Well that's it, deal done; S5 and S1H being 'traded' for a pair of S5ii's. MPB collecting tomorrow, new boys on pre-order...
I would have preferred a pair of S5iix's, purely for their look (don't need their spec, - anything over 200mbs not required) but as they are not available until end of May/early June and my next season starts end of March...
I'm going to miss my S1H for sure, but this is going to be a better pairing for my video needs being:
    A. Identical bodies.
    B. Both having a built in fan rather than just the S1H (though the S5 never overheated a single time).
    C. The AF of course for which I have a need, especially with regard to shooting log because shooting that only made the AF worse with previous Lumix cameras.
    D. No 30 minute time limit as with the S5 which was a pain.
Body A will be paired with the Sigma 16-28mm f2.8 and Body B with the Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 and that's happy days for the forseeable future. My only wish would have been the tilt screen of the S1H (or even the S1/S1R) but that is the ONLY compromise with this camera for me. For my video needs anyway...
For stills, sticking with my trusty S1R's for the time being. I had already sold off my f2 Sigma primes. Loved them, but going forward, really wanted something a bit faster for the low light stuff so bought 3x f1.4's, the; 20, 35 and 85.
I'm in no rush to replace them and had considered a complete S5ii lineup, but I reckon either Panasonic or Leica will come out with something maybe for next year that will update the S1R significantly enough for me to replace them.
The ideal now would be an S5iiR model, but an S2R or something Leica flavoured would do it.
On the other hand, I might just trade the pair of them for a third S5ii body as a 3 body set up rather than a 4 works better...except during wedding ceremonies and speeches unless I switch to a 3x zoom set up for those times.
We'll see but glad I stuck with Lumix after considering; OM-1, XH2/S and even a wholesale switch to Sony.
Faith restored in Lumix/L Mount. Hadn't really lost it as such but I had a concern that they might just blow it and not go phase detect but realistically, that would have been suicide for them.

Personally I’m not bothered about high frame rates. I’m all about ergonomics, image and reliability. The GH6’s LCD is a much better design giving much more flexibility.

I think the only thing really missing is the GH6's LCD. I wish they had put that on the X version.
I've never managed to get my S5 to overheat. I've left it for an hour in the sun (35 degrees more or less) filming a long wedding ceremony (1 hour) in 4K and it was fine. I'd imagine that the S5 mk2 will never ever overheat.

I must say... I do really love this camera. Disclaimer being Panasonic is loaning me the camera and lenses and paid for an entire Tokyo trip.
I'm trying to be as objective as possible, but the AF performance has been surprisingly good. I love the IBIS and the color science is great. It doesn't feel as premium as my OM-1 or even an R5... but this isn't in that price bracket. The fact that this camera is this good, all while being under $2k is actually a big deal.
Makes me excited for an S2H... or other flagships. I still love micro 4/3 and think the 10-25 panny/leica is one of the best lenses ever. I can't wait for a GH version of this camera with phase detect!

Unfortunately the S5 IIX only does 1080 ProRes internal recordings. I hope they add 2K ProRes as well! Because that's a very common resolution with ProRes. And SD cards can handle 2K. (and the SD cards is why it doesn't have 4K ProRes, and records to an external USB drive instead)

Personally I think the Panasonics are some of the best looking cameras out there but it’s not important.
What’s important for me is that the evf and the af are top notch and that the af works flawlessly with Sigma lenses as well. I’ll even forgive a 4k 50p crop if they’ve got the rest right.

    So lets see..
    1. Big bright focking screen 4.5-5 inches. Yes, we want that, we need that. If you are making a cinema camera in your S-line it should have that. With a reworked menu and proper monitoring tools.
    2. Ability to add gyro stabilization in post. Panny already have e-stab that works on top of their awesome Active IS. So why not give us an OFX plug-in that works in every editing sofware and brings stabilisation to the next level.. again!
    3. Some proper video specs. FF6k60p should be a minimum high frame rate option I would think. 8k? Maybe but not really that important. 4k120p should be there as well.
    4. RAW is imminent I guess just wish they would add BRAW. Not really holding my fingers for that but one can dream right?
I dont even know what else would I need. Some top tier DR probably cutting into Alexa territory.

