  1. C'mon, it's just a fun version of all those beta tester videos. But not that entertaining anyway . I gotta say that dimmer demonstration is pretty awesome. It will be useful as the dual raw in the MKIV...
  2. This could be very well Canon's homerun for high-end productions they were expecting to have. Looks good and complete. Sure, out of our range, but it looks they didn't skimp on anything and it's priced accordingly.
  3. Nice video, the XT-2 is shaping up as a similar, if not better deal than the a6300. Their lens selection is pretty sweet and is nice to see Fuji entering the fray with a great camera for both photo and video shooters. Now the only thing missing is a good IBIS as most of their lenses are not stabilized for video.
  4. Yep, it could be the encoding but looks like a jerky 24p plus high frame rate. I can just describe it as smooth-screencapture-smooth-screencapture-smooth-screencapture.
  5. A couple of things we forgot, Canon announced they would rise their prices a couple of months ago. Now in half a year they'll be able to lower the price and entice those who fail to preorder or buy at full price. And it looks they still have to announce a kind of C100 MKIII. Pity there will be some hefty competition. Canon suit bean counters are going to lose terrain to maneuver this time. I rooted for Nikon but for some reason I don't feel the same for Canon even though I still carry a lot of their lenses and a MK II.
  6. LOL, give flat, take mic. Crash cam or high cam in a church. Not a bad idea.
  7. I'm OK with 1080 50p, but I didn't went Oly due to their horrible oversharpened look even at minimum sharp settings. Their flat profile improved it on the OMD EM5II, but it was too late and limited to that model, they have to expand that to their other models. Now that Pana has IBIS on the GX80 I hope it spreads too to the GH5. On the M43 they need better low light performance. They're getting there, but just a little better noise and It will be great for me. If the EM1II gets dual card as rumored and by some miracle can record backup video to both (never seen on DSLR or mirrorless body) it will be a no brainer except if the GH5 gets it too. My father rocks Fuji now and he loves it, just not the last one. Maybe IBIS and FJ-log to the card? The lenses are great, the rendering is beautiful and APSC size is perfect. It's nice to see them finally throwing a little love to us video freaks. We gave up Nikon completely for a lot of reasons and just keep our Canon lenses for compatibility. I nearly went with the 80D but the image is too soft and I could see moire in a lot of examples. I can't go to the C100 line for price and size. I can fit three mirrorless with their lenses in a lowepro backpack and a C100 is just too tall, not even talking about Pana videocameras (I used for a while a HC-x1000 and it was just too big and cumbersome with the un-detachable handle) And in Sony camp, I'm just happy with the RX10II for casual photos and videos as it does all well in all fields except battery life. Never had a problem with it, not like with the rest of their line up as @Cinegain said. Overheating is intolerable.
  8. That interview is pure gold! He sounds so humble and surprised on all of what happened after lights out. Really nice.
  9. Did anybody tested this? I have the same question but seeing it has already been asked with no answer it was worth the Up.
  10. I get drunk. Then I get upset to whoever the hell shoot this (me). Joking aside It's impossible to separate you from your footage; you shoot it, you know it for better or worst. But yes, like Policar said, go with whatever feels right for you and more emotionally near of what you want to tell. But first follow your script or plan because it's a question of tweaking until almost perfect. Also get the opinion from somebody you trust who will be impartial and sincere. And then get drunk on the edit bay.
  11. Check the links Zak, all point to this thread. The monitor looks like a perfect buy for this price, pity I don't see it in amazon Spain.
  12. This is a personal taste, of course. And not only that, it should be related to the mood of the piece, So here's my attempt at that, just some basic correction, boost on skin midtones, muting the rest of the colors and adjusting blues and greens slightly to the teal. All with Color Finale in FCPX.
  13. It happens to me too, all the time. I uploaded a clip to instagram about a tankfest in Trencianske Stankovce -Slovakia- And I realized after I uploaded that the logo disappeared half way in the video. I corrected it for the Youtube version but, damn, the first youtube version had twenty seconds of extra black which appeared from apparently nowhere so I had to repost it! I always feel that perfection is the worst enemy of good enough so I try to not overthink and upload stuff quickly, but it keeps biting my ass all the time. There has to be a way to make a screenshot appear before uploading screaming in capital bold DID YOU SEE THAT!!?? It's a fun test of the RX10II too. I wanted to record some clips and make some photos in raw to see if it could held on weddings and it did great. Stabilization at 200 was a little shaky, but it was handheld, so I didn't expect more. And for the color I tried to get that Kelly's heroes look. I loved it!
  14. It's like she mixed too many drugs with alcohol. The problem is that it looks like a drugged, drunk screenwriter. Think about it for a second. AIs are going to evolve, get more sophisticated and being less drugged and drunk until one day we may get a sober one. That is scary.
