  1. Sony FS7 just got a price drop. Down to $6,000 new and around $5,000 used atm. I think when they get down to $4500 I might pick one up and sell my FS5. yeah its def made to be used on the shoulder or a tripod. C500mkii is the better option for a gimbal operator that needs autofocus.
  2. SDI - cables lock in, you can run the cables significantly longer (several hundred feet) HDMI - cables don't lock in place (micro and mini are even flimsier) max out at around 50 feet Its just like comparing XLR audio cables to 3.5mm mini jack cables. Once you experience the pro grade XLR connectors its hard to go back to shitty 3.5mm audio cables. - At least if your a working pro..
  3. sounds like some Kardashian type stuff (entire film crew for a family vaction) lol
  4. exactly, or at least in the FX6. One thing Sony has on everyone is a single mount from high end cinema all the way down to the mirrorless photography bodies.
  5. AF and colors look really good. The Sony fanboy in me can't help but drool.
  6. Depends on the market as someone that shoots sports I see FS7s more than any other Super 35 ILC. I think with the autofocus + vari ND, sports networks are going to buy these things up. The 16 bit raw basically kills the F5 and the F55. The F55s only trick is that electronic global shutter. I cant speak for those that work in low end features/Netflix/BBC Wildlife stuff Alexa Mini is still FAR and away the king in Hollywood atm.
  7. https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagicvideoassist Monitor/recorder, 5 and 7 inch models, HDR support, scopes, etc. A blazing 2500 nits for both options. $800 and $1000 respectively The most interesting part is you can record BRAW with it. I wonder how this will work with other cameras from diff manufactures. Also Blackmagic RAW is officially supported in Avid and Premiere Pro.
  8. Braw is also officially supported in Avid and Premiere Pro CC now
  9. Cameras are tools though. These updates in technology are simply there to make life easier.
  10. I believe the Venice + F55/F5 systems run the same way
  11. I agree with a loy of the article. BM cameras still have FAR to many issues to be considered for prime time paid work imo, I believe the GH5 is a better option. The EOS rp is literally just a full frame SL2/SL3 lmao
  12. What would be cool is if it did 12 bit raw through the sdi outta the box. And if you want the 16 bit raw u have to buy the xdca. Its still cheaper than a used F5 with the AXS R7 lol
  13. https://www.sonyalpharumors.com/its-official-sony-launches-flagship-fx9-e-mount-camcorder-with-newly-developed-full-frame-sensor/ Leaked Press text - Full frame 10 bit 422 oversampled 6K to 4K video. A9 video autofocus (over 90% sensor coverage) Venice color science and dual ISO 800/4000 The usual high frame rates and 16 bit raw external.
  14. wasn't the mix pre line targeted more to the prosumer market with the 633 still being in their pro range..
  15. As a sony shooter a phone with these specs its pretty cheeseful, does look like a solid device though..
  16. other than auto focus there is no reason, then again the vast majority of pros manually focus anyway.
  17. I hear a lot of good things about the Audio-Technica AT4053b. If I needed an indoor shotgun mic that would be my pick. If money grew on trees - Sennheiser MKH 50 P48
  18. yes, while the Canon C line has DPAF its limited to just the center point iirc. This would put Sony way up front.
  19. I think they might keep them as even though FF is the future, s35 is still the most used for high end video. For some reason I feel sony wont have somthing to match the c500mkii unless the f5 gets updated