The other big problem for Panasonic is there no upwards path to progress with the L Mount.
Desperately there is an EVA2 with an L Mount that is needed! (so very sad that a EVA1 MFT never happened 😕 )

Seems the cinema camera division at Panasonic has been gutted, so I guess an EVA2 (of any sorts) won't be happening?
If a future EVA1 sequel will never happen, and the LUMIX team have to step up to the plate, then perhaps a "Panasonic BS2H" is what is needed?? (an updated BS1H!)
Apparently the boss of the cinema division now works in the LUMIX division, and I'd say that is very very very good news indeed! Gives me hope for a future "Panasonic BS2H"
This BS2H could have dual SDI outputs (with zero delay, and independent), plus internal NDs, and that would make everyone very very happy. (plus of course keep everything good about the BS1H, and bring over all the goodness of the S5mk2)

The 2x mode on the Gh5 is a 2.5K image, half of the horizontal pixel count btw. @kye is a fan of this mode, as I am too. My tiny GX85 also has it! I wished the S line had the same or more flexibility with crop modes and ratios. Gh5 was pretty sweet in that regard. Gh6 lost the 1.4x Super16 mode on the other hand, which the Gh5 had. 4to3 S16 with full Super16 gate width or 1 to 1.66? Yes, please!:) Now, Panny, give us a Gx85 with 10bit. 599, yes please! Instant buy.

Trying to find a flaw in trading my: S1H, S5 and pair of S1R’s for 3x S5ii’s…
    A. Would have preferred a tilt screen but it’s not a dealbreaker.
    B. Will I miss not having 47mp stills? Probably not…
    C. Other than the stealthy black aesthetic, does the X model (not available until May and too late for me for this year anyway) have anything over the standard model that I would want or need? Doesn’t appear so as I thought it might have a CF Express slot but the internal ProRes is limited to 1080. ‘Only’ 200 mbps (or is that mbs…but who cares) which is fine for me.
I’m away at the moment but I think 3x bodies plus 2x battery grips is going to suit me…
Already have: Sigma 16-28 and 28-70 f2.8 compact zooms for video plus; 20, 35 and 85 f1.4’s for stills.
I also have the f4 24-105 if I do need longer.
    I think it’s looking healthy for L Mount 👍

The killer IBIS is the feature of this camera that everyone will be chasing. Personally, I think e-mount will have technical limitations to match. After watching Gerald Undone, I'm guessing the AF will simply be good enough that no one will care anymore. Finally, l-mount is relatively open for all manufacturers to join... unlike the recent Canon bullshit... I see some people moving to l-mount soon. This camera is going to sell like gangbusters IMO.

So one of the youtubers shares the following rumors:
    S5mk2 - 2000$
    S5mk2X - 2200$ .. and it has 6k60 FF!
If that will appear to be true (only 5 more hours till we can verify that), I say we have a big win for Panasonic. 6k60p camera with PDAF, very good IBIS and all the Panasonic goodies for only 2200$ frankly sound very tempting.

    Sigma 16-28mm f2.8 = 450g
    Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 = 470g
These are my two video workhorses on FF now.
Hoping the rumored but expected 70-200mm f2.8 makes an appearance soon and my triumvirate will be complete.

I like the blatant confidenace with which you spit out such statements. No biggie. Righ now l-mount has the second biggest lens selection after e-mount (around 105 FF lenses) and its growing cos Panasonic and Sigma are working on it. And other manufactures can join the alliance and start making lenses for it as well if the ever want to (unlike say for Canon RF). Now they have DJI - a very intresting and innovative player in the market. Tha main problem for them is the absence of a reliable AF. If they can solve it (and we all hope they will pretty soon) its hard to predict the future of the system. If more players will join it (like BM, and maybe some chinese\korean manufactures like Youngnuo, Samyang) it might become very relevant at some point. Lets see what Panasonic finally brings out with a S5II lineup. Crossed fingers for PDAF with some fancy AI features.
Another imporant thing to understand is that both Sigma, Panasonic and DJI do have other profitable buisness so they can afford to invest into L-mount without an urge to make it profitable.

S5 with full HDMI, internal ND, zero (-1) option for sharpening like S1H and OPLF filter.
Or a S1H with internal ND but with SDI, since it´s already a biggie and the BS1H has it already.
Btw, my vote for Blackmagic on quality of videos posted on youtube in comparison to current Sony, Pana, Canon and Fuji videos. I enjoy my BM Micro more than my S1, which is far from being the perfect camera.
