  1. I want to buy a relatively compact motorized slider that could be used for macro shots. Right now my eyes are on Moza Slypod e, which seems like a very good device in that regard - slick, compact, relatively light, but I am not sure how smooth it will be in a macro environment. Does anybody know?

  2. I just sold my Oly 75 1.8 and Pany 25 1.4 being left with Sigma 18-35 and Pana 14-140 zoom only. But today I have ordered Tamron 60 2.0 Macro which I am gonna use on my speedbooster to get 40mm 1.4 equivalent (in m43 terms) for cheap.. and with 1:1 macro capabilities. I've got it for like 144$ so at that price point I was interested to get a portrait and macro all-in-one lens for my current setup. I don't want to invest into m43 lenses at all atm, cos the future of the system very unclear.

  3. Panasonic could actually make a really good and successful camera right now, both in the face of GH6 and a new L-mount offering. Just add PDAF sensor and 4k120p 10 bit to both of them. They have everything else - proper cooling , ergo, IBIS and etc. They just need adequate frame-rates and PDAF. That's is. Canon bombed heavily with R5\R6, Sony is the only player but even their camera overheats.

  4. Sigma is building up accesible L-mount lenses slowly but surely. The main problem with l-mount imo - absence of competitive AF. I dont want to invest in the system that doesn't have it.

  5. Am I the only one who got buffled by a A7S3 US vs Europe price tag difference? Its 3500 vs 5000$ if we do the conversion, a 43% difference! Are they out of their fuckin minds? Yes, I know that the US price doesn't inculde taxes, but they are not even remotly close to 43%.

  6. A7S3 is actually 4200€ in all of the world except USA which translates into 5000$ - a prohibitive amount of money. So yeah, 1500$ for those specs with working AF would be an instant buy from me. And this AF better be working with speesboosted canon lenses.

  7. Why there is no heatsink in the first place is a huge clusterfuckup by itself. NO HEATSINK! Who did design that camera?! I can understand Sony, who put in the effort to mitigate overheating - efficient heatsink, 12 mp sensor, etc. They could not make the camera bigger and put a fan, cos of their philosphy OK, thats not perfect. But I dont see any excuse for Canon.

  8. Gerald review is the best right now. I think Sony made all in all a pretty dope camera. IBIS is my only complain but I have a gimbal anyway. I like probably everything about it - DR, Lowlight and double-gain ISO, AF and ability to customize it for the exact focus pull you need, new menus finally, flip-out screen, recording modes and options,  4k quality and etc. I don't see any alternatives for this camera right now. Time to save up money.

What all this overheating going on, people tend to look over the fact that the footage and the IBIS actually looks really good. ISO is a noticeable improvement, too.

The rolling shutter is not great (as expected).

If you want longer recording times, you probably want the R5 over the R6.

The only real review so far. R6 recorded almost half an hour before overheating in 4k50. ISO was quite fine. DR seemed OK. RS is not good but not dreadful too. Want to see more thorough tests ofc.

Smartphone can process the same amount of pixels (8K) and encode to same codec for $700

    Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro

Yeah, but it has a tiny sensor. Its all about dissipating heat generated from a sensor plus the processor and not the processor alone. Thats why GH5 could do it for such a long time as well. Ratio of camera size to a sensor. And thats why S1H can do it.

  11. Personally for me I hate Sony mirrorless estetics - ergonomics, ancient menus, overall design, using same bodies for almost 10 years, etc. They only improve sensors cos they build them as well. And those sensors are awesome - there is no doubt in that. But I might still go Canon R6 route cos its a ergonomically better camera with awesome IBIS (probably, we need to see some actual tests) and I do like how RF lenses are shaping up. Panasonic is another awesome camera company with their ongoing AF problem, sadly.

What a joke if true. 12mpx sensor and no quad bayer?
I guess we will find out soon.

if that’s the case they will loose tons of customers starting with me. A lot of people want a do it all camera for photo and video. 12mpx is not enough, so people will take the R5 or R6.

You can always get a second body of A73 or a73r or a74r - or you might already have one if you are a Sony shooter. Sony cameras are ligth and compact. For me it doesnt sound like a big problem. I hate fiddling taking off ND filters from my video camera anyway. Ofc, even 12\48 mp Bayer sensor would be better.

I still might go with R6 cos of the IBIS. Sony IBIS is crap for video. Doubt they will substantially improve it.  But if Sony manages to stick in built-in NDs.. than it will be a hard choice.
