at the top is the 5d mark iii raw imo, if raw is to much hardware space for you i would go for the d750

The DR seems a little limited, the whites on the sides of the wall seems very clipped.

So what would be the better purchase now - Sony FS5 with firmware upgrades & Odyssey 7Q+, or just the Sony FS7?
it really depends what features you need, the fs5 does 240fps and bursts, fs7 does 180fps contionous. The fs5 has an internal variable nd, the fs7 has 4k 60fps.

and one of his recent posts basically claimed the MK2 with raw was one of the best "forgotten cameras" for cinema. EOSHD likes tech and gets excited by the latest specs, but that doesn't always equate to the most balanced review... once the dust settles.
I traded my 5D3 for an A7s and have hated it since day one... Everyone is different though. As soon as I can shoot 1080/60p raw on a Canon, I will move back.
You can basiclly shoot 1080p 60fps on the mark iii in raw, just a little downgrade in detail.
here's a random test i found

Wow, I am amazed by the amount of responses I recieved. At the moment I am taking the G7X, GF7, and RX100 into consideration. I will be walking around a lot while in NY so I need something that has good stabilization and good low light performance. Considered going with the GoPro Hero 4 Silver but ended up not liking the quality. My GF owns the D3300 which takes decent video. She says I can use it but I don't want to be held responsible although I've never broken anything. It's just a mind thing I guess.
the d3300 has no auto focus which can be a pain in the a**, I would reccommend you to taje either the g7x or 70d route depending if size is a problem.

That's actually what I did for the second video. All the tests were done in the Flat picture style.
awesome, would love to see you test it on some more DR demanding scenes

Is it possible to shoot in the flat picture style and d lightning at the same time? Sounds like that would give amazing DR!

I would like to see some samples with Dlighting.
I might be wrong but i think dlightning is limited to stills only, no video

I would be so awesome if knefinity did something like the bmpcc, like a small compact camera sized camera with a built in screen and the kineraw colour and codec.

The Sony A7 is only $398 with a Rode microphone at Adorama today. Go go go! Will easily find a lens for $100 later. Probably not got a folding screen, but probably got wifi, so you can frame yourself with your phone.
would not recommend at all for vlogging, i have a a7 and the video auto focus is terrible, the screen cant go selfie mode and if you are in the wifi mirror mode to your smartphone you can only take pictures. No video.

dont know what the used 70d goes for but that is a great and easy to use vlogging camera, a lot better af than the G7

Canon was talking way back of using the 1Dc 4K video for event (like wedding) stills, but I haven't seen much talk of photogs regularly using 4K video for photos. I had a chance to cover an AbilityFirst fundraiser walk today and for the first time covered the entire event with just video using NX1. I believe this kind of video-for-stills approach really opens up the possibility to capture moments with more life, making it ideal for events/photojournalism photography.
Anyway, check out my photos if you're interested at AbilityFirst Walk. All the video was with the 16-50 S, DR gamma (-10 sharpness), and 1/125 or 1/250 shutter speed. Would love to hear about your experiences/thoughts on using video for stills with 4K.
For instagram etc, i often take stills out of video.

I know but they ditched the OVF, that bugs me like crazy, I loved that. Still might get it. Or a X70 with external OVF.... Fuji drives me nuts, every single one of their models are so sweet and affordable. Have you seen the used prices here in Sweden on the X-T1 or the lower en Rage Finders (dont know their model names, they all sound the same).
oh that sucks, yeah the prices are crazy low, im stongly thinking about getting an x100 for 2300kr used for stills.

I recently got an Olympus Pen-F.
The debate was between the Pen or a Fuji (x100t, xt1, x-pro1/2 etc). Ive always loved Fujifilm, even the small sensored X20 is an absolute joy to take stills with (to bad I needed wifi). The fuji x30 has wifi

Much better. Didn't see where to choose 20bit though.
Great video, looks really nice! The next thing i would recommend for you is to get and Variable nd filter so that you can keep you shutter at 1/50

yeah the 55mm is a real beaut. Haven't tried contax zeiss lenses but from what i've seen they are very sharp and have a very modern look.
