the 24-70/2.8 is designed with the a7rii in mind..  so even cropping into it, the lens will outdo most purpose built aps-c lenses.

The 24-70 is tested to perform similary to the canon 24-70. Here is that lens on the 24mp canon vs the cheapest apsc on the same camera. I think you the a6000 with 16-70 and a6300 with 24-70 GM would give similar results.

definitely.  it's not just about resolution.  The entire image makes up perceived optical sharpness or more accurately 'detail'.  the 24-70/2.8 closed down to f4 will be miles better than the 16-70/4 wide open.  mainly due to the reduced unpleasant artefacts like CA, coma, reduced contrast, etc that lenses usually exhibit when used wide open.  The 24-70 will have the advantage of being 1 stop further away from it's maximum aperture.  it's likely the 24-70 may actually outperform the 16-70, even when set to f2.8.

but the 24-70 2.8 is designed for a much bigger sensor than the a6300 (full frame) so you wont be taking advantage of the enitre lens and get all the sharpness while the 16-70mm is made for apsc.

No but you can pass audio out via HDMI to a monitor with a headphone jack, or go off the on screen audio levels instead.

ah thats a bummer, but like you said not a unsolvable problem. How's the 60p on the camera? Any better than the a6000?

Yes, have the same problem. Ultra fast in photomode, but not working in videomode.

maybe something thats fixable with firmware from metabones.

Just shot a few tests with the A6300 in 4K.

Sony have completely changed their noise reduction and the way the codec handles noise...

Behold... A fine noise grain in video mode!!

This is really nice to see.

Shot at ISO 6400 by the way.

One thing I have noticed with the copper sensors (X Pro 2, NX1, A6300) is that they really hold onto colour and dynamic range well at high ISOs.

    More coming soon.

looks stuningly good for a 100mbit codec!

Is it even worth tinkering around anymore with the competition upping the game every other month? Besides, familiar sensors... so I bet you're hardly gonna squeeze any more out of it? Maybe it was worth it up to the 5DmkIII. But now??? Not so sure.

If I were an actual developer I'd spare wasted time and shift my focus to the Apertus AXIOM project and other paid revenues.

I was in the same situation, sold my 7d because 60p is needed for my workflow. The blackmagic micro cinema is a very exicting product imo, only thing holding me back is the 600$ price of the bmpcc speedbooster which seems like a necesary if you want to get some sort of shallow dof.

I'm sure we are all (expectedly) underwheled by the video features of the last two Canon announcements (1300D and 80D)... But the first thing I think about when these cameras drop is "what can ML do with them"?

Are any of these models able to do 1080/60p in raw yet, not the 60p that needs to be stretched, but pure 1080/60p?

The only canon camera before the 80d that was able to do 1080p 60fps was the 7d mark ii. i think they had trouble cracking it and it was to much trouble to be worth it.

Very true but im not gonna lie, the 5d mark iii raw is stil my favorite digital image out there under 15k.

There was a bit at 4k, but you know, youtube. I would be shocked if there was none in the railings in between the garages though, I wonder if the garage door is present in the origional.

youtube 4k footage on 1080p = moire on all cameras. watching the 1080p on  a 1080p will be alot less moire.

Looks great Bror. Beautiful lens and composition, but I am a sucker for slow rack focusing. What camera did you shoot that with?

If you already have the Nikkor 35mm f2, then why are you even looking for another lens in this range... Get some more Nikkors... How about the 50mm 1.2 or 85mm f2... Or the 20mm f2.8? There are so many great Nikkor lenses that you should be concentrating on building a nice set of those... IMO.

Sony A7 with the neutral picture style -3-3-3 and graded with film convert.

Thanks, if you have it I would like to see it. I almost picked up a Nikkor-O 35mm f2 the other day but we couldn't agree on a price and since I already have the 28mm f2, it seems redundant if I can't get it for the right price. Which Nikkor 35mm f2 do you have, and do you have any footage online using it?

i have the ais version, all the shots except the close ups in this video was shot on the nikkor.

A lot of lenses are worse than canon FD and nikkor 35mm f2, Rokinon/Samyang/Bower included. But I have not seen anything from them. Have you used the Creator 35mm f2? Do you have any footage from them? I have been curious about the price for awhile.

i had it and sold it after a couple of days of usage, my nikkor 35m f2 which retails for 80$ is a lot sharper wide open. I dont think i still have the footage but i can check tomorrow. But here's a review which covers mot areas about it http://www.lenstip.com/428.1-Lens_review-Mitakon_Creator_35_mm_f_2_-Introduction.html

The Samyang/Rokinon/Bower lenses are nice lenses, my friend has the 16mm Cine lens and it is a really nice lens.

Mitakon also makes a 35mm f2 lens that looks really nice. Brand new they sell for $160. Of course I haven't seen any footage from them, but their other lenses look good

Without a doubt. Those lenses will be good for years and they will work with any future Nikon, Canon, or mirrorless.

mitakon 35mm f2 is worse than canon fd 35mm f2 and nikkor 35mm f2 so not recommended.

which is the best fast prime (1.4-1.8) to use on the NX1? Manual lenses are fine. Should be between 24-40mm or 50mm if necessary. Anything cheaper than the sigma 35mm 1.4?

sammy 35mm 1.4 is amazing, if you wanna go with the route off a very clinical lens then its your best bet. If you want someone with lower contrast more vintage look, the canon ltm 35mm f1.8 is a real beaut. Kinda rare but it comes up every once in awhile on ebay.

Interesting... I understand you set this in-camera?

    - do you first set the color temperature and then the color shift or the other way round?

    - may I ask which setting you use? Something like 0, M2?

i know you didn't ask me but iam also a sony shooter and i've found shooting at -1 magenta and +2 to orange makes the image very apealing and nice to work with.
