Yes. REALLY REALLY COOL!! I need to test 1080p 60fps too. Idk if it'll be the same. Should it be?

Thanks! I'm working for him full time. Every shot is filmed handheld with the ARRI except the wide orchestra ones which is shot on the GH5.

I wasn't aware of this camera...let me look it up!

Edit: just looked it up and I still think I'd rather give the G85 a go. Im just a cheapie when it comes to cameras as again this is strictly a hobby and I'm not making a living doing this. My manfrotto mini tripod stick thing comes today so I'll give that a go on the d5300 and see if it doesn't at least help the shake when shooting handheld. But none the less there are plenty of capable cameras out there so it seems!

Your link is to the plain adapter, not a speedbooster. A plain adapter simply mounts the lens to the camera at the correct distance from the sensor, and does nothing to change/compensate for the smaller sensor size. It has no optical elements, basically just a tube with your camera's mount on one end and the lens mount on the other. You can get decent plain adapters for much less than Metabones' versions, however... Fotodiox is decent and usually around $20.
The Ultra is the newest Metabones booster in the .71x strength. This will take the G85 sensor up to about the size of your Nikon (actually slightly larger in 1080p, and slightly smaller in 4K, but very close).
The first .71x Metabones booster is a little less sharp than the Ultra, and has a touch more vignetting and corner softness, but is still miles better than any of the imitators IMO. Better build, aperture ring, less flaring, etc. This is the version you can usually find used for around $250. Same power/magnification as the Ultra.
The XL .64x is a little bit stronger power/magnification, and will take your effective sensor size up to around APS-H (1.3x) crop. Which is great but at this point many lenses designed for APS-C (like possibly your Tamron) will vignette, as they aren't designed to cover that large of a sensor. So your best bet is to stay with one of the .71x models.

@Dustin just FYI if you go with the Nikon Speedbooster/Lens Turbo/Adapter be aware that you have to manually choose the focal length for IBIS to work since you don't have any electronic communication with the body.

@Dustin good deal. I would still go with the G85 if I were you. Wait a month and save the little extra. I have seen some new other G85 cameras go for less than $700. Plus the extra wait of the G85 will help a little with stabilization.
Also, make sure you get the version 2 of the Lens Turbo... supposedly it’s a lot better and they’re still pretty cheap at $150.
Also if you do consider going with native lenses, I’ve used the Olympus 17mm 1.8 and it is a damn nice lens. The manual focus clutch works well and makes it feel like a true manual focus lens. Supposedly, the 25mm is pretty good as well.

Okay, Metabones makes both a Canon and Nikon Speedbooster. Canon lenses need electronics to work the aperture. With modern Nikon lenses, known as Nikon G, the aperture can be controlled by a lever on the mount. So the Speedbooster only needs a ring that will turn to activate the lever. With Canon lenses there needs to be an electronic connection to work the adapter. Metabones is the only brand that makes an electronic Speedbooster for Canon. Well there may be another brand... aputure, but I don’t think it’s worth the cost... you may as well spend the little extra for Metabones or save a lot and go with the Lens Turbo.
If you are used to lenses with a decent focus ring, then you may not like most native micro 4/3 lenses, unless you go with Olympus or Voigtländer.

Dustin reacted to Inazuma in G85 my next step?
If you can afford it, get the Metabones Nikon G to Micro Four Thirds Speed Booster. If not, then get the cheaper Chinese knock offs. The Metabones is well worth the extra money though imo.

Cheapest way would be a simple ~$15 adapter, slightly more for an adapter with an aperture control ring/lever.
The difference in sensor size will give you the FOV of 34-100mm (FF equivalent), however, versus the lens being a 26-75mm equivalent on your D5300.
So really, with a simple adapter, it will be a very different lens on the G85 than on the Nikon. Really, you want to be using a speedbooster to adapt your Nikon stuff, as this will make the G85's sensor effectively the same size as your Nikon's, and your lenses will look/feel the same as they do now. The speedbooster also helps counteract the Panasonic's weaker ISO performance, as it makes the exposure one stop brighter, allowing you to use a lower ISO.
The Mitakon/Zhongyi Lens Turbo II is the only halfway decent affordable speedbooster in my experience, and even then I got a lot of flaring/hazing in bright sunlight. The Metabones is the gold standard and you can find the first generation used in Nikon-m4/3 for around $250 on eBay.
OM will not really adapt to Nikon unfortunately; there are adapters with optical elements but those are garbage. A quick google search is bringing up replacement rear mounts, though, so that might work. Really though, the Olympus is like a $50 lens, you can easily grab a Nikon 50mm to replace it for not a whole lot more than the replacement mount for the Olympus.
IBIS works fantastically with adapted/manual/non-OIS lenses. I was skeptical that it would really get the job done by itself, and was planning on getting some native OIS lenses so I could run Dual IS, but I haven't needed it at all, and am running all manual lenses.
The native lenses are nice for having AF, auto-exposure, etc for photos. The Olympus 45mm f1.8 is pretty amazing and very affordable, I've had two; and I've heard the Panasonic 25mm f1.7 is pretty great too. The only thing that really sucks about native glass is manual focusing, if you want to do any sort of semi-controlled/repeatable focus pull you need manual glass.

