  1. A used Ferrari still out runs a new Skoda.
  2. Film doesn't look like real life. And that's the point imo. It looks good, dreamy, exciting, magical, "enter any random word". And it's the same with everything in films. Even if they are shot digitally it doesn't look like real life. It doesn't sound like real life. People don't talk or act like real life. Physics don't apply. People don't die when they should. Etc etc etc. All I know is that I sit in forums like this and peep at everything from Sony 4K to H.265. I mainly shoot Raw but also avchd. I watch modern movies shot with the absolute latest in video technology. And then the other day when I rewatched the old "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" I was once again just blown away of how good real film looks. Even if it's over 50 years old and kinda Vintage. The skin tones, highlights, shadows, everything just straight out kills any video footage I've seen.
  3. Honestly no. If you seriously think an Alexa is a better option than a Gopro for mounting on the edge of a snowboard, that's silly. If you think a Gopro is better than an NX1 as a cinematic hybridcamera, that's silly. If you think an NX1 is better than the A7s for run N gun in extreme lowlight that's silly. If you think the A7s is better than the Alexa for shooting a 10 million dollar feature drama, that's silly. It all depends on who you ask. And that is not an opinion, that's stone cold facts.
  4. You can compare whatever you want. An Alexa is crap compared to a 1DC and the 1DC is worse than my phone. Depending on who you ask. Same with resale value. I could buy and sell a 1DC and turn profit. It's all depending on who you ask.
  5. There is no camera Vs camera list done by anyone that's not personal preference. I don't know why people don't realize this and spare themselves getting worked up for nothing. A Gopro is much better than an A7s. The A7s kills a BMPCC. A Bmpcc murders a NX1. An NX1 rapes a Gopro. And the list goes on and on. There is no camera in the world that's "better" than another camera. It just doesn't exist. DEPENDING ON WHO YOU ASK!
  6. I think many of us would love to buy one. Just that we might not afford it. I know I would rather have the 1dc over a Sony A7rii or A7s any day of the week.
  7. I'm shooting as we speak No need for a changing bag on the K3, daylight spools only.
  8. yes. If its a "real" conversion they recenter the lens as well. But most K3 shooters are happy with just the filed gate. The included zoom covers from 27mm and up. On the m42 one can use a Zenitar 16mm or Peleng 8mm with full coverage. On http://www.k3camera.com/ there are instructions on how to do it. Also one can buy the gate only on eBay.
  9. Just because you don't "bold" the entire sentence doesn't change that it's his opinion So again, no proof needed. I also prefer my old Zeiss m42 over the Canon-L I have used. I like the look, the feel, the build, the adaptability. In other words, for me, they are better.
  10. $25 is a fine deal. Modify it to "s16" (remove the gate and file it on one side) and its a minimum $200. Yes the Pocket is sold.
  11. The LX100 is not very jittery at all, it's pretty smooth. Not Em5 smooth but smooth. You could look at the rx100ii, it's a good camcorder . You can somewhat avoid flicker by changing the shutterspeed. Since the em5 is 300-350 dollars you could probably buy a used one really cheap and just try. Because it is a nice camera. Colors are awesome .
  12. I used an E-m5 for a while. Loved pretty much everything about but that 30p drove me crazy. I would look at the LX100 or Sony RX100 instead.
  13. And magnification, just press center button.
  14. Started a roadtrip today and scored a $6 25mm f2.8 within the first few hours. Shame I don't have an adapter at the moment but I think I've packed enough stuff to make a vacation video anyway .
  15. This, Buy a nice high end ND and go Xume. I've had my oldest Genus Eclipse for years and no intention of replacing it. It's like a good microphone or lens, care for it and it's a one time buy.
  16. This isn't a very good idea if you want good audio for interviews. You need to get that mic in close even if it's a directional mic. Griffin on Indy Mogul had a smart solution with an arm coming of his shoulder rig with a shotgun. Best way is to tripod the camera and have the zoom in your hand, text book reporter setup. Sugest watching this,
  17. Like I said, I don't think it will be that groundbreaking. Pretty much an A7rii with better lowlight. But if I can dream a little. The a7s conveniently got 4k roughly about the same time as the Shogun. The Shogun is finally implementing it's long awaited raw features. First the raw to prores and then the DNG recording. When they first said it and at a show last spring where a bit floaty answering what cameras would take advantage of it my thought was, "this is not primarily for Blackmagic". One can atleast dream.
  18. Lumias have been shooting 24 in UHD for a while. No cinema 4k but they have manual focus while recording.
  19. So far I like it alot. It's a nice bring along when the Bolex stays at home. It requires roundrtripp for resolve but the workflow is quite fast anyway. The detail is probably a little bit the camera but also youtube, the vintage glass and that I didn't ad any sharpening. It was just a quick over all grade with one of my presets and I'm not used to adding sharpening. Will experiment as I learn s-log. That's one of the reasons I got it, want to get some hands on with s-log. Will hopefully have some "real" grades soon.
  20. There is no jitter. If you want better it's tripod for you.
  21. There are focus by wire lenses for Canon, Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Olympus. It's not specific to the camera, its dependent on the lens.
  22. Better to stick to 25 on both if one can't do 24. It will show otherwise.
  23. Brought my new A7ii over the weekend and played around a bit with the stabilization. I those of you going for the A7sii or A7rii will be very pleased with it. Combined with a rig or support it would be rock solid. And this is just 3 Axis since I used old vintage glass.
