@BTM_Pix awesome work! Exciting times. By your work and all the forum members' recommendation, my new(to me)  GX85 is coming to me next week! And happy father's day to all in the states!

So I've been playing with my new prodding device and....
    Its interesting.
What I did was record a clip of a colour chart from lets call it a well known brand of camera that is named after a primary colour and then put the same lens that was on that camera on to a GX85 and shot it again.
Both clips were recorded onto a Ninja Inferno.
What I was doing though was monitoring the recorded clip of the posh camera on the Ninja Inferno with the scope overlay on and then switching to the input to look at the GX85 and using the prodder to manipulate the parameters live and try and replicate the signature of the recording of the posh camera. I then tweaked a few things in FCPX to match a  bit closer with the purpose of then taking those changes back to put them in the profile of the GX85 to match it better straight out of the camera.
One of these images is the film log setting from the posh camera and the other one is the GX85.
There are definitely challenges regarding noise with doing this on the cheaper camera so its obvious which is which but I've got some ideas about that.
Tweaking the values and getting instant feedback was very productive and I think this may be the start of an interesting journey.

Thanks for all your efforts so far on the project.

And just to stress that the purpose of this particular prodder is to help develop colour profiles rather than being an end thing in itself, in case you thought I was advocating twiddling around like Kraftwerk while you're recording video.
Though having said that, I think that there is a place for a similar type of control surface (one with faders as well as pots and a few switches) to operate the cameras in terms of the rest of its functionality like shutter, iris and focus. In that way, the colour profile function could just be switched into a second layer and be permanently available.
Should also mention that you will be able to save a lot more than the one custom profile that Panasonic offers you with this system so once you have all of these parameters as you like them then you can save the whole snapshot for instant recall via buttons on the controller.
If this gets any traction you'll also be able to easily share them with each other too to load on to your own cameras.

The GH5 has the chunkiest 10bit files I've ever seen for $2000. Some of the lenses are even more of a bargain.

I want to share a short script I wrote in python that does focus ramping time lapses for Panasonic cameras. I believe this is doable in magic lantern for Canon users but I've yet to see an implementation for Panasonic. Here is a short technical preview:
Here is the python script I used to make this focus rack timelapse:

I'm sure that there are much more creative uses especially for shots with the majority of objects in the near-medium range.

    Grading System: DaVinci Resolve 12.5
    Location: Los Angeles, CA USA
    Camera: Samsung NX1
    Format: UHD H265
    Type: Short Film
    Duration: 7 minutes

Workflow: Much of this project was achieved with an arduous amount of time and energy spent in pre-production. Before production, I personally inquired and received helpful information from this very site. Camera and lighting choices were tested and nitpicked down to the finest minutiae. The compositing work was achieved in After Effects and had a final assembly within DaVinci Resolve. A lot of the latest features and FX within Resolve such as glows, etc. really elevated the overall look of the project.

    Yes
    And yes again.
Its for live interactive control of the profile, sharpness, noise reduction, saturation, hue and ISO to create new custom profiles.
Amazingly enough, it actually work as well!
Even more surprising is that it allows this while you are recording.

Am still working on my film and still loving the results. Here's a screengrab from my shoot yesterday. I just threw a LUT on there, to get it into Rec709. I'm sure the final look will be different and more refined...

However I do have a question for some of the ML Raw veterans out there... I tend to shoot a lot of silhouettes, and I am finding it tough exposing for them. The Raw histogram is telling me it is overexposed when the sun is in the shot, so when I close the Iris to get me some sun stars, even though it is still showing as over exposed, I am getting a crap ton of noise. I know @squig ends up with some dark footage, any ideas?
Also any new news in 3K/4K Raw?

I can't vouch for other manufacturers in the states, but I have bought multiple times from Canon USA, refurbished.
They look new, just in a different box. And they come with warranty. Other third party stores claiming "refurb" and a scam? Maybe.
At least refurb straight from Canon USA? I don't think it's a scam.

This is how some future archeologist will find me, with the loop of incremental parameter changes still merrily being fired at a Panasonic G7 in the background.

One of those where we don't like what we see on a histogram but we do like what we see in the actual image.
There's a moral in there somewhere...

I think you missunderstood. But its not important and I won't mention it again. Its just that whole scam has bothered me for years when I see blogs write about it and I needed to went
Buy what ever works. I will stick to mint condition used with warranty because its what we get here and its cheaper than any "refurbished" Ive ever seen.

I also have this manual and found a guy on dpreview who did this mod to the LX100. I really would like to do it and i can solder, but the mic out will always be a weak point and it is very questionable how good the quality will be without a dedicated mic-in.

Ok so I found a GX85 repair manual online and also found this http://www.instructables.com/id/Add-external-Mic-jack-for-Canon-T1i500d/
I found youtube videos for this hack with other cameras too.
I am very close to pulling the trigger for GX85 and I would like to try this.
Anyone crazy enough to try this? @jase ?
My soldering skills are very basic and I would probably have to practice a bit more before trying.
Also found this maniac who made his own battery grip!

It has lower resolution than the 28mm 2.8, which is due to its nature of having shorter focal length. Didnt put it to proper testing when it comes
to bright sunlight other "bad" light though. It is not a resolution monster for sure. You might wanna get the Tamron 20-40 2.7-3.5 for much cheaper.
It should be just as good on the wide end. If shot on APSC even better due to less vignetting compared to photo full frame format.

And in today's episode of "Fun With Lumix And Gaffer Tape" we have the new LCD display module which gives you a pro SLR style top panel info for your little GX80/G7 et al.
Well, pro style if Nikon and Canon used more gaffer tape in their production process that is.
