  1. But how about journalism then? How can you investigate something and see unaltered people reaction? Cos if you tell a person he is being filmed he will behave completely in a different way than when he doesn't know that.

Anyway in our country nobody gives two shits about human rights so its not a big deal you should worry about.

Considering Youtube policies (and this is going on youtube) - its clear. If someone (if!) will report that he was recorded without his consent Youtube may (!) ask you to blur his head out or remove the video. That's it.

(although the reasoning of this would be awesome if it was shared as to why...)

Cos its a hidden camera recording. I cannot put a mic on a person who doesnt know he is being recorded, obviously.

The whole project is a form of a social experiment.

Right now I am thinking about getting a Zoom F1 or Tascam DR 10L as a somewhat affordable recorder. Thought I am not sure how much exactly it will boost the quality over a phone + lav mic and if it worth the investment. We shall see.

Tascam is nice because you can boost gain and use a secondary -12\-6 db track to get the most out of someones quite voice + better battery live + more portable

Zoom on the other hand can be used with any other zoom microphone add-ons and I happen to have at least one.  Plus better screen I guess.

Not sure which root to go yet.

About sync - it would be nice to have but not necessary as I figured out a way to do it manually.

  3. I have a project where I need to record conversations with people using a hidden camera. The conversation most of the time involve two people in the midst of a crowded city, so there is plenty of a background noise. Right now I am using a lav mic connected to a phone which is defiantly not the best solution. I tried sokani wireless system, but again its a lav mic but most importantly the signal is not stable, it cuts often cos of the abundance of other radio signals in the area. So rode wireless go wont work as well. Lav mic with phone gives very mediocre results. You can hear a person wearing it, but other person sometimes is hard to hear.

So which setup would you recommend? I need something portable as well, so a person can hide main recording unit and microphone somewhere. Right now, an interviewer is a girl and she snaps a lav mic to her bag, like a fluffy toy and nobody notices cos it looks like something natural. So I can hang a bigger fluffy toy, by which I mean a deadcat with a bigger mic on her bag, but I need to know what king of mic to use. Shotgun is not a great idea, cos you need to direct it to a talking person. This one she cannot direct, just choose and keep her distance.

  4. I have very nice and compact RGB lights Vijim VL-2, but I really want to make some sort of diffusion add-on.

    Kind of like those: https://aliexpress.ru/item/4000327099448.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.4dae3c00eDBBlw&mp=1&_ga=2.141667378.1643993496.1592316009-563455226.1581321775

But with deeper pocket for white diffusion. Those in the link above dont fit my light anyway. So the idea is to model them myself and 3d-print. I just need to know the right material to do it. Any idea on which one to use?

  5. Another pretty cool and similar speced sensor - Sony IMX700. Same 50/12.5 mpx and even bigger sensor size at 1/1.28 incn. And this one should be avaliable to a broader audience thanks to Sony market share in sensor department.

You can see one inside Huawei P40 already.

  6. Now what I really want is for someone to put this puppy in a compact gimbal a-la Osmo Pocket. In a perfect world they would also concoct a build-in ND filter and a Zoom lens like 16-35mm. It doesn't need to be exactly pocket, I am OK with it beeing 2-3 times the size of Osmo pocket, but that would be my dream all around go everywhere hassle free small gimbal.

  7. It's not bright at all in RGB mode and huge in footprint. Do not recommend.

I went with Vijim V-2 which is 50$ on Ali, 200 gramm, compact, has 3 hour fast charge battery inside, various effects and freakishly bright for its size. And yeah, you can stick it to metal as it has a magnet back. I do recommend this one :)

    Does video has multi-exposure blending?

Lacks to see if it will be as autonomous as last Skydio and Autel's introductions...

It doesn't have sensors all around so not technically possible

  9. EIS is not accessible by 3rd party apps on Xiaomi phones. Which means a very shaky image even on a gimbal in FilmiPro or any other app where you want log, unsharpening, 24p, etc..

Just keep this in mind before buying any android phone for that purpose.

You need to check every phone thoroughly for compatibility with Filmic Pro.

Nice thanks, The 85mm is anything but compact, I understand why, but though maybe they'd keep a similar size for the other lenses. I feel like Sigma tend to do that.

85 was made for FF originally they just swapped the mount. Those lenses on the other hand are build for APC-S from the start.
