Rapid fire response off the top of my head just because it is fun:
I'm only considering large sensor ILC here, thus I'm ignoring quite large markets and notable cameras such as GoPro or a Sony PXW-X70 or Panasonic FZ1000 or Panasonic LX100, which are all great cameras themselves and worth considering for many people.
And now onto the answers:
• Up to $500
Panasonic G7
• $500 - $1000
Panasonic G80 or BMPCC
• $1000 - $1500
Sony a6500 or Nikon D500 or Nikon D750 or BMMCC or secondhand Sony F3
• $1500 - $2000
Hold off and wait for the Panasonic GH5
• $2000 - $3000
Sony a7S mk2 or a7R mk2 or secondhand Sony FS700
• $3000 - $5000
Sony FS5 or Kinefinity Terra 5K or BMD URSA Mini 4.6K
• $5000 - $10,000
Sony FS7 mk1 or FS7 mk2 or Kinefinity Terra 6K or secondhand Sony F5 if you're lucky
• $10,000 and above...
This is a very very broad category as the sky is the limit! Thus it covers anything from a Canon C300 mk2 to Panasonic Varicam LT to an Arri Alexa Mini to a Sony F65, and lots more between those listed, and lots more both above and below!

Grimor reacted to Hans Punk in WHAT'S THIS??? (undentified 1.75x anamo lens)
I remember this lens doing the rounds a couple of years back on ebay by the original seller - I did a little research back then.
It was a part of a small run of lenses configured by Century at the request of Lars Von Trier when he was shooting on DVCAM. To enable a small part of the film to be shot 'native' 2.35:1 (bulk of the film was cropped 16x9) So expect this lens to work best with smaller sensors and when higher resolution is not critical. Can be considered a Century/Optex grade optic, but with a different stretch ratio. Current seller of lens used to be a member of this forum before he got banned. He's probably still here, under a different name.

I cant believe 43rumors used the headline "The new G80 firmware doesn’t seem to fix the IS issue on all lenses" for that video. Anyone who's used a telephoto zoom with optical stabilisation has seen that "recoil" effect. You can't expect a zoom of that range to be totally stable handheld. Ridiculous. I don't even have/intend to get the camera and I feel annoyed. Poor journalism and all that..

This test is a 100-400 handheld shoot...
What do you spect from this long lens without a tripod?

Grimor reacted to Vladimir in Don't forget to disable IBIS when "Anamorph"
once i had shooting with a7sii, didnt had time to test it so i just set it 'manually' to focal_length_of_taking_lens divided by 2. Did u do the same? Otherwise IBIS to strong for horizontal plane (in my humble understanding of how it works). In my case there was some shots with whobling but not much and i think u get the same amount without any ana.

Grimor got a reaction from Cinegain in Don't forget to disable IBIS when "Anamorph"
Today, when i was shooting some tests with G80 and Kowa 2x, handheld , i can see sometimes the image whobling and misaligned due the sensors movements.
It's only an advice that i haven't read it before.

Grimor got a reaction from ikola in $30 anamorphic de-squeeze app for GH4 (iPhone/iPad)
As betatester of app, i may say that it's a big improvement for the anamorphic comunity.
The app works great. You get a wireless field monitor (full screen ipad) that de-esqueeze anamorphic footage on the go, plus let you primary color correction for the GH4 Vlog in real time.
Probably new features are coming (Luts, remote trigger, loupe for focus).
All my support to Marcus for this app.

Grimor reacted to Orangenz in Warning about Panasonic g85/80 & lens
First impressions of playing with G85 along with the GH4 and GX85 today:
Noise. The GH4 is silent. The G85 is quieter than GX85. Maybe just because the body on the G85 offers more insulation, but the GX85 ibis "noise" was quite a bit louder. Now, I didn't notice this noise at all in real world filming earlier with the GX85 so the chance of noticing the sound from the G85 seems highly unlikely. In fact, I wonder how you would record the noise unless you tape a mic onto the camera body and block outside noise getting to it by covering it with tape. The noise is not the lens. It is coming from in the body.
2nd, the stabilisation, well I'll put some of my recorded files together and see. My first impression, before examining the files, is that the G85 IBIS is definitely superior for holding the shot steady. For very slow pans it also produces incredibly stable shots. I think it did start bouncing around a bit more under more vigourous panning but I think this is a result of the better IBIS at each end of the movement. So maybe in video mode they might tweak the settings in the future but it's not a video deal breaker even like it is.
Focus speed - instant. Shutter noise - silent? Definately wow factor there. Handling - very nice. Better placement of play button. Better grip, especially thumb location.

Grimor got a reaction from SigurdW in Anamorphic quality vs cropping on digital cameras
They are different things.
The cheaper, the sharper ,the easy way is cropping.
Real anamorphic give others things that a few crazy people loves.
Its just Aesthetic preferences.

If sharpness is what you are after, you are better of shooting spherical.
However, some scopes are indeed sharper than others. The Cinelux and Isco Wide-screen 2000 are commonly considered to be sharp scopes, but imo pretty 'sterile'.
I did a quick lens test for a short I am shooting:
