@Yurolov Andrew has already posted about it on the main page.

All oversampled modes except the APS-C crop have a recording limit.

The only full sensor FF mode that doesn’t over heat is pixel binned. Which in my opinion makes the R5 a better buy over the R6.

I must be crazy but I don't see any mention of 24 or 25 in the chart?

How do we know that the only FF sensor mode that doesn't overheat is the pixel binned mode? I can't read that anywhere either.

They sure make it difficult to find the info.

  2. I mean the fact is no other mirrorless camera gives you full frame 8k, 4k 120p, 60p, or 8k oversampled 30p. The mere fact that you can use these settings is a great accomplishment, cause you can't use them with any other mirrorless. I'd rather have then as an option than not have them at all. I can shoot all day in standard 4k 30p mode and mix it in with some hfr modes if I want.

To all those saying, ye but it's not worth the price...well the market will decide what it is worth. Again you don't get any of these options in any other mirrorless. 8 stops, dual pixel, uncropped 4k, flippy screen, 10 bit internal, etc etc.

The constant moaning and complaining is unnecessary. Just compare this to the way the xt4 was treated. Apparently that camera is perfect despite having crap ibis where you can't pan and unreliable autofocus (people had to turn to YouTube and Philip bloom for that info).

So it overheats in certain modes. Don't worry, you will be fine, it's not the end of the world.

I had 2 BMP6K's wet the bed and ruin a shoot over multiple days.

I'll take short record times any day over ruined  color.  And the crazy thing is Black Magic is still selling the P4k and P6K as is.

Nothing wrong with bmpcc. The IQ and color shits all over these Japanese cameras. If you are doing narrative there is nothing better for the price. That's why they sold a ton of them and there is such a great filmmaking community behind them where the camera is celebrated even though it has its foibles because people find creative ways of overcoming the short comings. People are just grateful that they have a cinema camera for next to nothing and can do their art. Here we complain about overheating 8k raw which we all knew would happen.

My "previous gen" X-T3 shoots 400mbit h265 all-i  10 bit in 23.98 so I am quite surprised in what Canon did here. This is heavy handed to say the least . the r6 does not make sense for cinematography as it stands. They could have easily given it the 23.98 All i treatment . You are of course right in saying that " true 24p and ALL-I being more desirable for filmmakers especially as ALL-I has fewer motion artefacts"..

I would have loved the Canon AF but this makes it a no go...

Your xt3 was 4:2:0. The difference between all-i and ipb is a spec sheet analysis in most cases.

The S1H second hand is a lot cheaper than this, you'll find them for 2700 USD or so.

It has an internal fan, all anamorphic modes you could think of, VLOG. External recording for boosted settings, but plenty of good internal ones including a 6K mode for big plates. Excellent colour and DR, it's wonderfully usable.

The only down sides are shit autofocus and the battery life could be better. The stills are amazing too.

It doesn't yet have raw recording because something is up behind the scenes, but it's designed to work as a pro camera, and is the model of how a hybrid camera should work, for me.

If you want a balanced hybrid for professional use, it's the best all-round choice right now. If you want raw for cine-style use with a bigrig, there's the Sigma FP which is phenomenally specced.

The new Canons look like more of the usual "we can't make this too good or no-one will buy our camcorders" rubbish from Canon. Same old same old, looks great on paper before it's released (cue ridiculous YouTuber wide mouth wide eye infantile thumbnails) and turns out to be hobbled in order to make you buy a more expensive model.

They want you to buy a C300 MK iii. It's where all their great new tech is, including their own version of the Arri dual-gain architecture.,

    Fuck em.

Thats not cheaper than the r6.

The r6 has much better stills capabilities, better and more varied native lens options, full frame 60p...oh and fantastic autofocus. Clog has great color and plenty of DR if you know what you are doing.

There is a reason panasonic cameras aren't selling well. s1h is a niche product and certainly not a hybrid shooter.

The sigma fp doesnt even have internal log and requires an external recorder just to get a useable recording option. They didn't fully think that one through.

You said that Sony won't release anything better than the R6, which is a really dumb thing to say given we know virtually nothing about the A7sIII. And you're acting like the S1H and the Z-Cams haven't been out for months.

Not being blown away by these cameras, one of which seems to have serious problems pre-release, doesn't mean I have an ax to grind, it means I have common sense. But go off, man.

