  1. Works. It’ll keep you safe. But what happens when you decide to open the door and step outside... The “flatten the curve” approach has no obvious exit strategy.
  2. I was going to comment but not being American I’m not sure I’m allowed to...
  3. Sometimes it helps to comment on or discuss the content you introduce. Using the forum as a repository for videos which you have found (and, let’s be honest, others could find too) doesn’t develop a topic. Even providing something as simple as a justification of why you selected those particular videos would be interesting. Just my observation.
  4. American Express make quite a bit out of my cinematography and video work.
  5. The C200 is a camera I’ve always had an eye on and was thinking of getting one this year. But with the 1dx3, R5 (and rumoured R1 next year?) and now this (whatever “this” is) it’s less straightforward than I’d like. I’m attracted to the raw, AF, ergonomics, EF lenses & general usability of the C200. (Given I have a P4k which ticks the raw box, I’ll probably end up with an A7S3... a few extra € in my pocket and continued nightmares about ergonomics...)

If you are lucky enough to play with RED, Arri & C500 I think we should be asking you. Hawk-Woods might be one answer.
  7. Everything (and more) RED Hydrogen should and could have been. This will be a significant success although price & availability might have something to say on that...
  8. I’d use Canon camera straps if it would hurry along the A7S3...
  9. It’s an increasingly strange world we live in. Equality doesn’t mean every conceivable variation has to be represented in equal proportions in all events at all times... Generally the equality of opportunity is so much better now - by no means perfect but far far better than even a few years ago. And, in my view, it’s equality of opportunity which is the prize of a civilised society not the equality of outcome in one random event (and let’s be honest, such awards are hardly representative of the world - and it’s problems - as a whole).
  10. If I can’t get Telstar out of my head by the close of play I know where to find you... (well, I don’t, but I’ll endeavour to find out!) Edit: now I’ve started swaying to and fro...
  11. My primary interest is in filming the aurora borealis (along with a few promotional type bits’n’pieces I do for work - P4k is and should remain ideal for that). So the A7S3 was definitely top of the list for 2020. But... I might look at the 1dx3 if it’s low light capability (iso 25k sort of range) is satisfactory. The weather protected body and raw files appeal. And I’d possibly find an excuse for using the AF doing snowmobile/skiing sort of stuff. The price will be an issue. Once low light/high ISO footage from the Canon becomes available and, of course, assuming the A7S3 does indeed make it out of the shadows, then I will have a think...
  12. Sorry Julia, I don’t have time. I’m too busy writing the script for a 10 episode web comedy series in your other competition...
  13. Looks good. The move to the cloud, that is. Not that cat.
  14. It would be interesting to see what other cameras all these productions used (if any). Hard to get angles/crash cam sort of stuff. Or maybe at this level that isn’t an issue?
  15. Let’s keep it simple. You have 60s. So that’s 12 x 5s shots. No interviews - just 5s shots. You have to choose the 12 shots. It needs an introduction - so why not start at the town sign? What impression of your town do you want to convey? Is it peaceful and picturesque? Frantic? Modern or traditional architecture? Is the town best represented by day or night or both? It’s almost like sending 12 (moving) postcards. If you make the film and I watch it, what do you want me to think? Don’t try to shoot 12 perfect 5s shots in the field. Take extra and edit. But don’t take 30 mins of footage either as it’ll be too difficult to edit down. So do some forward planning - 12 “locations” (12 places to stick your tripod or stand or whatever). The time for thinking is over. Get out and do it. And post it here for us all to see. And ENJOY IT (or why bother...)
  16. Sony A7S. The high iso made filming the aurora borealis in real time a reality. Definitely my film highlight of the decade.
  17. The intellectual territory of the accomplished surgeon...
  18. Can we swop Advent calendars please? I got a steam train this morning.
  19. Choice. There really is something for everyone.
  20. Blind Spot gear are worth looking at.
  21. I don’t think any of my posts are clever enough to be misread for intelligence, artificial or otherwise.
  22. Other than stills is there any compelling reason to put this above the C200 on the Christmas list?
  23. The pogo pins on the back? The plan was to produce a module which added a much higher quality camera. Although there was an early photo of the unit, it was never revealed exactly what the module would be or do. In reality they didn’t do anything. Possibly an attachment to monitor Komodo?
  24. Given that he alludes to health issues, that comment is rather disingenuous? Not a surprise that Hydrogen is being terminated. The non-release of the modules and, crucially, the lack of other viewing devices was always going to be a problem. Komodo must be about the same price as the new Canon... different markets perhaps but comparisons are inevitable?
