Gregormannschaft reacted to ntblowz in RED KOMODO 6K | First Footage - WOW
Interesting, I saw another video compare c200 RAW and Komodo, the c200 also retain highlight better than Red, but shadow area Komodo hold better.

Take it with a grain of salt, BUT despite the clickbaity title (which is totally intentional), it's a solid piece of advice and shows how a professional DP tackles basic color grading.

Gregormannschaft got a reaction from heart0less in The Wandering DP Podcasts - worth it?
I don't know if you found it, but back in early 2019 he uploaded the creative treatment that landed him his first feature film job, as well as lighting diagrams and the shot lists from the first few weeks of filming. It was pretty eye opening, very rare to see people sharing so much.

That's what I feel, too.
Though I have to admit I'm still listening to the content from 2018, because I have lots of catching up to do - maybe the tone for most recent podcasts has changed.

Really? I'm kind of surprised. I find Patrick to be pretty down to earth and find his own takedowns of his own 'shitty' work make him pretty likeable. Most of the time he just sounds exhausted, if he was all 'awesomes' and 'supers' I wouldn't have kept listening.
I find a lot of other podcasts a bit light and appreciate the level of depth Patrick puts into his lighting breakdowns, although they might only be available to Patreon subscribers.

Exactly, same story here.
I'm a one-man band and I doubt it'll change in the foreseeable future.
Nonetheless, I find the podcasts entertaining and educational - a win-win situation, I'd say.

Yup, couldn't agree more.
Especially now, when some YouTubers put their generic LUTs for 40$ or sometimes more.

So, it took me almost a year to grow into the decision, BUT I started to support Patrick (aka The Wandering DP) on Patreon last month and I wholeheartedly recommend doing so.
It's a great way to learn how the different shots were created, what's the idea behind them and how were they lit - spoiler: it's not really about the strength of the light, it's how you tailor it to your needs.
Every podcast / steam feels like an excerpt from "The Photographer's Eye / Mind" by Michael Freeman, except it's a video and you can follow along DP's way of thinking.
Right now it's my e-learning site of choice, lol.

He uses them so well, no doubt, but I really liked his stuff before the gimbal craze and felt he was more creative with his shots. And cheers, yours was beautifully shot.

Gregormannschaft got a reaction from PannySVHS in Why is Sony IBIS so bad?
Totally agreed. I could get a nice handheld feeling without the jitters with Sony's IBIS, exactly what I wanted. I'm not so keen on the movement you tend to get from gimbals and wouldn't want that ultra smooth quality all the time.

Gregormannschaft reacted to Juan Melara in P6K to ARRI Alexa - Resolve PowerGrade
Hi all, after several requests I've now updated the P4K2Alexa and P6K2Alexa PowerGrades with new ACES versions. This allows you to match the Alexa when working in Resolve's ACES colour science.
It's a free upgrade, get in touch if you never received your update email.

Those videos are amazing but I hate them. When they were all the rage, I had a corporate client request that their corporate video be in the same style. It was a one man band shoot, just me, a Sony A7SII and a gimbal. I mean...

Alright, people, here is my take.
Shot all by myself since no-one was keen to help me.
) :
Lighting was quite simple, I only used already existing fixtures and modified them with some tape / baking paper to add warmth.
X-T3 , Helios and DIY anamorphic.

Gregormannschaft reacted to Simon Young in How to receive a BAFTA as ungraciously as possible
That statement is not only ahistorical and incorrect, it’s downright disgusting.

Wow. So because most white people don’t walk around feeling privileged removes the de facto privilege bestowed upon them for centuries?
And the whole “political correct thing doesn’t connect with people” is just flat out condescending. So “ordinary people” can’t be allies, ie. decent human beings informed about questions regarding social issues?
It’s so incredibly sad that these kind of topics on any forum always end up about the white man’s hurt feelings. As if the act of calling out racism is somehow inherently more hurtful than actual racism.
“Politics is obsessed about skin color”, that’s funny because I think people in general are kind of obsessed about skin color (especially Sony’s on this forum), but it’s only now when the paler shade of skin is also named, not just taken as a neutral general thing. Then all of a sudden there’s an obsession - not when you scream the n-word or more recently make jokes about East Asians with regards to the corona virus.
Nobody is trying to shame the hard working gaffer into believing anything, I think it’s more about including the hard working people of color when it comes to recognizing the industry. One doesn’t negate the other.
And then the Japan example. Always the Japan example. Let’s not go to the extremely weird exotification of this “monocultural” country where everything is so special and great because of their monoculture. Because it isn’t.
