I think the plastic protective dome might degrade image quality quite a bit by generating reflections and flares. I mean, if that's the best footage they have to show for... then I'm not all that into it (the girl running on the beach just looked washed out or something? The shot at 2:43 I would never have included. There's like washed out bits and purple).
What the hell is going on here??

Surely they can not strap a big camera to it, given it's compact size, so I think there's some consessions going on. If like the video shows, you're hiking about and absolutely don't want to be weighed down... want something that is aware of its surroundings and have a high level of automization... this is the one to get. However... I think that if I were to get one, I'd more lean towards the Karma... I also think bigger and heavier platforms allow for a smoother flight. Will have to see how this pans out...
P.s. make sure to watch the official video in best quality here (4K VS 720p in the topic lead post).

@DaveAltizer chose the right word; slaughter comes to mind. Both are good options, the gopro comes with the hand stabilizer but the ease of use, size and sensors for not throwing the thing against a wall its going to make it a no brainer. Hell, It's the first time I'm thinking I could use a drone in weddings as a solo operator, hit, get the shot and run, go figure!

Looks excellent. And super compact size.  And Huge price difference between this and the GoPro. The GoPro is $800 for Drone Only (without camera).

By the time they release the GH5R who knows what the rest of the camera manufacturers would have presented. They should sell the GH5 without the nonsense penny pincher EU tax or cope up with it and let customers have it. At least sell the Vlog with the unlocking door as a light hack or whatever. I mean, phones don't have that limit, right?

Mic input. It's going to be a nice camera and I rather have 1080 50p than 4k 25p in case I need the slow motion, which is quite often. But that screen, that flip down freaking screen. Why can't we have tilty flippy screens everywhere?

Ah yes, good point. Too bad it doesn't have a mic input... the rx100 is a fantastic little cam.

70D and 80D are used for vlogging because they provide the excellent Canon Dual Pixel AF which is important for one-man shows, especially daily vlogs. Panasonic GX85, Olympus E-M5.2 provide better image quality and stabilization but do net get the AF-job done. The CDAF implementations are simply not reliable enough. You do not see the focus hunting in the small flip-out screen during recording. Of course there is obvious stuff, where the camera focusses on the background an is not willig to change but the problem are the small, nearly unnoticeable glitches, when the face tracking loses the face for a fraction of a second. Once back at the NLE you realize that it looks awful but today's episode needs to be pushed out ...
Vlogging is a growing business, pobably understimated by poeple that are not used to it. A lot of money is involved when the number of followers get over one million and while content is still king the quality level is quite high.

There is no sensor crop for both UHD and Cinema 4K unless you activate digital stabilisation in addition to 5-axis IS (8% crop).
Continuous AF will be available with the same features as for stills. You can vary the exposure while recording.

I'm going to have to defend the DSLR and mirrorless cameras big time...
ENG shoulder shooting is overrated. I personally don't want to lug around a big heavy camera with rails and a shoulder mount that can only be shot with in one position at one height. At least with a DSLR you have a choice whether you rig it up for ENG style shooting or something more minimal.
When you have 5 axis stabilisation and a body that weighs less than 1kg, it really isn't that hard
Indeed when you have an EVF (either built in or via loupe) you basically have the same shooting style as a Super 16mm camera and nobody is suggesting those aren't suitable for film work.
    Times change.
    The 18MP refers to 6000 x 3000 in 6K Photo Mode (the maths is 6000 * 3000 = 18 million pixels)
If the final sensor is in that aspect ratio I will eat my hat
There's no way it is going to be 18MP.
It will be in region of 24-28MP if it supports 6K res

    Step 2: Read that book.
Step 3: Practice what you learned, over and over again, at any chance you can.
Step 4: Go back to Step 2.

(somewhere early on this process you'll also get sucked into a nasty GAS cycle as well... just like with cameras! As you can see with my own personal sound gear list: http://ironfilm.co.nz/sound/ )

I shoot with the RX10II and don't have any regrets, it's one of my best gear decisions ever. It covers any M43 lenses in a compact powerzoom form over f4, so that makes most of them until now; has 5axis stabilization; gives Slog to match his bigger brothers in a vast different range of prices mostly well, not like Canon; can record to SD cards 4k footage, accepts the XLR-K2M adapter, can be hacked to remove the time limit and doesn't overheat. All in all I think it's Sony's best camera right now.
The only PITA is the lack of a touchscreen, and that's the reason the G80 or the OM-D E-M1 MKII are looking so interesting right now, but weddings pay my butter so I have time to hold my GAS and wait for what Sony presents at CES and see if finally they add a touchscreen to the a7 line. My only reason to go FF is that brides and grooms in Slovakia and Spain tend to dress in ugly as hell rooms and to be able to have background separation in full body and 3/4 portraits and videos is a godsend. For the rest M43 and 1 inch sensors are all love and bridges can cover 60% or even 70% of a shoot very well. My 2 cents of course.

