The filmic look comes from dynamic range, but unfortunately not all cameras have enough to have that filmic look, therefore we raise the black levels to mimic that style. Its a stylistic choice, I dont like vibrant looks, to me, thats as vibrant as I would go. But I dont think its the cameras fault, its as versatile as any other camera.
This is a friends work, also with NX1 :
I think the NX1 has a much more pleasing look than any of the sonys for example, specially after trying my new a7sII, its very easy to have terrible skin tones.

This thread was created so we can all share our opinions on the lut pack, as some of you may know, these were created specifically to the NX1, however, I've made some tests on Sony Cine4, Nikon D800 and Canon 5D Mark 3 with very pleasant results.
The lut pack contains 9 different luts, ranging from color to black & white, stylized looks to achieve a filmic effect on the nx1 footage.

Feedback is very very important, this was created for the community, and I will follow all of your opinions in order to update the pack and deliver the best possible results! I hope you all have fun and like using them as much as I've had created them!

I just followed a friends advice, it seems to preserve better the highlights, but might be a placebo effect.
I have started to create the Lut pack, it will have between 10-15 luts, including color and black and white, and it should be available in the next week or so. Pricing will likely be between 15-20$, and should include a small "tutorial" on how to use them properly. Most of them will work nicely without any adjustment, one click edit, if you guys are using the settings I've been using for some months.

Its useable, but still quite slow, specially comparing against the 16-50s.
The Samsung NX1 is like a totally different camera when you use it with the 16-50s, I really cant stress this enough, this lens is stunning in every single department, and a must have for this camera. IF you want a cheaper option, check out the samsung 45mm f1.8 its also quite decent, however not as good.

I cant remember why I stopped using it, but I remember commenting something about it around here on the NX1 thread. 
I wouldnt recommend the DIS, it might be usefull for some occasions, but more often than not it would ruin the image.

Let me try and answer as much as possible here, since I have both the a7sII and NX1.
1. I dont think that problem is still alive, neither was alive when I bought the camera.
3. Autofocus is pretty good, unless its lowlight, it hunts quite a bit.
4. Depends on the framerate, 4k - 1600 / 1080p 60 - 800 / 1080p120 - 400.
5. No, however, the rolling shutter can easily be avoided, specially with the 16-50S lens.
6. Yes, it has Gamma DR, however, if you search on other threads, there are custom profiles that work really well.
8. I would say they are average.
9. No idea
10. The EVF and Screen is the best screen in any camera, the a7sII is terrible when compared to the NX1 both in the EVF and Screen.
 
Overall thoughts, The NX1 is still my favorite camera, the image is very very pleasing, and after you learn how to work with its image, is a very veyr strong camera, specially if you get it at a good price.

Regrading gamma DR (with .95 green channel and +5 mbl), I find myself using it again as of late. Something about it just works for my workflow. But I really enjoy Ricardo's settings as well. Been trying gamma DR with impulz luts for a more normal color look and then I use Ricardo's natural settings and vellichor luts for a stylized look.
Yeah, dis degrades image quality. At least if you're pixel peeping. Better off using warp stabilizer in premiere.

The really flat gamma settings can be harder to bring back contrast and beautiful color in post and don't really seem to increase dynamic range much over the tweaked standard profiles anyway, I don't know, most of us are probably using the above poster Ricardo's settings, because he clearly knows how to make that camera sing! 

I'd be very careful with DIS. The edges warp super easy and can ruin the footage. The only time I really use it is occasionally combined with the IS of the 16-50 S lens for some discreet handheld work, like if I'm filming in a store, somewhere without a permit, etc. Using it like that, it's rock-steady, just don't try panning like crazy with it, running around, etc. 

I can't read this thread and not get upset about Samsung throwing in the towel and not giving us the NX2.

Rolling shutter is very noticeable when you're using a non IS lens, like any camera, the little jitters will make everything look like jelly. Once you're using a stabilized lens (and may I say, its a very good lens stabilization), most of those issues dissapear.

I only shoot handheld, I dont even own a tripod, and never did, most of my struggle was to avoid rolling shutter on any of these new 4k cameras, but once you attach a stabilized lens (or in Sonys case, sensor) those problems become way less prominent.

I have very few complaints with my Aputure FineHD VS-2. Excellent monitor for the price.

I just got the VS2 Fine HD from Apature and its pretty good, havent tried it extensivelly yet, but it def helps focusing and so on on the a7sII. It supports 4k as well, and I payed 240€ +- for it.

Those overlapping dance scenes are my saving point...I always have a terrible time to edit the "party" section of a wedding, thats why I do it that way, it saves the whole thing!

I usually buy all my stuff on ebay though, Ifinity or Koha store (or whatever its written), they have really really good prices.

I hate to be "the NX1 guy" in this thread ha (I'm actually suprised none of the usual suspects have piped up yet)... But it might be worth looking into the NX1, or the even cheaper NX500 for that matter, both produce lovely, sharp 60p (and gorgeous 120p as well!) with minimal moire/aliasing, crazy low rolling shutter, and decent enough lowlight performance with a fast lens, which you're obviously interested in, i.e. shallow dof, or you wouldn't care so much about sensor size. I have no idea what they'd go for down under, but there are lots of gently used ones around for pennies. Our very own forum member Lucabutera is selling some awesome NX-L speedboosters that he has crafted as well, I have one, which gives the camera about a 1.1x crop.