I bought two G85 bodies a few months ago. Very pleased with them. And I have owned and used Nikon d5xxx's, sony a6300, fuji xt2, samsung nx1, etc. The ergonomics are great and both the 1080p and 4k are sharp and have minimal artefacts like moire.

I got my G85 for about $550 (got an open-box kit for $800, sold the kit lens for $250), and it was worth every penny just to get IBIS. The slightly improved lowlight and colors over my GH4 were also nice bonuses.
By far the best value for money for video right now IMO.

Ahh well stated. I know it is easy to spend Your money LoL, but I think that will end up being a good upgrade, I think even a Panny G7, which I had, is a great camera for the money for video. The G85 is sort of a outgrowth of the G7 with better colors and IBIS. Nice upgrade. Jon on here, the Moderator, has done some really nice stuff using a G85. Now he is rich and using a GH5 LoL.
I am a big fan of Nikon colors but they are just too far behind on their cameras to use on a daily basis for Video use.
Here is a reason I mentioned the Panny G7. It is, and can be this good. I would still go the G85 route if you can, but if not a good option.

Trouble with the bargain stuff you sort of always find some excuse to Not go out and shoot either Photos or video. Ah It can't do that, oh it doesn't have that on and on.
A person needs to get a proven older camera, ergo a Panasonic GH4, a Canon 5D mkII, Panny G85, on and on that works and you have no excuse. You know it works so make it work LoL.
I know a person can shoot good video with about any cheap gear but why unless you just want to make your life harder, and it is hard enough to make good stuff with a Arri Alexa if you don't learn it, use it, figure out it strengths and weakness.

Just put in a low ball offer on eBay for one. If I get it I will consider that a win.

Will probably start saving up the Christmas money so I can purchase a good used g85 body/lens and somethinf like the lens turbo for the tamron. I don't need 10 Bit of the GH5 and it seems this camera is everything I need in a camera right now. STILL looking forward to the manfrotto grip

I have had one for awhile. I really like it. I can tell you though unless the newest ones have been updated there was a cheap ass "C clip" that holds the 1/4 tripod screw in that broke on mine. I was lucky it broke on my mattress!! And I am not the only one it happen to! I went down to Ace Hardware and got a Better one.
It is able to be put into your pocket if you shrink it down. Nice one use solution. Worth the price.

Thanks for the link man! I apologize for the confusing post but to clarify, I do already have a tripod and monopod, I'm just looking for an almost pocket rig or something small enough to fit in a camera bag that will take away some of the shakiness on my handheld. That tripod looked nice and lightweight though!
    Appreciate it!
@jonpais one more stupid question...it says it supports 2.2 lbs, would this one be more suited to my big tamron zoom? Or would the first one be just fine.

Thanks @jonpais. It's certainly the route I'd like to go. For the current term I was hoping that manfrotto might take some shakiness out of handheld if I kept it close to my body? i have a decent bento monopod but for handheld run n gun/family videos when I just wanna shoot it's not as ideal. Think this will do the trick in the near term?

As a D5300 (5200 a year before that) owner for the past 3 years, I agree. It produces a good image and is certainly a capable camera (depending on the context) but it does lack a lot of the cool refinements that have come up in recent years...stock flat profile, 120fps slo mo, and of course no luck on the video AF, at least for me. But it does have a nice look to it if your just shooting for YouTube, or basically anything where 1080p plus isn't required. I will likely upgrade in the next year to something else. I've been toying with swapping it for a d5500 (both about the same price used) just to try the stock flat profile against flaat 11 which I use. But even then...

If it matches the video of the A99, also has decent AF, and lets folk use their Nikon glass natively, that would be an decent option for those invested in Nikon glass.
On the other hand if they brought out a video oriented D750 upgrade, 24 MP full frame sensor down sampled to 4K (A9 style) for half the money, then you can keep the 40+ MP camera.
