I don't know, but as much as any of those Canon bodies are you could buy a Canon C100 for the video part of it.. And you can take great pictures with just about any camera made in the last five years.
My Favorite would be the Canon 1DC, but it is a data hog in 4k for a lot of what you want. The mkIV has just too much of a crop in 4k for me to swallow. The mkIII is great for the Magic Lateran hack, but a little soft in 1080p.
Some might think the Canons are a "downgrade" to the NX1 LoL. Hmm interesting.. Killer video, 28mp stills, great body layout, great lenses.....
Yeah, get a C100 with the DPAF and be done with it. Now if you want stealth well maybe not, but I would argue none of the above Canon DSLR's are very stealthy either. Buy a Sony RX100 mk V if you want stealth.

Here's the manual for the camera.  Good to have on hand when you first get it.  I just use a 128 gigabyte card in mine.  And as for the 30 vs. 18 megapixels, yeah, I'm sure the 5d4 is more than capable.  But, I was waiting for the 5d4 to come out to replace my 5d3 and when I saw the actual specs I said screw that.  It wasn't the crop factor, it was the fact they couldn't put 60p 4k in the thing.  Most people don't spend three grand on a camera, more for the 5d4.  I make a living mainly taking pictures, not video, but, the writing is on the wall, video is the future and if I was going to spend over three grand for a camera, I wanted one that would last for at least three years.  So, I bought a used 1dc, no 60 4k, but I can live without that for a couple of years, maybe get a gh5 later in the year if I really need it.  Bottom line is Canon didn't really make any money off me this upgrade path and for what it's worth, the 1dc for the price used is a piece of kit that I can see using for more than three years, I'll probably keep it until it dies.  Bit of a rant, but hey Canon, for the people who do spend the money on new gear, give us our money's worth!

I signed the petition about a year ago.
I am happy to hear they got a response from Samsung.
My question is would you guys be willing to trust Samsung again after leaving us hanging like this? and if not what kind of commitment would be needed from Samsung for you to trust them.

For me, I would need to see a 2-3 year lens release roadmap schedule similar to what Sony did. It's not that I need a lot of lenses I just need to know they are committed to developing the line and that an NX3 would follow after the NX2.

Actually, who am I kidding I like my NX1 so much I would probably buy an NX2 no matter what lol. I can only imagine if they made the NX2 today it would probably have some ridiculous specs like 4k 120p and 1080 @ 480

Shot this throw away footage about a month ago. at the time I was all into that Steve Yedlin post and talk about resolution and haliation (is that how you spell it?) Went on a tear looking for a some Tiffen filters from my NX "S" Lenses average price was $100+ for a pro mist black. I scoured until I found a Pro-Mist 3 for $18 on amazon.
I was walking past a classic repair shop and found these subjects...  I put mega film grain on it trying to match that Yedlin look.

"It's now 2017 and the NX system is still alive and going strong. In some cases, the NX cameras still offer technology still missing from other manufactures to date. Think about how impressive this is? That's how ahead of the curve you were."
    Very true!
The technology was an incredible achievement. If they wanted to just do an NX2, an update, I am sure they could swing the factories back into action.
Problem is, they have to justify the business plan to the Samsung board and CEO, who has his eyes on sales numbering in the millions.
I hope Samsung can see the advantage of doing a smaller scale brand prestige project with the NX2, ahead of a full frame camera launch in the future that grabs a big chunk of the market.

Hey, someone put some effort into creating a petition for keeping NX line alive.
He even got an answer from Samsung Korea Ceo in which was requested for a better number of people to sign the petition. BUt overall the feedback was positive. If we can show Samsung that we are many, if we all stay together, maybe we'll have a chance if not for a NX2 at least for some new updates for NX1.
Let's take a bit of time and sign the petition. It only takes 2 min.
    Thanks

Nicholson Ruiz reacted to Juxx989 in NX-1 320mbps RAW-ish video?
I spent a while reading and watching that Steve Yedlin Argument this inspired me to this experiment
So I was just messing around the other day and decided to shoot 1080p on my NX1 and found myself  Fiddling with the bitrate hack which I usually leave on 140-160 mbps
Was curious so I started messing with the bit rates and typed in 400mbps and got denied kept dropping down in increments of 10 until it allowed 320mbps
I took it out shooting and the camera didn't skip a beat with audio + Autofocus with both S lenses. was shooting for around 40min and the only thing I could tell was when you pulled the SD card out right after shooting it was a bit a little warm.
I also Shot some 120fps @320mbps and it would only go about 30 sec before failing... I dropped it down to 300mbps and it recorded continuously I just stopped it after 3 min...

Perhaps its wishful thinking but I do "feel" the image is somewhat "thicker" is this basically like shooting 4k 160 and outputting to 1080 and rez up  4k again?

First shot is the "Raw" File
Second shot is a Grade I was trying to make match/cut with this frame. ( I failed the shot is much more blue than mine)

Third shot is 120fps @320mbps played back @ 20% speed

I uploaded the bike shot Raw out of camera if you wish to mess with it. I have no pro scopes or calibrated monitor to see is there is any advantage to this let me know your thoughts and or findings (about 160mb)

On a slightly different note, I've found that exposing correctly on the NX1 is all down to looking at the colors on the onboard OLED. Even one stop over exposed, and the colors will look washed out. One step under, and they look muddy. It's surprising how quick colors shift around on that OLED, it really shows what's going on once you acclimate to it. Don't worry about the low end, the screen seems to certainly crush the blacks and not show the shadows, but when the files hit the computer, the information is there. I'd say there's a stop of light on the low end that you don't see, maybe even a stop and a half depending on your picture profile and pedestal setting.

@Nicholson Ruiz I would not over think about matching perfectly two different cameras. When you are making musicvideo I would use it as an tool. Even make it more clear that those are really different looking cameras.
And talking about different looks.. in my opinnion the biggest problem in video is too much same size&looking images through the video. There is no closeups, no extreme close ups, really wide angle, crazy camera angles and so on... I would move and search much more interesting angles. That way you keep people much more hooked for the video. If it just same kind of shots with same framing it gets very boring quickly.

Overall I'd say you did a great job and because of the different locations the different looks aren't really a problem. Although the samsung is very obviously more detailed, I think to compensate you can add a little more contrast with a nice S curve and then play with sharpening (basic tool or an unsharp mask).
OR you could go the other route and make the samsung footage a little less clear by adding a tiny amount of blur or lifting the blacks. Since you've got the "vintage" vibe going on, I'd probably do it this way.
Btw, pretty cool song. Like the guitar/rap combo.

@Nicholson Ruiz Hey Nicholson! I like the flow of your video and the three settings. I wouldnt worry about matching the looks as they occur
on the three different locations. Only thing, if nitpicking, a very few changes/cuts between locations seem not hundred percent perfect, maybe due
to a free and flowing approach. Very nice video, locations, talent in front of the camera, nothing to worry about matching the two cams, I must say.
By the way, this video of yours looks awesome. Red Epic, anybody?

What's up folks?! It was tough matching the color of the RX10 and the NX1. Moreover, locking the exposure on the NX1 was another headache. Still learning and feedback would be greatly appreciated and thanks Ricardo Sousa for the Luts (Aspen was used).
