12. as far as i'm aware your editor has to generate them. i know resolve can generate proxies, i have seen it in a menu somewhere. Pretty sure my p4k cant and i'm pretty sure i have played with most of the settings available. Personally i think that would have to be some type of gun camera to record two separate video streams at once but maybe some one out there can prove me wrong. It wouldn't be the first time . i know stills camera can take a raw and jpg at the same time. but i think video with its 24 frames per second is a different kettle of fish compared to stills
  13. well i'm a beginner at all of this, not sure how creative i was, but one has to start somewhere.
  14. that's some novel thinking there. Which scopes have you pulled apart ? i have a set of nap 35 2-3 pulled apart for curiosities sake. Thats about as far as i got. Your ideas might inspire me to experiment a little further. what really intrigues me is the front mounted variable focus solutions. what are they exactly ?and how do they work ? and why haven't the chinese copied one and mass produced it lots cheaper like everything else ? but i digress.
  15. if its a mark two p4k with a flippy screen and internal variable nd i'm going to scream ...
  16. i grabbed this from comments under the video Optical comparison between Metabones' new speed booster designed specifically for BMPCC4K and general micro 4/3 cameras. XL 0.64 versions. In the last 20 seconds of this video I demonstrate that the focal plane of the new speed booster seems to have a larger angle of concave curvature than the m4/3 speed booster. The central focal point of the new booster is farther from camera than the edge focal points compared to the m4/3 booster. Physically the two boosters are near identical with the exception of the rear element of the BMPCC4K booster protruding farther (hence its incompatibility with most other m4/3 mount cameras). i wonder if it protrudes more to compensate for the reportedly thinner sensor stack the p4k has ? Personally i'm not seeing a huge amount of difference. There is some difference but not the huge jump i would have expected or perhaps was hoping for. I have to save my coin for abit regardless so it will be interesting to see what other peoples conclusions are but i'm still thinking a second hand 0.64 is is better value for me anyway at this point.
  17. That does look idyllic. very picturesque. i liked the sunstar. I was googling at how to do sunstars this morning , lo and behold one turns up in your video. from what i learnt i'm guessing you have a canon tele lens or leica maybe. the reveal will be interesting
  18. well thats inaugural (is inaugural the right word ? ) round one, done and dusted. I think the reveals will be interesting. I also cant help but think that the idea of losing a camera may of put alot of people off, statistics say there's 29606 registered members, pretty sure the submissions don't quite tally up too that. Which is a bit of a disappointment. Personally i learned alot about myself and resolve and associated video stuff with this competition and it was interesting to see other peoples submissions and how they tackled it. Looking forward to the next challenge although next time if i may suggest lets not make it about losing anything.
  19. an elmoscope type 1 will go for about $300 that would leave you with some change the type 2 will break your budget thats about all i know good luck
  20. try this one. Sorry i had enough last night seems like you cant embed a link before the video is converted by vimeo. Something else i have learnt.
  21. Here's my submission, resolve gave me lots of trouble kept falling over but i think i have it sorted now. Been a real learning curve and i probably wouldn't have learnt as much if i hadn't needed to finish the video, so thanks for the challenge ☺️ vimeo is converting my video, hope the link works, its near three oclock in the morning way past my bedtime, see you all tomorrow https://vimeo.com/user22673781/review/352088562/206b5e0b26
  22. utilized one of your songs eric, for the eoshd camera challenge thanks for the making the music available
  23. i just through out a line to see if i'd get a bite ? from what i hear on the news all you lot are overheating over there not just the cameras lol
  24. well the topic was kind inflammatory and considering andrew did a review of it not so long ago and gave it a thumbs up. i think people should take a more considerate approach to potential forum titles. and leave the clickbait titles to bloggers