You really have issues reading, don't you? I said that the Sony won't beat it for the PRICE. No way the A7sIII is in the range of $2,500.00. It also won't beat it in terms of IBIS performance.

I repeat the xt4 example where Andrew was gushing over that camera despite the crap ibis and autofocus. Yet here we are with a far more capable camera in the r6 and - crickets. Instead everyone is talking about overheating on a camera that people shouldn't get and is irrelevant for most.

You were gushing like a fan boy and talking out of your ass, I'm not sure what you expected. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sony doesn't need to match the R5. If they can put out a camera that doesn't overheat and is reliable then they've already beaten Canon, specs be damned. It's not a high bar, regardless of what your fandom tells you.

Nice reading comprehension buddy lol. I clearly said the r6. I could care less about the r5. People that want to bash the r5 just have an axe to grind like you.

The r6 is everything we have been asking for and beats every camera out there and yet crickets. Destroys the xt4 in nearly every respect and I remember what kind of audience that camera got on this site lol. You're a joker mate.

  8. The REAL story is that the r6 is the camera to get. That alone beats the s1h for the PRICE.

10 bit interal, 60p, Log, ibis and DPAF. End of story.  This overheating issue is a distraction as the people who are spending that much money on an R5 will know what they are getting into. If you are shooting 8k raw or 4k 120p for interviews, god help you. The r5 was never going to be the camera for you. But if you are just shooting clips and stock footage travelling it will be fine.

You can wait for the Sony but it will not beat the r6 on PRICE, nor will it touch the r6 in the IBIS department - which judging by the footage is immense and Olympus level.

But I get that it is very easy to poo poo canon. Neumann is right, they should be celebrated for what we have been given.

  9. Kai isn't a real reviewer. It's all fluff. This guy actually is the best for what he is, which is discussing vlog equipment. He never purports to be anything more. But the crossover comes if you are interested in a cameras ability to autofocus and stabilise. He has the best reviews in that regard with the most comparisons. Things like autofocus and ibis need a long format review, multiple reviews in fact, to discuss and show the cameras abilities. No one else takes the time to do that or show that.

  10. The state of the industry is shocking. The shilling is flagrant and constant. Sony is really bad at it with all the cretins they enlist on YouTube. It's become so bad that the best, and most unbiased, reviews come from a meme channel started as a joke about finding the perfect camera. He actually gives in-depth tests and comparisons.

Just look at the 1dx and the rolling shutter issue and how that was ignored. And some companies like Fuji get a pass on poor autofocus and ibis. Just does not look good and people should be made aware of it.

  11. It's a nice update but most of the criticism still stands. The camera has so much potential because of its size. Putting a monitor on defeats the purpose. So not being able to do Log seems like a missed opportunity to me, along with the lack of internal codec.

I do hope they come out with a mark II.

My god, Panasonic outdone themselves on this one. Was really interested in this camera - the attention to the audio part could make it a perfect concert recording camera.

    But what they presented:

    - As it offers V-Log, expected that the 1,26x crop of the GX9 was not present. Nah, there it is.
    - To put even more shit over the top of the cake, the camera have no IBIS, instead uses EIS, with ADDITIONAL 4k crops, as bad as 1,76x with the best IS mode.

    - Horrible ergos, buttons scattered on top of the camera, cheap move of not offering a rear dial;

    - 10 min 4k limit;

Honorable only mentions, a very bright and hig res LCD, and a big EVF (Dpreview says it is field sequential, others said that not - but even Dpreview, that hates field sequential, said that tearing was not an issue). The positional audio looks clever too, but the mic opening does not look good for teh capsules quality.

Incompetence is what will kill m4/3. Management blindness (almost always underdelivering, the opposite of Fuji, for example), technical stubborness (Olympus: the insane menus, ages to make spot metering coupled with AF point, no option to have camera level AND histogram in the same screen, Mysets confusion, two buttons to engage peaking AND enlarged view / Panasonic: ages to adopt IBIS, idiot crops in smaller cameras, mic inputs in few cameras, field sequential EVFs, crippling record times, bad dials in smaller cameras, mics getting worse, refuse to let DFD go), and not listening to their customers.

Contrast this attitude with smaller Chinese companies like z-cam who have a ceo answering questions on Facebook and improving their cameras based on user suggestions. No usb-c just goes to show how slow and outdated some of these Japanese companies are.