The people who need a selfie screen for video are typically people who do a VLOG, so they have the camera on a tripod, stabilizer or handhold the camera on a gorillapod. For these uses the flippedy screen is unusable, so you can only utilize it to photograph yourself while holding the camera in your hand (where by now most people I know would still use a selfie-stick or gorillapod to get a better perspective).
I stand by what I said, I think it's a design flaw, might as well have stopped at 90° tilt.

Really curious about the electronic digital stabilization though and if it has the wobbles like WarpStabilizer or the DIS of NX1.

Having a camera nearby at a time when the light was interesting was cool enough, but when I'd framed the shot and set the exposure, and a bloke happened to cruise by on a snazzy motorbike...well, what more could you ask for. It's a form of hunting, and it triggers a primal drive.

Agreed, with so many cameras to choose for and even olympus entering 4k and rumors of better AF, Pana is getting less love. Onwards and upwards, 4k 60p, better low light, better AF, IBIS. If they don't do it, somebody will with a FF, APSC or M43 sensor will... Varicam is high end but doesn't mean that kind of stuff can trickle at some form down. And please, use the freaking grip to record backup.

If Panasomic pushes the boundaries with the GH5, it's because they have no other choice but to. They relinquished their #3 spot in mirrorless market share to Canon last year. They need to either be bold, or make microwaves.

Nice video, the XT-2 is shaping up as a similar, if not better deal than the a6300. Their lens selection is pretty sweet and is nice to see Fuji entering the fray with a great camera for both photo and video shooters. Now the only thing missing is a good IBIS as most of their lenses are not stabilized for video.

Yep, it could be the encoding but looks like a jerky 24p plus high frame rate. I can just describe it as smooth-screencapture-smooth-screencapture-smooth-screencapture.

Hello everyone! Few days ago I finished editing my last short timelapse video. I put a ton of work into this (shot last year, edited in 9 months, just because I couldn't focus on in completely). Edited in ACR and Premiere Pro. Opening title in AE.
Please read the video's description for camera info. Almost every shot is done in silent/electronic shutter mode, works like a charm for timelapses. I have some complaints about camera, I'll post it if anyone will be interested, but other than that, it is a great little tool!

Well, in Vegas 13, if you have a modern GPU from last 2 years or so, you have to disable it on rendering and use only CPU, or the software will freeze...

Ivanhurba got a reaction from Flynn in What would you like to see Nikon, Olympus, Fuji do to improve video?
I'm OK with 1080 50p, but I didn't went Oly due to their horrible oversharpened look even at minimum sharp settings. Their flat profile improved it on the OMD EM5II, but it was too late and limited to that model, they have to expand that to their other models. Now that Pana has IBIS on the GX80 I hope it spreads too to the GH5. On the M43 they need better low light performance. They're getting there, but just a little better noise and It will be great for me. If the EM1II gets dual card as rumored and by some miracle can record backup video to both (never seen on DSLR or mirrorless body) it will be a no brainer except if the GH5 gets it too.
My father rocks Fuji now and he loves it, just not the last one. Maybe IBIS and FJ-log to the card? The lenses are great, the rendering is beautiful and APSC size is perfect. It's nice to see them finally throwing a little love to us video freaks.
We gave up Nikon completely for a lot of reasons and just keep our Canon lenses for compatibility. I nearly went with the 80D but the image is too soft and I could see moire in a lot of examples. I can't go to the C100 line for price and size. I can fit three mirrorless with their lenses in a lowepro backpack and a C100 is just too tall, not even talking about Pana videocameras (I used for a while a HC-x1000 and it was just too big and cumbersome with the un-detachable handle)
And in Sony camp, I'm just happy with the RX10II for casual photos and videos as it does all well in all fields except battery life. Never had a problem with it, not like with the rest of their line up as @Cinegain said. Overheating is intolerable.