  15. I'm waiting for my GX80 but I'm sure that won't be the case in Europe. So either grey import or hack that won't happen.
  16. So much for having a backup body! This guy didn't enter this list, but his reputation made it with all honors https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_inventors_killed_by_their_own_inventions
  17. That was one hell of a happy dance!
  18. I know it may sound out of context here, but if you are really on a tight -and I mean tight- budget like I do, you could follow Curtis Judd's advice and use the Samson C02 for indoor audio. Please don't kill the messenger. :D
  19. We all need a little approval sometimes. @M Carter I can recommend you a couple of facebook groups being spammed to get a refill . I'm sure it's more work for the moderators, but it's so nice to have a clean forum.
  20. Sony had it's fare share or disappointments, failed proprietary standards and they hit low on 2012 , since then it looks they've been recovering little by little and trying to get a foot in the market by offering whatever we say in the forums... Slowly and by bleeding us with price, I agree, but at least they're now listening. I'm happy for them for the same reason like you, more players means less cake and more competition. The a7 line is not overhyped, the people were really surprised with the stuff they crammed up in those little bodies and the results in good hands speak for themselves. It's always has been about the hands, regardless of the manufacturer of the camera. I've been lately having the feeling that Sony is done with their sprint. They stepped into the game for another round, they got their name out there again with the a7 FF line dropping bodies like every other month and reached some kind of sales or status point they set as a milestone. Now that they have a fighting chance, they will slow down to concentrate on the other complains: Resurrect their alpha line for high end pros, fix the lack of lenses and grow from there. The good thing is now we have a great battle ahead; with another global economic slowdown, Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Olympus and even JVC will have to offer something significant in exchange for our money or we'll probably pass and wait or move somewhere else. Interesting times.
  21. I guess they'll get there eventually :D Right now they're offering features against quality, but it will get better, for example, s.gamut3 vs sgamut.
  22. Granted, it's just the last quarter, but it's a stark contrast to the ones Canon had. Really nice seen them nailing it. Specially the offset of compacts and camcorders with better results in high end cameras. I guess at some point the big two will have to take notice of the big fat elephant who just took the 'drink me' potion. http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/new-sony-financial-report-significant-operating-income-increase/
  23. The footage is beautiful and it really is a great camera. Clog missing it's an issue but you can never discard an update to the 1DC and I find the grading really nice with just a little post-oversharpening in the tools at the beginning but I'm really liking more and more the clinic sharp look as in Tron or Oblivion and this one has lot of that. If it's good for owning, or maybe renting something like the C300mkII it's a personal opinion now. We can't deny Canon's mojo! Like it was said, I'm just bitter with Canon because they're centering on the high end and letting me having the crumbs which forces me to move somewhere else. But I'll keep my lenses in case somebody hypnotizes their board and something like this enters my income range...
  24. Yes, I knew about their investments in 4k tv and I agree Canon is usually wise taking the slow path. 3d was burden by expensive TVs, cumbersome glasses that nobody wanted to wear, deals locking releases like avatar to buying a Panasonic product, bad 3d conversions, not a lot of 3d production -mostly because of costs- and a global recession. But Canon is letting slip between their fingers it's staple business. All the innovative products you quoted they're producing now are too segmented, too limited or too high end. The big seller of this year before the olympics is going to be the 80D but it just offers a very good focusing system that sometimes fails too and which probably will be replicated by the end of the year in the GH5 or the next Sony. No 5-axis, no EVF, no focus help for manual, no log, soft image. Canon has been outpaced (BSI sensors), outinnovated (not even a word, I know) like with the a7sII ISO 409,600 or outsmarted (42.2mp Sony sensor has more advantages like no aliasing and even better low light than their 50mp 5DS line) by actual products you can buy now. Canon is diversifying but it still is mostly a consumer company (blaming compacts and office show that) and consumers are slowly losing patience and moving away or directly disappearing (paperless offices, smartphones, social media storage). It won't go kaput and definitely it can bounce back if they start cannibalizing their lines, but I have a hard time imagining their management just doing that. Man, this discussion would be better on a bar with a cold beer in the hand.
  25. If compacts and P&S are such a big chuck of their sales that they partially blame their profit fall to them they should have innovated there. For non-pros and amateurs the marketing teams have hammered the need of 4k. And if the buyers are a very small group of pros looking for a second or third body then that same 4k, or log, or better low light, or better slow motion, would have fit the bill; they had plenty of options but they decided not to offer any of that to either soccer moms or pros and stagnate. I agree we'll have to wait and see how the rest of the year develops but the trend is quite clear in my opinion.
